....................... (idle for 1h50mn)
cc-daveloperHey
you had a question about how to run the Webconfig from the Server itself
there are two ways to do this
you can tweak the clear console to allow all the...

MAvLjoined #clearfoundation
back!
i had to cook some dinner for myself
[20:18]
men i'm tired it was busy day
i think it's going to be a early night
first some computerization
[20:27]
cc-daveloperyou were asking about running Webconfig on the ClearOS server itself [20:33]
MAvLyes
your right yesterday evening
I didn't know that this was possible
Zentyal also has this feature
[20:33]
cc-daveloperthere are two ways [20:35]
MAvLok [20:35]
cc-daveloperyou can modify it so that the default view has all the features…the problem is that the lightweight web browser is not sufficient to run all the modules.
the second way is to run the ClearOS Core desktop and use a web browser under that
that is the way I do it.
[20:36]
MAvLok
if i'm correct Zentyal also has a desktop running
So if you want to run all modules you have to with option 2
to go with option 2
[20:36]
cc-davelopersome of the reports don't render correctly running under ClearConsole [20:38]
MAvLokay [20:39]
cc-daveloperhttp://www.clearcenter.com/support/documentation/clearos_guides/install_graphical_desktop_for_clearos
I use that guide
[20:39]
MAvLnice! [20:39]
cc-daveloperthen install firefox
yum install firefox
[20:39]
MAvLchecking! [20:39]
whoa! that cool! [20:47]
cc-daveloperyes…didn't know we had a complete desktop OS did you?!!? [20:47]
MAvL:)
that is just what i want to say
[20:47]
cc-daveloperfor extra eye candy, I set the desktop wallpaper to cycle through the different images [20:48]
MAvLcompleet with clearOS start icon [20:48]
cc-daveloper:) [20:48]
So I was thinking the other day that ClearFoundation needs a mascot
I thought that something New Zealand-esque would fit the bill.
I considered the Kiwi and though … way over done.
[20:54]
MAvLhmm, not a bad idea [20:57]
cc-daveloperThen I thought about the kakapo might be a good one…they are very funny.

But then I found the Kea and fell in love.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l0DNaVQ-P4
[20:57]
MAvLhaha funny bird [20:58]
cc-daveloperI thought…here is a smart bird that loves to hack. [20:59]
MAvLwow clever bird [21:00]
cc-davelopera lot smarter than some dumb old panda...hehe [21:01]
MAvLi agree the lastest bird is a good mascot
i like the idea
[21:01]
cc-daveloperlots of parallels
They are protected by New Zealand law (as is ClearOS)
[21:02]
MAvLoaky [21:03]
cc-daveloperThey are smart alone…but can work well in groups (like our community) [21:03]
MAvL:) [21:03]
cc-daveloperAnd they are not afraid to approach people for the things they need (like what we hope for newcomers to ClearOS) [21:04]
MAvLbut with this mascot you want a new label/banner on Clearfoundation/Clearcenter site?
sell this ClearOS mascot?
?
or intregrate the bird in the Clearfoundation logo
btw i have ClearOS webconfig running on the server itself
eh, a vm
cool!
now some shortcut on the desktop
[21:06]
...... (idle for 26mn)
cc-daveloperI don't think we'd change the logo but we can find ways to integrate him….time to start a contest for a name and get graphic art submissions.
you should check out the virtual box manager in the Desktop ClearOS environment
works great
[21:36]
MAvLyou mean running virtualbox on ClearOS?
hmm with a destop environment you have more possibilities
[21:38]
cc-daveloperyeah…here is the how to...
http://www.clearcenter.com/support/documentation/clearos_guides/install_virtualization_using_virtualbox
[21:44]
MAvLhmmm with that guide it's really easy to install
very clearly written
[21:46]
it's time to go to bed [22:01]
cc-davelopergnight
thanks for all you do
[22:02]
MAvLhave a nice day and thanks for the tips
