Well, fortunately, quite a few mods.tw.o themes no longer needed a tiki.tpl as of 3.0... (the lite.css-based ones)

Hi, running tiki 2.1 and want to include SyntaxHighlighter code (fully javascript ) and want to add <script src="">etc into header.  Grabbed /templates/header.tpl from server via ftp,  modified it , uploaded it and it looks ok on server but changes aren't reflected on site.  Admin->looknfeel->view templates does not show changes either.  Cleared cache - no change.  Have I changed the correct file??
mdale, did you wrap javascript in {literal}{/literal} tags?
mdale: if the JS doesn't require to be put in html head section, you can include it directly in the Look & Feel custom code textarea
chibaguy,  I wrapped any javascript source in {literal}  tags but not calls to include libraries i.e. <script src="lib/syntaxhighlighter/core.js"></script> .  There are plenty of other js files being called in the header that aren't wrapped.  I even added a <!-- html comment --> into the header.tpl but that didn't show up either.

luciash: it might be that.  I'm not using the custom site header option in the look&feel settings so it can't be that.  I am using the eatlon theme though, which may override the default one.  I still haven't got to grips with the structure of tikiwiki and how all the parts interconnect to build and publish a page..  The documentation seems to be so scattered about...
ah, eatlon in tiki 2 has its own header.tpl (templates/styles/eatlon/header.tpl).
Would I be better writing a plugin or a module or a mod or something to include this syntaxhighligting feature?  The {code} plugin isn't great  and doesn;t cover many languages.  I'm just not sure what happens if I have more than one {my module that loads JS files} on a page, will the page end up loading the JS files mulitple times?
I don't know really, but you should check Tikiwiki subversion trunk and branch 3.0 before coding anything.
Maybe the code plugin has been improved etc.
Or do a search on this irc channel; there was talk about code and syntax coloring recently.

Chibaguy:  I've just searched the irc logs and it looks like I don;t have geshi installed which is probably why the {code} plugin looks so poor.  I'll see if I can get geshi sorted out and hopefully not bother you all (for a while anyway).
mycomputer_, there's a file called lock in the db directory that must be removed by ftp or other tool.

The problem is, that we need an index for our wiki. First I tried to do this using categories.
But for categories there is no overview page that's worth to be called so.

btw, i don't know what are the limitations of the ...page... syntax but you could do only one wiki page structured using headings (!! syntax) and than put {maketoc} on top and use wiki section edits for your users then to maintain it
(i don't know how much of data can fit in one wiki page data storage and how it would affect performance)
but afaik only the parts separated by ...page... are being loaded
The problem here is, that tiki has now namespaces so far.
and you can link to anchors, but maybe there would be some other problem for you, so maybe better forget this suggestion ;)

Jyhem: It's actually a limit on what groups a user-admin can assign.  So user-admin can't assign group "Admins" to someone.
With my changes, the user-admin only sees the groups which they are a member of, and are blocked even if they know another group's name.
