Tis security related, i'm wondering how someone would be able to gain access to a wiki in such a way as to create an account and give themselves admin access?
I don't think the password to an existing admin account was guessed

As far as i know, new members on the wiki don't have the permissions to delete pages or admin themselves. If that's what you mean :o
I was thinking more of the file permission settings on the wiki root files.  Is this a windoze or unix installation?

Yeah, he never bothered using a Proxy either as far as i know
We've banned his IP through the webserver, but he could always grab a proxy and return. So we've disabled registration on the Wiki for now

Not at all.  I'd alert the hosting company, there may be other, more serious, security flaws.

All they done was edit a few Wiki pages and delete one permanently

Its pretty transparent to the end-user.  If the db isn't secure, most anything can be done to the site without really using the wiki pages.

sylvieg .. I did fix the problem I asked about earlier with installing the workspace mod.  After a massive greping of the whole tree, I edited the "features-aulawiki.info.txt" to correct the INSERT strings to match the table stucture. 
Eve, maybe you should talk to the perpetrator, if he knows you know who he is he may not try it again.
I doubt i'll get anything sensible out of him, or that he'll be scared. He sent PM's to the admins on our forums beforehand with what he probably thought were badass insults then started trash talking us on some other board only to be banned there too

i have no idea. i installed the wiki and connected it to an empty database
then started importing an old backup table by table
i believe though, that the theme was a custom one

now i was trying to help koios do the same
where do i acess plugins mac?
plugins ar - basically - php-scripts stored in /lib/wikiplugins folder
and they are - basically - put into wikipages by adding the right incantation to the page
ok so i copy paste my irc code and put it in that folder
that incantation is {PLUGINNAME}
i provided you with a zip-archive, containing all the necessary files to put pjirc on your site
you need to unzip that  and upload the contents to your webroot

when you've done this you can insert {IRCCHAT()}my chat{IRCCHAT} in any wikipage 
and tikiwiki will show the java plugin there
