it's all or nothing
for wiki pages, yes
nightwork: So my articles have a rating on them, but how does that change
How do people rate the article?
marclaporte: news articles?
they click 1 to 10, AKAICR
AFAICR
nightwork: But where is the 1-10 which they can click? or do I need to turn that on somewhere
I have rankings turned on in the Admin-Articles page.

mattbmc: can anyone give me a tip on how/if I can unlimit the number of pages that displays in the listbox on tiki-edit_structure.php?
The list under Use pre-existing is practically non-usable if you have a large number of pages...and something made me think this wasn't too tough a change....
found it...
line 237 of tiki-edit_structure.php
Having that configurable in the Wiki options would be cool. :-)
nightwork: how does the orphan pages work. I have made links to the pages already. Does it take time to update?
***: Lucymoz has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
mattbmc: Shouldn't take any time, no.
Alright another Structures question....very strange thing happened when I tried to use the Create Page option on tiki-edit_structures.php. The page I was creating had a similar name, in part, to a pre-existing page. When I clicked Update, it didn't create the new page, it (somehow) game the old existing page a Structure alias of the new name I was trying to make into a page.
Is there a way to control/edit/otherwise fix this, because now the page displays with the incorrect title. :-)
The page name is not changed, mind you...if I try to Rename the page, it still shows the old name....it's just working (as it appears) like a Structure alias....
Dunno why it happened, didn't think it was possible to add an alias to any old Wiki page, and would like to know how to do/undo this.....thanks in advance!
***: lepei has joined #tikiwiki
mattbmc: Jeeze....I'm going to bed now....I entered the title of the new page in the "Page alias" box which I've failed to notice up untill now. :-) Good night.
nightwork: at least you figured it out
mattbmc: ;)
thanks for that support
needed at this point
lol
nightwork: me too, I have so much left to do
mattbmc: get your orphan pages cleaned up?
nightwork: and so much to learn
mattbmc: oy...that never seems to change..
nightwork: nope it still says they are orphan, but I can get to them following the links from the homepage
mattbmc: I'm honestly not sure if orphan pages work of straight inter-page links, or if it works off of Structures / Categories....
Try putting some pages in a Structure or Cat them and see if they drop off your list.
nightwork: oh really, well maybe I need to read up on categories
mattbmc: I don't do much inter-page linking, so never paid attention to that....they do go off my Orphan list when I add to a structure tho....that happens to be my main organization method
categories may work just as well...
could be either or...
(I'd have guessed that inter-page links would have been sufficient if you'd have asked me cold.)
nightwork: yeah, it might be that with inter-page links, it needs time to find them or something
mattbmc: try clearing your caches in System Admin just in case that has anything to do with it....
nightwork: will do
mattbmc: takes 2 seconds and who knows may help
nightwork: how do I do that exactly? Is it in tikiwiki or my browser?
mattbmc: tiki has it's own set of caches.....logged in as Admin, yoy have a System Admin menu option....there's 3 or 4 to do....
nightwork: I just cleared the logs
found it
didnt fix it yet
mattbmc: i bet it isn't gonna work that way then...
it's instant when I add a page to a Structure
nightwork: yeah as of now all the pages are orphan and none of my pages have a backlink
mattbmc: hm
I'm guessing Backlinks must reflect categories and orphans reflect structures? seems odd...gotta be wrong
U have all those options clicked in the Wiki admin options already?
nightwork: well reading a little and it sounds like I should be using structures and catagories to build my knowledge base anyway
yep
mattbmc: Definitely might help....I didn't for a while, then did categories, now I'm doing structures....
now they have tagging in tikiwiki as well....haven't messeg with that, but that should be another avenue...
nightwork: right, I am suprised with how good my site looks with only two days of work. No way I could have done it with raw html
mattbmc: On the page that sould have the backlink, do you even have a little drop-down menu at the top of the center column (above the edit/print controls)?
yo
i mean YA
I learned CSS just for TIki....
nightwork: nope
maybe it isnt turned on
I thought it was
mattbmc: about 2 hours of noodling and I'd customized Tiki to match our corporate intratnet...
nightwork: let me check
mattbmc: "/tiki-admin.php?page=wiki"
nightwork: I have a checkmark in the backlink box under wiki features
correcrt
i mean correct
mattbmc: >100 pages on my home tiki and only 8 have backlinks. :-)
Hum
nightwork: yeah I dont have a backlink button between edit and print
mattbmc: not a button, but a dropdown menu above them.....you'd defininite see it tho
sounds like u got it right, so not sure why it's not displaying.
nightwork: Not sure, but it would be nice to get that working. That way I can make sure that people can get to them
I also dont know how the user is supposed to rate articles
I dont see where they pick 1-10 at
So I still have a few things to work out, but it is coming along.
mattbmc: not using the Articles feature, or ratings at all really....not too sure
I've been using Tiki since 1.9 came out or thereabouts....love working with it. :-) Seems like that's a common experience. (Not to say it's without it's warts...like anything)
Hm...
Definitely something wrong on your sys..
I jsut made two pages with only wiki-links to each other as content....not part of stuctures or categories.....and neither shows as an orphan.
U using a release or the beta?
o
nightwork: tikiwiki-1.9.11
as far as I know that is latest release
mattbmc: o
ya...
man...
nightwork: it must be some setting that I am missing, or maybe a module
mattbmc: What install script did you use? (e.g. slashdot, fishroom...)
(I'll admit now I'm on the bastard 1.10 release....I haven't looked at a 1.9 release since 1.9.5 I think...
)
nightwork: I just ftp the files myself
then made the database, and ran install.php or something like that
mattbmc: yeah
you get prompted on that page for an install script where it sets tiki in a certain way for you...
used to be anyway that the options were Slashdot, fishroom, Basic....something like those...
nightwork: Im not sure then. I must have missed it
mattbmc: that way you could get one set up for Articles/sumissions like Slashdot.....or get it set up for a Fishroom which I think implies Forums....
can you re-run install.php manually?
(and keep in mind I haven't seen that exact release...)
nightwork: right, I am really impressed with it over all.
nope I cant run install.php
mattbmc: If you're not too far along, I think I'd suggest going nuclear and starting over from scratch...
pick the Slashdot option from the install.php screen when you get there (unless one of the other options sounds closer to what you want)...
nightwork: that would suck, I have done a lot already
It isnt really that big of a deal
mattbmc: I wouldn't pick anything like "no config" or "default"....leaves way too much to set up while you're learning....
Hm
nightwork: I mean the orphan pages would be nice to fix, but really doesnt effect the site. and until I start getting a bunch of people to the sire the rating are also not important
so I have time to play with it
probally about a month before we start getting a lot of traffic
mattbmc: well good luck!! I do have to hit the sack now... :-) May catch you on later - I'm around periodically

