(I will just add my 'no tabs' button when I will have 5 mn)

sylvieg: I will go for duplicating place where the same info can be changed - I do not see a side effect
I will go all the language stuff in i18n (can change - available language)
luciash: when we are done with the admin revamp we need to encourage translators to update the language files before 3.0 release
ricks99: y. I've been trying to reword/simplify some of the labels, too
i guess that moving an option from to another also implies updating the asociated php, too?
sylvieg: thx ricks99 - good to have a native English speaker to do this work
ricks99: lol.... native *Southern* speaker, y'all :)
sylvieg: yeh but it is easy simple_set_value('sdfsdf') or simple_set_toggle('sdfsd');
it is why I will go when it is not easyto duplicate place we can change the same prefs
it is mainly only duplicating the tpl string
ricks99: k. i'll dig through... also, some admin pages have multiple "SAVE" buttons. appears that it uses different secions of the php. how hard/easy to change to a single SAVE button
sylvieg: ah ah... we come back to the definition of a tab? Is a tab different page with different saves or a tab has only one save....
(it is why I do not like tabs in admin page)

sylvieg: ricks99: I agree with you
with the wiki page should have some tabs....
ricks99: y. wiki is next (right after login)
im putting tabs on login page -- each auth service on a separate tab. with a General tab for the global options
no need for me to see 30 PEAR options if im not using PEAR::Auth
helpless_urls: Ricks99, there is no $base_url entry in the php.ini ... can I just add it anywhere?
ricks99: i think so.....
helpless_urls: as far as syntax, just; $base_url = http://mydomain.com ?
ricks99: actually, i think its in httpd.conf -- not php.ini
i think its called serverroot ?
helpless_urls: that is the location of the apache server on the drive...
ricks99: not sure then :(
helpless_urls: definitely did not work in the php.ini...I couldn't get services running at all.
This is a HUGE usability problem if you can't correctly build a URL. Not to pooh-pooh other issues, but it renders the program unusable.

sorry, that is Firefox.
relative links to an edit page are being built as: http://tiki-editpage.php/?page=Documentation&page_ref_id=1 and of course that will fail.
So I guess these are open questions: if I edit .htaccess files, which do I need to edit (or all of them)? If I can define $base_url as a hard-coded URL where should I do that? I previously modified tiki-filter-base.php to add [code] if ( substr($tikiroot,-1,1) == '\' ) $tikiroot .= '/'; [code] and that helped when there were double "\"
in tiki 3.0 Edit, Source, Remove, Rename, Perms, History and Make Structure all come up with relative URLs, where Add Comment and Attach File do not (they are javascript references). The latter two work, the rest do not.

helpless_urls: SEW, where am I trying the URL from? Adding the link to where?
SEWilco2: helplessurls: Type that URL in your browser, with whatever your domain is.
luciash: ricks99_: but if you have all the inputs accessible *before* enabling the remember me (for example) you can pre-configure them and *then* enable it so you can avoid any unwanted situations
SEWilco2: helplessurls: If Knowledgebase works in your URL, you know your web server is configured to use .htaccess and your .htaccess permissions are right.

SEW, Backslashes are staying backslashes. htaccess rules seem not to be doing much rewriting.
SEWilco2: That's odd, I thought I saw this working a minute ago, but not now: http://knowledge.clearviewdms.com/knowledge
helpless_urls: Some of the options at the end of the line can stop further processing, so $1/$2 would not get processed further. I don't remember what [QSA,L] does.

I would have never thought so, but I really was asked today with the words "Well, it's just 1.9 and not 2 or 2.2, but still it would be cool to test drive it."
xavi: hi amette, remember you can test the livecd with vmware or virtualbox
amette: thanks xavi - I'll check that out! Who made that one? Is there coming a current version of it, too?
( 3.0 really greets you with a nice and friendly face - I like that :) )

xavi: I made that one (liveCD)
amette: that was quick :)
I remembered so - but wasn't sure! ( even used your name today because of that already ;) )
xavi: tried another one with 3.0 based on xubuntu, this time, but it uck has a bug on the mysql, so it doesn't work well
amette: oh, damn... what kind of bug?
xavi: mysql-server complains about dependency problems... :-7
:-/
weird bug, because mysql works, but no nice display.... (themes are not displyed properly).
I might create another (updated) version of the current LiveCD with 3.0, which is based on and old Slax GNU/Linux 5.x
or you can create it yourself, if you wish... :-) all needed tools to make an updated version are inside the current SlaxTiki LiveCD :-)
amette: oh, ok - that really is a weird bug then.. :-/
hehe, thanks, but ok - I don't think I'll start playing with LiveCD-authoring too soon... ;)
now phone here :P

