piti: Mindiell: I don't remember seeing a real talk in there
(I stay just in case one could happen/I can participate)
Mindiell: :D
thx piti for your honesty
Btw, if you know anything about fulltext research on P2P networks I'll be interested
I found out some thing about prefixes researches
and started to try something to test
piti: I can retreive some papers about such thing
but what I can tell is that's a bad idea
latency and bandwidth are your enemy in this context
http://www.softnet.tuc.gr/~papapetrou/publications/edbt08-fulltextindexingandir.pdf
Mindiell: thx so much !
I'll read that. I've found an interesting solution for prefixes, I'll continue to search for fulltext ;o)
piti: btw, what are you trying to do ?
Mindiell: Well, I'm trying to theorize and test a simple thing : a P2P used to share a resource simply.
And I want it to be usable from any website.
Examples : Transifex has a lot of translations centralized. I want to be able to share some translations for example
piti: hum, I'm not sure to get it
oh, ok. but you can do that through bittorrent, don't you ?
Mindiell: so, any website giving the service of translating sentences could ask to the P2P network if a sentence has been translated
well, I want the website to use an API.
In order that any nwe website proposing some trnaslation services being able to share its knowledge
piti: hum, I see
Mindiell: and use the knowledge ever translated
Some kind of plugin on a website
But being able to share other things that a translated sentence too.
I'm sure there are a lot of things to share :o)
With my example, anyone can install a small instance of translation-service for a small group, but profit from the entire knowledge of the p2p network :o)
