sylvie1: login is case insensitive - at least on dev.tw for me

amette: there was some big discussion some longer time ago about logins and case-sensitivity... it was a problem of changing it in the code and not breaking backwards-compat... but I don't remember what was the conclusion - it was coded regarding the conclusion though, that I'm sure about!

I was thinking of making a page at themes.tw.o for each new theme with links directly to the mods.tw.o files. Most of these themes only have a few files, and that way they'd be current.
Snapshots in file galleries get out of date fast, at least during this beta/rc phase.

the background color?
***: Jyhem has joined #tikiwiki
chibaguy: Well, the body has a red background image that mostly gets covered up by the dark areas behind text, etc. But if there's a lag in the page loading, the red might show for a while, which might not be too nice to look at.
For a site about hell or something, it'd be ok..... ;-)
I like the idea of the body background supplying the color for the header and footer parts, because it avoids the problem of those parts sometimes not going full width or (for footer) moving up from the window bottom on short pages.

my only comment would be that if the page is long, you can see where the background img ends and starts

forums_last_topics does do something similar but does get outdated soon.
since_last_visit_new does something similar too, but gets flooded fast if one thread is very active
is there yet another module i did not find that can display each topic that something was posted to since last login?
amette: why does forum_last_topics get outdated soon?
urpg: well, an example: someone does post one reply in "thread A", and "Thread B" and "Thread C". Then during the day, a lot of people comment in "Thread C".
all the module displays are like ,... 10 posts in thread C and A and B go unnoticed
even though they have new comments since last visit.
amette: ah, they show the posts themselves and you want something that just shows the threads where something happened, right?
urpg: jup exactly :)

yeah, dunno, if there is anything like that, but it should be a pretty easy hack to one of those modules actually..
urpg: and "latest_topics" does only show the last "created" not the last "commented" ones

urpg: hui, 2.0 final something coming up? *me will have a look at the new features*
Hansi_MP: meaning most activity will happen in trunk? So that should really be even more stable than 2.0?
2.0 has a lot of good stuff ;-)

urpg: and converting / moving content is always trouble
Petjal2: If I choose 2.0 now, will there be formal approved "service packs" that I can get by simply doing "svn update 2.0.1" or something like that?
urpg: will it be any bigger? i am using 270 of 300 MB webspace with 1.10b1 already
is there something wrong with tikiwiki.org? the de. and www. sites take ages to load...
Hansi_MP: tw.o seemed to be down earlier today

but if you need a fix done in trunk you will have to merge yourself
Petjal2: or wait for a "service pack" of some sort, right? (what word am I missing there?)
since my site has to go into production soon, I think I should choose 2.0 for now.

so, now I'm about to do "svn switch https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/branches/2.0 " Do I have to do a "svn switch ... ./mods" thing, too? And, any "mysql -f"?
sylvie1: you have to run the upgrade base - like each time you do a svn up
Petjal2: "upgrade base"?
-: SEWilco2 searches for upgrade_base.php without luck.
Petjal2: I see a ./tiki-setup_base.php let me look in there...
nope, that's included from elsewhere apparently
amette: sylvie1 Petjal2 urpg : what questions do you have considering 2.0/Trunk - perhaps I can help
SEWilco2: I think tiki-setup_base.php might be what is autorun at first installation. If I'm wrong someone should tell us.
sylvie1: doc/devtools/sqlupgrade.sh or use tiki-install.php
SEWilco2: Ah. tiki-install.php.
sylvie1: I discovered - while speaking with nyloth that there is no "big bug fix" in 2.0
amette: basically: 2.0 is frozen as in "doesn't move" - simple as that
sylvie1: yes, that's actually true - as those fixes might break other stuff we don't recognize right now...
Hansi_MP: so tiki-install has to be run every time svn update is performed?
amette: ... if such a "big bug fix" really seems necessary, then there will be a 2.1...
... otherwise 2.0 is now _really_ frozen as we have an RC...
as soon as an RC is out - nothing moves!
Petjal2: If I run tiki-install.php after "svn switch ... 2.0", will that break anything?
amette: After the release, it may be discussed if a bug is severe enough to be fixed in the current release - otherwise -> trunk
Petjal2: if I do "svn switch ... 2.0" now, should I do it again for each 2.0RC?
amette: ( although, if e.g. some bug prohibits installation or such: of course it is being fixed in 2.0 )
so in such grey areas: release manager decides - so in such cases please consult the devel-list about the commit
Petjal2: you can, if you want - but this should only be necessary, if you notice any breakage that affects you
Petjal2: ok, thanks.
So, I'm gonna "svn switch ... 2.0", then "svn switch ... ./mods', then in a browser http;//.../tiki-install.php -- is that right?
Hansi_MP: but do I need to run tiki-install whenever I run svn update?
amette: dunno about that mods, but basically: yes
Petjal2: thanks, here goes...wish me luck!
amette: Hansi_MP: only for upgrading the database... which shouldn't be necessary as this release is frozen - but it doesn't hurt either
-: Hansi_MP wishes Petjal2 luck ;-)
amette crosses his fingers for Petjal2
SEWilco2 seeks cover
Petjal2: (put backup files and mysql before those 2 steps)
Hansi_MP: ok
Petjal2: s/2/3/
some Restored's, a bunch of U's, UU's and A's.