helpless_urls: Looking for help...I'm Running a WAMP server Win 2000. looking for a work-around where URLs are created with irregular slashes "//" and "/" by Tiki in RELATIVE URLs. This appears to happen only on Tiki running on Windows2000 - 2008, and for Firefox browsers. It seems in some cases $base_url is not set correctly. Others have this issue and as yet is not resolved in Tiki 3.0. Please see: thread: http://tik

-: SEWilco2 looks at brick wall on dev.tw.o and thoughtfully hefts his sledgehammer.
xavi: sylvieg, what was your problem with profiles?
I've just upgraded a previous trunk to latest, went to profiles, and I see the latest date and time updated (from a minute ago)...
What should I test?
sylvieg: I can not have the list of profiles - when I refresh I see the status becoming yellow - then grey and nothing is loaded
Can you get the list of profiles?
xavi: mmm, I clicked on the refreshcache icon, and it refreshed the date and time
green light here
SEWilco2: Maybe someone should mention a URL segment in case two people are calling different things a "list of profiles"
xavi: after 5-10 seconds
sylvieg: xavi you are a lucky one
xavi: I searched for "Exchange", and I got the profile Exchange_market in 2 sconds this time!
"luck"????
I wish I was...
sylvieg: I suppose I have a timeout...
SEWilco2: xavi: Sometimes skill is better than luck.
xavi: sylvieg, maybe something related to firewall, or similar?
SEWilco2: I fully agree...
... even if I know feeling unlucky even when you are skilled on something!
sylvieg: I got the profile working one time .... only one little time
xavi: (not my case with hphp & mysql coding...)
SEWilco2: sylvieg: Are you and xavi looking at same page?
xavi: mmmm, hold on, I'll try again with a blank new site (files and database), just in case
sylvieg: tiki-admin.php?page=profiles
xavi: yes, same here. SEWilco2 have you tried profiles on trunk?
sylvieg: when I refresh http://profiles.tikiwiki.org
-: xavi is deleting the whole local trunk and copying it again from a updated svn backup
sylvieg: snif... and this code is a pain... to debug - full of ajax...
xavi: thx for testing
***: ricks99 has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
SEWilco2: xavi: No, have not tried profiles. I'm elbow deep in other code.
helpless_urls: SEW, there is an issue that needs to be resolved. I doubt it is that I need a new server license.
my base URL is getting generated at the server as http://mydomain.com/
xavi: np, sylvieg.
***: fantoms has quit IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
helpless_urls: That is being generated by code, I assume.
xavi: SEWilco2: well, better then not to distract you too much from the deep ranges of the TikiOcean ;-)
helpless_urls: I should IF NOTHING ELSE be able to force a $base_url that is accurate.
Why can we just name our base URL sopmewhere as a preference? It would save a ton of coding.
I don't see why it is so hard to believe the code has an error that works unpredictably in a specific situation...
It isn't like this is being rigorously tested.
sylvieg: and now I remember - I have a problem with my php config and with allow_url_fopen - an I rebooted my comuter 2 days ago...
xavi: sylvieg: just installted a blank new svn file set + blank new database, and the profile list is shown with no problems (and took only 3 seconds!)
***: Custom1 has joined #tikiwiki

xavi: sylvieg, and I had the light yellow, but I clicked on refresh, and becase green in 2 seconds again, with updated time
so profiles seem to be working fine on trunk (at least right now)
sylvieg: not for me ... (I think you need javascript on too)
xavi: ah, possible.... I?m just using default installs of firefox 3.x and epiphany ....
on GNU/Linux...
however, I clicked on one profile of the list, and it's taking more than 30 seconds already, and not loaded yet...
ah, loaded already
hey! this is brilliant, there is a way to ask the user to fill in some custom fields just before install time!
sylvieg: rick did a very good job
xavi: rick? oh, yes, tiki install, I agree. But now I was talking about "before [profile] install time"!
so lph is the one for this, afaik

luciash: xavi: huh ?
