cnd: Is there any such thing as a "negative permission" or "negative category" ?
For example...
At my school - we've got a "Year 4" category - so any staff, students, or parents in year 4 can see this content.
How would we let teachers choose to prevent parents from seeing selected pages ?
(hint - there's 13 years at the school, so we've got just over 13 categories at the moment. I don't like the idea of creating an additional 13 categories just to separate out the parents...)

genki: anyone ever setup intertiki or is able to offer a little help?
chibaguy: genki, did you check the doc page?
***: VK4MSL has joined #tikiwiki
genki: yes, I followed the instructions last night with the doc page...I'm still experiencing difficulties
i've deleted my "client" intertiki and started again
***: Redhatter has quit IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
genki: on my "master" tiki in the "intertiki" features section, the default for "intertiki slave mode" is "as master" but i've been told I need it to be "no"
when I click no and save, it automaticaly reverts back to "as master"......could this be a problem
chibaguy: At tikiwiki.org, it just says "no".
It's a dropdown, but only contains "No"
What version of Tiki are you using?
genki: so i've been told....I can't seem to set my "master" tiki to "no" i've even cleared the cache
2.2
chibaguy: Hmm. same.
genki: I've disabled the intertiki feature and re-enabled it
chibaguy: No other information in the "Intertiki client" section, right?
genki: correct....nothing ticked
nothing written
chibaguy: I wonder where that "as master" is coming from.
genki: when you set up the "client" machine the "as master" drop down appears
chibaguy: cnd, I'm not sure about permission strategies these days, as it's been a while since I've done much with them.
genki, right, I see that at the slave site.
genki: is there a way to reset the defaults on my "master"
chibaguy: I'd be tempted to check the database directly to see if the "as master" is being stored there.
genki: how do i do that? I am not a super computer wiz....
chibaguy: Well, phpMyAdmin running on your site would be the tool to use.
genki: okay, loggin in now..never used this though...can you hold on a sec while I try ?
ok, so where in the database do you reckon "as master" is kept?
chibaguy: Probably in the tiki_preferences table.
genki: okay....i'll check there
hrm...any idea what the name might be?
chibaguy: Should be like intertiki.
genki: i don't think it's there i've only got 30 entries, none look close to being intertiki
any other ideas?/
chibaguy: Only 30 entries in tiki_preferences?
-: chibaguy has 24 pages of 30 rows each.
genki: oops..nope more than that...i didn't see the thingy on the top...sorry...Told you i'm a newbie
cnd: Well - I'm *very* happy with how all the permissions stuff has worked out for our school install so far. I'm probably going to try an upgrade from 2.2 to 3.0, get commit access, experiment with fixing some trivial things, then investigate adding a new "tiki_p_block_categorized" permission into the meltingpot, and adjust any relevant code to make it work :-)
genki: Aha!! found it.. intertiki_mymaster page 18 of 20....hrm..now what?
SEWilco2: cnd: There's an admin option for something like "all categories must allow permission". Maybe that would help.
chibaguy: Is intertiki_mymaster in the preferences "name" column?
genki: yes....actually it is " feature_intertiki_mymaster " with NO value to the right
chibaguy: Well, you can delete that row safely. Any other rows containing "intertiki"?
SEWilco2: cnd: Also, specific permissions override general ones. So if group "Parents" has permissions for Group "Permissions - No Parents" which do not include read permission, then that specific permission overrides general permissions.
genki: there is also a "feature_intertiki_server" enabled with "n"
chibaguy: You can delete that, too. I don't think it should make a difference tho.
genki: okay. shall i just go through and delete all the "intertiki" entries
chibaguy: Yes.
genki: sweet! Then I'll give it another go..Thanks again for your help. you are always patient!
chibaguy: good luck. :-)
genki: yeah! I think it now works!!

chibaguy: How does your master intertiki admin page look? Is the dropdown showing "as master" again?
genki: nope, it's back to the default "NO" ...
chibaguy: That's progress.
genki: yes....MUCh progress actually. I spent quite a long time fiddling last night with that
okay, hrm. wonder where the problem now lies
if i've got the master tiki slave tiki hosted at the same site, would that make a difference
chibaguy: I don't know.
Doesn't seem like it, but I don't really know.
genki: when you put down your IP address do the folders make a difference?
for example www.mysite.com would have the same ip address as www.mysite.com/tiki
chibaguy: yes, same ip address
genki: aha...ok, so the "remote.php" file location....in my tiki root dir yes..
***: SEWilco2 has left
genki: so when I write the location if my tiki is www.mysite.com/mytiki then will the location be /mytiki/remote.php

luciash: heya :)
ohertel: Hm, is there a problem with tiki-setup.php?
sylvieg: marclaporte: I think we will have to roll back the rewrite for page with . - th list will never stop
ohertel: Both branch-2.0 and trunk give me a broken version.
It's about 6-7k each and stops right in the middle of nothing. ^^
So all the taballs are borked because of this.
tarballs
luciash: i've just upgraded my trunk and it works
maybe it's fresh install problem ?
ohertel: No install.
only checking out from svn.
At work I DLed the tarball today and wondered why it didnt work. Now I checked and the tiki-setup.php is broken in the tar file.
marclaporte: sylvieg: yes, it's very tricky
ohertel: btw. do we need both, BRANCH-2-0 and trunk? or trunk only?
both script do an rm -rf before the svn export, so it can't be old files or something... strange.
scripts
luciash: full disk ?
:-p
ohertel: Available: 442120408
No. .P

