like the site login bar inputs are "invisible" and etc. MatWho: ok so I will stick with the thenews ! luciash: :)
lemme know if you'll need help with customization MatWho: It just looks so horrid :) luciash: are you going to build new theme on it ?
i could tell you what looked horrid ! ;) MatWho: well I just need to set the colours and fonts so it fits in with an existing web site luciash: do you think this looks horrid ? ;) → http://www.guardian.co.uk/ or http://www.latimes.com/ MatWho: They both look like old fashioned news papers - which is what they are!! luciash: gary got inspiration from news sites like these for thenews MatWho: Mainly its the Serif font that does my head in! ***: GillesMM has joined #tikiwiki luciash: c'mon, if it's just a font preference, change it and you're saved ;) some people love Georgia ;) Apple Garamond is also a serif font, does it look ugly ?
i plan some color preferences for tiki and maybe font preferences could be there too ;) MatWho: Apple Garamond is a very clever font - Georgia is very nasty
The font and colour preferences would be fantastic
luciash: Where in the CSS do I look to make a gap between the center colum and the two on each side? luciash: gap ? like padding ? MatWho: yes luciash: do you have web developer extension installed in your FF ? MatWho: yes luciash: press ctrl+shif+F and you can identify every element class and attributes
the center is called #tiki-center MatWho: yes so I added some padding to this ID but it did not change in the browser luciash: you can see it's ancestors and children too
*its
#tiki-center {padding: 0 50px} ?
hm, it works here MatWho: so what that does is move the contents in, but I have a colored background (from #main) and I want to see the background in the gap not the white background from #tiki-center
so I need to make the #tiki-center box smaller
when I try it all goes mad luciash: ahhhhhh, then it's not padding man what you want, but margin
#tiki-center {margin: 0 150px}
don't tell me it doesn't work again, please ;) MatWho: it does the same thing as padding, I still get the white in the background
;(
is it ID col1 I should change luciash: no MatWho: oops ... undoing luciash: what white ? you said you changed the background color from white to something else, didn't you ? MatWho: yes by doing body { background: #fec601; ... luciash: if you want some different color for the tiki-center give it there: #tiki-center {background-color: #99ccff; margin-left: 50px; margin-right: 50px} MatWho: tryinig it now .. luciash: you have to see the body color on the sides, don't you ? MatWho: yes I do
but still I have white in the centre col :( luciash: and what you want there ? MatWho: I want the background colour white with a little border of the background colour luciash: the children classes must have set the background color either to transparent or to some different color than white...
hmm, i don't know if the white in middle is what you actually want or if you don't want it white :-p i guess best would be a screenshot ;) MatWho: how shall I get it to you? luciash: what confuses me is when you said: "but still I have white in the centre col :(" and next you say you want it, so why the frown smiley ? MatWho: Its the border arround the center col that I want to show the background colour, I will email a screen shot luciash: email it to me please: luci2009 (-A-) ground.cz MatWho: You have mail! luciash: thank you, okay, it seems you set white background to #tiki-center one of its classes or its children
and it doesn't look like you use margin, but padding instead MatWho: yes you are correct If I look at #c1c2 #wrapper #col1 {background-color: #fff;} and change this to #cfff it works - but why? cfff is not the colour I want, but when I set it the background shows through!! luciash: it works because it's non-valid definition so it's ignored
set it to transparent please MatWho: OK will do!!! Thanks so much luciash :)
You have saved me, I have a very low threshold of pain with CSS!! luciash: np :) MatWho: To celebrate I am going to make a cup of tea!! luciash: hehe :) ***: navster_ has quit IRC (Client Quit)

It is very quiet around here today! sylvieg: after last week end - I am plenty of cleaning to do I did not have time last we...
s/am/have MatWho: do you mean code cleaning or house cleaning? sylvieg: house MatWho: oh not so good!
I am looking at the wysiwyg editor, to see if I can persuade it to work on Safari. It does not look easy! sylvieg: wysiwyg is not working for me on FF. Is it working for oy? MatWho: yes - well the basic bits. I have not tested any plugins etc Lust a basic page with bullets , bold and wiki page links
It is a real pain this is not working well. It has not got much better in the last 6 months and it is really embarrassing when I show it to people. The wiki syntax is just not acceptable in this day and age ;( sylvieg: I know - but it is pretty harad to debug
hard MatWho: I know but I really need it - it is so much more important than most of the changes that made it from 2.0 to 3.0. I dont knoew how to get people to understand how bad it is not having a robust wysiwyg. sylvieg: I will have a look tomorrow - this evening I try to clean up the search a little bit - as I begin that MatWho: oh thanks, i have a big demo on Monday to a really good new client. I can go with FF for that but having the wisywig working in Safari would be fantastic. sylvieg: I have only a safari on PC .. hope it is the same thatn the dafari on mac
is it working for you here?
I remember that a version - do not remember which one (about 6 months ago) was supposed to work with safari MatWho: Just one thing I have noticed, when editing a page in the ifarame for the wysywig editor can you put an ID on the HTML tag. This will make it much easier to style a tiki site with a coloured background. On FF I have to style the HTML tag to get all the backgroung to change, this messes up the wysiwig editor.
hum that is a long time ago. If you go to http://www.fckeditor.net/demo the lates version works fine in Safari. Do you think we could just try merging the files from the fckeditor on to trunk
s/lates/latest/ sylvieg: we are at the last version 2.6.4
:-( MatWho: oh so i guess it wont make any difference then! So why is it so broken in Tiki
what has been changed
Anyway if you can have a look at it I would be VERY happy :) sylvieg: (perhaps I did not do the upgrade correctly - I need to check) MatWho: :) I hope it is some thing like that.
If I can help just let me know sylvieg: ok I have at least one diffenrece between the demo and tw - the input windows has always the same size / the window is highter if I enter more etxt MatWho: Interesting sylvieg: what other difference do you have? MatWho: The main problem is trying to move the cursor around in Safari is very broken. The cursor ends up being very big on the left side.
Also, using the mouse to select text is very broken. If yo try and do Bold it will not UNbold
The window that pops up when you want to add an internal wiki link is missing an OK button sylvieg: ooo on my windows with safari : to move the cursor is ok - so far I can see - mouse to select text is ok - and the widow with ok is ok
the bold/unbold is not working... MatWho: oh I am on a mac sylvieg: I have no mac - only a windows vmware with safari MatWho: So it just got more difficult to fix!
But maybee if you can fix the bold/unbold that will help a lot sylvieg: (I dream to have a mac - my next purchase when we can afford it)
bold/unbold + the wikdonw size.. MatWho: Mac minis are really good and quite cheap :) But yes bold/unbold + the wikdonw size for now. I will test it on the mac once you are done sylvieg: did you try on 2.x? MatWho: safari 2 do you mean? sylvieg: tw2 MatWho: oh hold on I will just now. . .
