***: Caarrie is now known as Caarrie|sleeping
chibaguy: Speaking of convention, I have to figure out how to write docs on site Look & Feel config and theme making/modding, realizing that my themes have diverged quite a bit from the olde methods (which are still used by some themes in Tiki 2).
SEWilco2: It's around Halloween season, and candy apples are quite in season.
chibaguy: Ah, good point, SEWilco2. I forgot about that.
SEWilco2: Grr. I see I have a "/tmp/" directory in existence, but can't find it in TW config. It's not in Admin>filegal nor >imagegal.
Of course if one wants messy convention, go for bobbing for apples.
chibaguy: Here in Japan, we have candy apples at summer festivals. Halloween is beginning to catch on (imagery in ads, etc.), but isn't to the eating candy apples stage yet.
SEWilco2: I realize I was thinking of caramel apples. Am not certain if candy apples are different.
chibaguy: Same, I think, except for color/flavor.
SEWilco2: I should have written down my configuration as I configured, so I wouldn't now have to find what I configured where.
chibaguy: Did Tiki make that /tmp/ directory? At my 2.0 fresh install, I have a /temp/ but no /tmp/ .
SEWilco2: Heh. Finally thought to see what is in the directory. It's some web design notes which I'm using during site creation.
I was expecting to see uninformative hashes.
Hmm. Maybe there should be a way to request an HTML or XML description of the content of TW filegal/imagegal dir be dumped in same dir, and a way to reload same info in case of data loss.
(I rather dislike having imagegal's dir only full of hashed names and no way to recover if the corresponding DB is damaged or gets out of sync)
The YouTube debate was interesting. Maybe we should offer a TikiWiki Presidential Debate in 2012. Negotiating which features to use would be a problem.

<whew>
tiki needs a 'safe' way for adding script
lphuberdeau: I guess we'll have to block that
ricks99: argh :)
actually, things like {literal}<{/literal}script> work just fine, too
prehaps, there needs to be a global per somewhere. block all potential scripts. but with a way to override for specific groups (i.e., allow admin to add scripts)
it looks like you can insert *any* php coding to bypass the sanitizer.
***: MatWho has quit IRC ()
mac|jaeger: you will never be able to block all kinds of scripts, as you can't really control what will be rendered on client site
you'd have to disable most of tikiwikis features to make it "waterproof", but then it'd be no fun anymore...

mac|jaeger: our use of tikiwiki is in an rather controlled environment, more like a team-collaboration-suite
there's hardly any fear for user abusing the system
but of course that's different with most tw sites
and i totally agree that limitations should not lie in design, but be implemented on a permission base