where can i find a feature list for v2?
and regarding my display trouble / Module request i put up a thread in the (german) support forum: http://de.tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=2&comments_parentId=1268&thread_sort_mode=commentDate_desc&was_queued=n
Petjal2: this? http://doc.tikiwiki.org/TikiWiki+2.0
urpg2: looks good, thanks
forum redesign was needed badly... but no pdf conversion sucks, i like the feature :-/

Petjal2: my first "svn switch" just finished with " svn: Failed to add file 'lib/smarty_tiki/block.itemfield.php': object of the same name already exists" -- need I worry?
It didn't say anything about completing successfully, just ended like this: A lib/smarty_tiki/function.xajax_response.php
U lib/smarty_tiki/function.rcontent.php
U lib/smarty_tiki/modifier.truncate.php
U lib/smarty_tiki/function.gallery.php
svn: Failed to add file 'lib/smarty_tiki/block.itemfield.php': object of the same name already exists
sylvie1: rm it - an svn up it
Petjal2: urpg2: re pdf, I'll be needing, and thus working on, a similar tool to create .rtf's.
sylvie1: I suppose you did not change it
Petjal2: ok, thanks, yes, no I didn't change it...will do now...
urpg2: rtf is ok too... i don't remember it... you could not use text-anchors and links in rtf, right?
Petjal2: [root@sp1 tw2]# rm lib/smarty_tiki/block.itemfield.php
rm: remove regular file `lib/smarty_tiki/block.itemfield.php'? y
[root@sp1 tw2]# svn up https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/branches/2.0 .
svn: 'https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/branches' is not a working copy
yeah, not sure about those in rtf. I just need the user to have a MS Word editable doc based on his data entered via the his user tracker.
urpg2: and i'd like to create PDF or similar files with a clickable index... if text anchors (like in html) are possible in rtf, it would do fine
seems there is: linkself (from rtf 1.7 documentation): The object is a link to another part of the same document.
Petjal2: rerunning "svn switch ..." to see if it will complete. No output yet...
some U's, D's and A's now...
Looks like it picked up where it left off. Google says that I should expect a " Updated to revision ..." line at the end.
dangit: svn: Failed to add file 'lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_trackeritemfield.php': object of the same name already exists
sylvie1: did you add them from mods before?
Petjal2: not sure, maybe
Hansi_MP: I'm not sure I understand here ... I'm using http://dev.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Download "Using stable from SVN (2.x)" to update my installation. Isn't that what you are trying to do now Petjal2 ?
... or have I misunderstood the whole thing here ... ?
Petjal2: This is what I'm trying to do (rightly or wrongly...): http://dev.tikiwiki.org/Download#If_you_were_using_SVN_branches_1_10_before_2008_07_10
Hansi_MP: ah, you have a 1.10 installation you are trying to upgrade to 2.0?
***: PrezKennedy has quit IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
Petjal2: yes
still svn switching: Updated external to revision 13525.
Fetching external item into 'lib/adodb'
Hansi_MP: ok, then it's not quite the same ... I have started from scratch ... about ten thousand times over the last couple of weeks ;-)
Petjal2: :^)
Hansi_MP: I get that message too when I run the update
Petjal2: what's causing you to re-start from scratch each time?
just experimenting, or is something blocking you?
Hansi_MP: that's just my way of doing things, rather than using a lot of time trying to rescue something when there really is nothing to resque ;-)
Petjal2: Ah, success (for this step): A lib/fckeditor/_htaccess
A lib/fckeditor/fckeditor_php5.php
A lib/fckeditor/index.php
Updated external to revision 13525.
Updated to revision 13682.
Hansi_MP: sounds good!
Petjal2: now where was I....
oh yeah, ./mods ...
last time I did svn up, I had to also do a svn up ... ./mods , so i presume I need to do that for switch too... Any suggestions otherwise?
Hansi_MP: I've been installing different CMS systems and other webapps the last year or so, a bit to and from ... I just haven't been able to decide what system to use ... until now ... I think ;-)
Petjal2: yeah, same here, settling on tw, and investing a labor of love into it
any reason not to run: svn switch https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/branches/2.0 ./mods
Hansi_MP: yeah, I landed on tw about a year ago too, but then I got doubts again ... let's hope I don't do that now again ;-)
SEWilco2: Same here... I say while fixing sefurl on 1.9...
Petjal2: shoot, I think I screwed up a bit. "svn switch https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/branches/2.0 ./mods " is I think just adding all of tw under ./mods/ now...
http://dev.tikiwiki.org/Download#Using_stable_from_SVN_2_x_ seems to indicate that I should have done: "svn up https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/mods/trunk ./mods" cuz there is no branches/2.0 under .../mods/ -- anyone?
ctrl-c isn't working to kill the bad "svn switch ..."
Hansi_MP: if you want to kill it try something like "ps aux |grep svn" and then kill -9 <process id>
if you are on a *nix system that is
Petjal2: yep, good, thanks
Hansi_MP: what kind of os btw? just curious :-)
amette: wow - bad bug on dev.tw.o when editing my user-tracker items... after "Save and back items list" I get redirected to tiki-view_tracker_item.php (with no prepended domain name)
Petjal2: centos on a leased dedicated server
now to clean up my ./mods mess...
I should fix my ./mods/ directory to look like this one, no? https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/mods/trunk/