nyloth: lphuberdeau: hi :)
lphuberdeau: hello
nyloth: lphuberdeau: sept_7 has found that wysiwyg is broken in trunk, due to the new wiki plugin javascript. Did he already told you ?
lphuberdeau: no
but the new JS really does not interact with anything
nyloth: ok. I think he didn't have enough time to fix it.
I know, but there is probably an incompatibility
Try, you will see
trunk wysiwyg is dead since weeks
lphuberdeau: I don't even know how wysiwyg is supposed to work
nyloth: when you commited ./tiki-jsplugin.php
lphuberdeau: in features, enabled wysiwyg (experimental features)
lphuberdeau: and then, admin > home > wysiwyg : enable it
try with and without tiki-jsplugin.php, you will see :)
sept_7 and I loosed a lot of time to find which commit broke things... and since it was late, I had to go... I suppose he leaved too and didn't have time to fix it

lphuberdeau: not better

lphuberdeau: and really, unless FCKEditor uses a variable called tiki_plugins, there is no way this could break it
nyloth: lphuberdeau: it's no so simple, there may be javascript conflicts
lphuberdeau: hum... no such thing
not unless you load frameworks like prototype that break default behavior
nyloth: lphuberdeau: did you already tried to make jquery work with prototype, etc. ? there is compatibility problems
lphuberdeau: but, hey, wysiwyg was working just before the commit that included js plugin
lphuberdeau: are you 100% certain?
nyloth: lphuberdeau: yes
lphuberdeau: could it be something else?
nyloth: lphuberdeau: yes, but it's this commit. We didn't have time to search wich part of code exactly
lphuberdeau: let me find the revision...
lphuberdeau: fckeditor is impossible to debug
all code on one line makes things impossible to isolate
nyloth: lphuberdeau: we don't have to, it's a third party lib
lphuberdeau: well, figuring out what causes the JS error in the lib helps figuring out what the problem is
nyloth: lphuberdeau: that's right ;)
lphuberdeau: if I remember well, the revision 13873 broke wysiwyg
lphuberdeau: you can try 13872 after cleaning your caches, it should work nice
lphuberdeau: and since 13873, it does not load anymore
lphuberdeau: works in 13990
nyloth: lphuberdeau: ok, sorry, I didn't remember the right commit then. Mea culpa. But it may be due to 13991, which is the other commit where js plugin was involved. Did you test 13991 ?
