cndIs there any such thing as a "negative permission" or "negative category" ?
For example...
At my school - we've got a "Year 4" category - so any staff, students, or parents in year 4 can see this content.
How would we let teachers choose to prevent parents from seeing selected pages ?
(hint - there's 13 years at the school, so we've got just over 13 categories at the moment. I don't like the idea of creating an additional 13 categories just to separate out the parents...)

genkion my "master" tiki in the "intertiki" features section, the default for "intertiki slave mode" is "as master" but i've been told I need it to be "no"
when I click no and save, it automaticaly reverts back to "as master"......could this be a problem
[05:53]
chibaguyAt tikiwiki.org, it just says "no".
It's a dropdown, but only contains "No"
What version of Tiki are you using?
[05:56]
genkiso i've been told....I can't seem to set my "master" tiki to "no" i've even cleared the cache
2.2
[05:56]
chibaguyHmm. same. [05:57]
genkiI've disabled the intertiki feature and re-enabled it [05:58]
chibaguyNo other information in the "Intertiki client" section, right? [05:58]
genkicorrect....nothing ticked
nothing written
[05:58]
chibaguyI wonder where that "as master" is coming from. [05:59]
genkiwhen you set up the "client" machine the "as master" drop down appears [05:59]
chibaguycnd, I'm not sure about permission strategies these days, as it's been a while since I've done much with them.
genki, right, I see that at the slave site.
[05:59]
genkiis there a way to reset the defaults on my "master" [06:01]
chibaguyI'd be tempted to check the database directly to see if the "as master" is being stored there. [06:02]
genkihow do i do that? I am not a super computer wiz.... [06:02]
chibaguyWell, phpMyAdmin running on your site would be the tool to use. [06:03]
genkiokay, loggin in now..never used this though...can you hold on a sec while I try ?
ok, so where in the database do you reckon "as master" is kept?
[06:04]
chibaguyProbably in the tiki_preferences table. [06:05]
genkiokay....i'll check there
hrm...any idea what the name might be?
[06:05]
chibaguyShould be like intertiki. [06:07]
genkii don't think it's there i've only got 30 entries, none look close to being intertiki
any other ideas?/
[06:07]
chibaguyOnly 30 entries in tiki_preferences?
chibaguy has 24 pages of 30 rows each.
[06:08]
genkioops..nope more than that...i didn't see the thingy on the top...sorry...Told you i'm a newbie [06:08]
cndWell - I'm *very* happy with how all the permissions stuff has worked out for our school install so far. I'm probably going to try an upgrade from 2.2 to 3.0, get commit access, experiment with fixing some trivial things, then investigate adding a new "tiki_p_block_categorized" permission into the meltingpot, and adjust any relevant code to make it work :-) [06:09]
genkiAha!! found it.. intertiki_mymaster page 18 of 20....hrm..now what? [06:10]
SEWilco2cnd: There's an admin option for something like "all categories must allow permission". Maybe that would help. [06:10]
chibaguyIs intertiki_mymaster in the preferences "name" column? [06:11]
genkiyes....actually it is " feature_intertiki_mymaster " with NO value to the right [06:12]
chibaguyWell, you can delete that row safely. Any other rows containing "intertiki"? [06:14]
SEWilco2cnd: Also, specific permissions override general ones. So if group "Parents" has permissions for Group "Permissions - No Parents" which do not include read permission, then that specific permission overrides general permissions. [06:15]
genkithere is also a "feature_intertiki_server" enabled with "n" [06:15]
chibaguyYou can delete that, too. I don't think it should make a difference tho. [06:19]
genkiokay. shall i just go through and delete all the "intertiki" entries [06:20]
chibaguyYes. [06:20]
genkisweet! Then I'll give it another go..Thanks again for your help. you are always patient! [06:20]

chibaguyHow does your master intertiki admin page look? Is the dropdown showing "as master" again? [06:40]
genkinope, it's back to the default "NO" ... [06:41]
chibaguyThat's progress. [06:42]
genkiyes....MUCh progress actually. I spent quite a long time fiddling last night with that
okay, hrm. wonder where the problem now lies
if i've got the master tiki slave tiki hosted at the same site, would that make a difference
[06:43]
chibaguyI don't know.
Doesn't seem like it, but I don't really know.
[06:48]
genkiwhen you put down your IP address do the folders make a difference?
for example www.mysite.com would have the same ip address as www.mysite.com/tiki

Caarrie" * remove some optional php closing tags to reduce risks (e.g. headers sent too early due to carriage return after the closing tag)"
no idea what that means though
[17:44]
ohertelYah I remember, see above. :)
if you set stuff in php, and inbetween or the end is a linebreak or a space, and then you try to set http headers, you get an error like "headers already sent".
And if you use the ?> then it seems the chance is great that some bad IDE / editor adds a linefeed or something, breaking the application. :)

cnd(yeah - sorry - I forgot that I made my own theme and moved everything around :-) [22:04]
LateralI'll just check a page - thks for this help, by the way [22:04]
cndIf it doesn't work immediately - you need to click the 3 "cache exterminator" icons in the system menu [22:05]
Lateralgood tip - I'll go find them [22:07]
btiffinUmm; Lateral; The top two wiki watch settings means auto-set watch if you edit or author; might be overkill for some users [22:07]
LateralYes - just trying to get the icon up and then back off settings [22:08]
btiffinAnd under my My Tiki menu there is a My Watches; Do you see that menu item? [22:09]
LateralDid the cache exterm - still can't see the eyeball -

btiffin:) Tiki is a fair sized beasty. I've got to convince some of our team that it ISN'T too big, but just right for an ALL-IN system. ;) [22:13]
Lateralbingo - that's got it
This is one hell of a program - I stumbled over it from MediaWiki because I wanted group control
I'm going to tell my boss to throw some cash at this - I guess there is a "donations" or support page somewhere
Ok - got the eyeball now and seems to work
thks

SEWilco2I'm seeing an error in the third cache flush option with SEFURL postfilter on. tiki-admin_system.php?do=temp_cache
Actually, I'm getting a DB error message on my trunk test site, although I don't see what's wrong in the DB message.
