chibaguy: thanks.  I'm so afraid to upgrade.  I tried an svn up last week and got a bunch of adodb or some such errors.  Luckily I was smart enough for that brief moment and made a backup which I had to copy back over.
Brando753, you can uncheck "Bottom bar" on Admin Look & Feel page (tiki-admin.php?page=look), under the "General Layout" tab.
This also stops the other things down there from showing. I don't think there's a specific checkbox for the "powered by" line.

If you want the rss icons or translation icons, etc., but not the powered-by line, you'll have to edit templates/tiki-bot_bar.tpl, as far as I know.

I just updated a site with ftp to 2.1. I ftp the files (overwrite if source newer), then run the tiki-install.php page to update the db. Smooth as silk.

hmm, I didn't run the tiki-install.php after my svn up, maybe that was my problem.
The install script takes care of database updates.
(Not content, but table structure, etc.)

You don't actually need to run tiki-install.php if you manually update the database instead, as long as new db additions, changes, etc. are made.
But the script is probably the easiest way.

I'd like to collect some info from the users on registration, namely their location (not long, lat, but actual city / country where they live). I'll try this - sounds somewhat complicated. I am somewhat confused by this step in tracker creation:
There must be a user selector - with the option feeding=1. This field will be automatically filled with the username. Note what the fieldID is for this one. 
leon007, maybe you need to go through the steps of making a tracker, if you haven't done that before.
(but I don't know what "with the option feeding=1" means, either, offhand....)

No, similar but in this case it's "Request passcode to register:" option on Admin Login.
The number isn't random, it's set by admin and people registering have to know it in advance.
I assume from the message you're getting that it's turned on or something thinks it is.

I'm having a problem with categories.  When I set them up, and put pages in them, registered users cannot see the pages anymore.  Anonymous users have: tiki_p_view_categorized and tiki_p_view_categories.  they can see the categories, and the pages, but when they click on the page, it says permission denied....?

If it succeeds, I'll keep setting up that tiki tomorrow. If for whatever reason the upgrade fails, I'll get an old version of tiki110cvs in the mean time (while the site is successfully upgraded)

Ok, followed the categories documentation exactly.  I have one category, with view permissions to registered and anon.  The anon account has both view permissions for categories and categorized.  Registered inherits all from anon and also had edit categorized.  The registered and anon users can see the category, but cannot see any pages in the category.  I have one test page in the category.

I just created the page, its default.  I just checked, and no perms assigned to that page.

xavi: seems though, as I just duplicated, if I add those to the category, the pages and the categories become invisible to anon and registered user...   I don't know why.  But the behaviour I have now, is what I needed.  I don't want any restrictions on pages in the categories, just using it as an organization structure.
Ok, so heres another question, before I upgraded to 2.1 from 2.0 my logo was flush with the top of the window, now its bumping it down as if the search bar has its own row.  Is this some option I can change?

those are created by some script we run once in a while
but from trunk, if you just create a patch, the installer will handle it for you if it does not have _tiki as a suffix

My first customer for "charity in a box" has the usual help@charity.com. This will allow a group of volunteers to handle the messages as they come in, trackers and wiki to hold the history. Group webmail to allow them all to read off and work on collaboratively the email list. All integrated in to TW.

sylvieg, I took the class linkbut off of links that were inside a certain span or div, and so the class wasn't needed. If a theme lost the style, it can be put back with the contextual selector (span a or div a -- I don't recall their class name offhand).

mmm, some more help needed. I need to delete 500+ wiki pages from a production site. tiki-listpages.php is (was) expected to do it, but it's not on 2.0. The multiple checkboxes work for selection, but when you select "remove" from the drop down, it asks for confirmation, and after confirming, it reloads the page without deleting pages 
I will take a look. My intention was to make the change only where it wouldn't cause a problem.

1.9.6 to 2.x isn't a small update
I would reccommend you set-up a 1.9.6 somewhere else, import your production data in there and test the update before making it live
in fact, it's probably better to update to 1.9.11 first

tiki_schema was just added to tiki.sql... if you installed before running the thing, it's left in an inconsistent state

ok I checked and the table tiki_schema is in my db, but I got the error at install time

here is the thing... when you update, if tiki_schema is missing, it will take that into account and install the patches in the old way

however, on clean install, it expects the table to be in, because we control the source
this is a temporary problem in the transition ;)

but why cant we just run the php db conversion scripts at install time so tiki.sql is always the maste rand the others get created at install time.

I need to do the opposite: push Images/Articles from my TikiWiki site out to other sites.  For example, any scripts for uploading images to Picasa?

I suspect I'll have to write scripts to grab RSS data and use that to grab images for upload.
uploading has nothing to do with RSS
picasa probably has APIs you can call, but that's all custom code on tiki side
I mean using a TW RSS feed from an Image Directory for the script to find uploaded images.  The script would probably be a cron job, running outside the TW environment.