luciash: :)
ohertel: I'll try the update script manually, maybe it's a cron thingy... ,)
We already had the weirdest things with cron already... at work. Under Solaris, though, not linux. =)
Solaris is YUCK anyway. ^^ We were trying to find a really strange memory problem for a long time. Until we found out that the bug is in the "tail" command we were using to hunt down the bug in the logs. .D
luciash: *g*
ohertel: It just ate up like 2GB of memory within seconds under certain conditions. .D
And we throught it was a bug in our application. ^^
Ok, did an export of trunk and the tiki-setup.php is broken again.
Last line is "$smarty->assign('tiki_uses_cvs', $TWV->cvs);"
marclaporte: sylvieg: : lph has a proposal for .htc/.pdf, etc
luciash: ohertel: hmm, i have the same here but my tiki works
ohertel: I'll checkout on windows now, too.
Jyhem: I agree with the issue with the list of exceptions to wiki page names with "." -> it can't work, the list is infinite
ohertel: luci: what I do is: svn export https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/trunk trunk
Is that wrong somehow? ,)

checkout ^^
ohertel: I dont want a 'working' copy, only a copy for tarballing it, it export not good for that?
luciash: ohertel: i do checkout and svn up then only but to avoid svn dirs export might be correct
Jyhem: I've been thinking on the lines of calling the wikipages something like www.example.com/wiki/page.name_with.dots.or.not instead of trying www.example.com/page.name_with.dots.or.not
ohertel: Can someone else try a fresh export? ^^
Jyhem: Easier to separate what is a wiki page from the rest, no ?
ohertel: Okay, eclipse with svn gives me the same broken tiki-setup.php.
147 lines only.
luciash: ohertel, i have the same
ohertel: broken too?
luciash: try diff or last commit msg if anything changed
ohertel: or eclipse+svn? ,)
***: Lucymoz has joined #tikiwiki
luciash: i don't consider it broken as it doesn't break my tiki, just the same length ;)
ohertel: But it's incomplete!
luciash: i understand
ohertel: starts with <?php and ends with $smart->assign(...); ... thats definitely borked. ^^
Caarrie: http://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tikiwiki/trunk/tiki-setup.php?view=log
ohertel: hm...
Caarrie: seems to have been like that for months ohertel
ohertel: So it is broken and no one ever found out?
luciash: are you sure trunk uses that file still ?
ohertel: If not, why is it still in then?
Caarrie: luciash: if not why was it modified 13 days ago?
luciash: no idea :)
but someone said closing ?> is not mandatory in php and for some reason it should be like that
iirc
ohertel: Sorry, but not closing tags is pretty bad style. No?
luciash: for some other problems
lphuberdeau: tiki-setup is still used... no questions on that
luciash: yes, i wouldn't do that either ;)
ohertel: And at work I tried to run it and got "premature end" or something like that. ,)
lphuberdeau: which PHP version?
ohertel: No idea. 5.something.
luciash: it's maybe in newer php versions, dunno, see the logs who introduced it
Caarrie: ohertel: the export does work here
ohertel: php files should always close, so you know that you have the full file and not just the half.
Caarrie: yah, and ending NOT with ?> too, right? :)
the tiki-setup.php I mean
Caarrie: ohertel: as i said above it is the same for months in svn ;)
ohertel: But that doesnt make it any better. .P
luciash: weird, i can't see it in the logs... might be it was another file
lphuberdeau: I can confirm that trunk works...
ohertel: Ok, no broken tarball then, only a 'weird' one. .D
lphuberdeau: may not be the tarball that's broken
no ?> at end of file is valid PHP
ohertel: Yah, but it confused me a lot. So why not close it... it looks so incomplete. :)
lphuberdeau: the purpose of not closing it is that you have less risks of having characters after the end and break headers... many bad IDEs keep adding lines at the end
ohertel: ah okay.
Breaks your neck if you set stuff in php with trailing whitespace and then try to set headers... "headers already set" ... I know that one. ^^
luciash: maybe we can put a comment into the file at the end
ohertel: set -> sent
// stop reading here .)
luciash: to prevent other confusions ;)
lphuberdeau: // ?>
ohertel: good idea. :) Last time I tried a fresh checkout I got this problem with categories, where I didnt see the ...categorized permission and therefor couldnt get stuff working.
Caarrie: ohertel: http://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tikiwiki/trunk/tiki-setup.php?r1=9585&r2=9595 ;) look at the last line of the diff
nyoth did that commit it seems
ohertel: ah there it is... or better: there it went. ,)
Caarrie: " * remove some optional php closing tags to reduce risks (e.g. headers sent too early due to carriage return after the closing tag)"
no idea what that means though
ohertel: Yah I remember, see above. :)
if you set stuff in php, and inbetween or the end is a linebreak or a space, and then you try to set http headers, you get an error like "headers already sent".
And if you use the ?> then it seems the chance is great that some bad IDE / editor adds a linefeed or something, breaking the application. :)
-: Caarrie knows almost no php
Caarrie: do you still need the tar?
ohertel: No, but thanks for checking.
Caarrie: about 2 minutes and it will be uploaded :P
ohertel: No, dont need it, as I know it will be the same as mine. :)