Petjal2: ok, done cleaning up my ./mods mess... I think... now running tiki-install.php in a browser, selecting the tiki_1.9to2.0 script... crossing fingers...
do I need to run the tiki-secdb_2.0 script too?
if so, which should I run first?
ah, reading http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Security+Admin now...
***: urpg2 has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
Petjal2: ok, so i should do the secdb afterwards, I think.
so, done with running tiki-install.php in a browser, and running the 1.9to2.0 script. i got this output: Tiki installer v2.0 RC2
Upgrade complete. Your database has been configured and Tikiwiki is ready to run! You can now log in into Tikiwiki as user admin and start configuring the application. Upgrade operations executed successfully: 831 SQL queries. Operations failed: 273 SQL queries. Display details. During an upgrade, it is normal to have SQL failures resulting with Table already exists messages.
some failures were for table already exists, some for duplicate column name, duplicate key, unknown column, duplicate entry for key,
I think I (everyone?) should run "mysql -f -u tw_user -p tw_db < db/tiki_1.9to2.0.sql" --- any comments?
maybe not. maybe -f just results in full completion of the .sql script, perhap like running it in the browser.

Petjal2: ok, I think i'm done upgrading from 1.10x to 2.0RC2. Thanks for the help and inspiration!
SEWilco2: Is Eph implemented through Directories? .htaccess says eph99 uses URL tiki-directory_browse.php?parent=99
(in TW 1.9.11)
..dropping out of edit mode... yup, there is a tiki-view_eph, so .htaccess looks like it is wrong.
Petjal2: I was going to edit http://dev.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Download with my observations from today, but I can't seem to find the edit button anymore.
SEWilco2: I hope the bug tracker is still working so you can get that fixed.
