Q2 : I've entered the correct field numbers in a tracker to show in a popup on item link, but I don't get the popup when listing the tracker... :/ I assume I have to enable something else first (2.2)

vkumar: Are you trying to fix the bugs in these themes ? gary
chibaguy: Yep.
vkumar: who developed these themes ?
i think that was a very childish question.. but were these themes developed fot tikiwiki or they were altered to suit tikiwiki ??
chibaguy: The ones in the Tiki package are original. Some other themes have been adapted for Tiki.
So the answer depends on which themes you mean.
vkumar: adapted with the permission of the owners ??
DawnLight1: what is "multilingual structures"?
chibaguy: Sure, the adapted ones that I know of are GPL or Creative Commons Attribution.
...licenses that allow us to use and alter them.
vkumar: ok... but then why the creators don't do it perfectly.. i tried few new themes from themes.tikiwiki and they were having some issues... is it not tested before being released ??
***: blackdragon32 has quit IRC ("CGI:IRC (EOF)")
chibaguy: They are tested. What kind of issues do you mean? (And I hope the files you tried were for the correct Tiki release.)
None of the files at themes.tw.o are for Tiki 3, so far.
vkumar: I tried them on tiki 2.2.. I have not tried tiki 3 yet. The kubrick theme was showing the logo two times when i selected site logo. Accidently I found out that the header.tpl file was missing in the kubrick templatesstyles folder. I copied header.tpl from underground theme and it worked..
DawnLight1: is it possible to contribute my translated interface strings to tikiwiki?
chibaguy: vkumar, if a theme doesn't have it's own header.tpl or other file, it uses the default header.tpl. It isn't "missing" unless the theme needs a custom version of the default file.
Kubrick doesn't have a header.tpl at my installations, and works fine.
So I think maybe something else was affecting yours. Possibly the cache needed to be cleared between theme changes.
vkumar: ok.... :) then why this could have happened ??
I think i deleted cookies and resterted the comp multiple times..
chibaguy: But what about the Tiki caches, at your server? Sometimes you get a mix of previous and current theme parts after installing a theme.
...until the cache gets caught up.
vkumar: how to clear tiki cache ??
chibaguy: tiki-admin_system.php : click the trash icons.
vkumar: ok.. i see that... do i need to click on empty ??
chibaguy: About using underground's header.tpl, since Underground has its own, that means it's different from the default header.tpl, which Kubrick expects to use. So trouble could be introduced by making this switch.
yes, click on empty.
vkumar: Done that gary... but as soon as i deleted the header.tpl... the two icons are back :(
chibaguy: Check other settings in the Look and Feel admin page.
***: navster has quit IRC ()

So now I need to backtrack and see how that file got lost.
Sorry, again.
vkumar: ok gary... but i dowloaded the files recently from the themes site .

One problem with suckerfish menus, if you make an item a section, but don't give it any options (sub-items), suckerfish will make the dropdown ul anyway, even if it has no li's.
So a border box appears for the ul, and nothing inside.
luciash: ah, yup, i'm there too, he shouldn't give it publicly ;)
chibaguy: Shhhh.
luciash: yep, because he put them as empty sections i think
it's a problem i noticed too, yep, for example when you make section with items but they're perms/feature dependent, it produces the same effect for users with no such perms to view it
why are the arrows missing on demo.tw.o though ?
chibaguy: jquery isn't turned on, so the classes are missing.
luciash: the arrows in PLM-TREE are ugly as hell ;)
chibaguy: :-)
luciash: i'd replace them with document icon or something

luciash: ah, arrows are there now, what a magic ! :-D
ah, forgot it's jQuery enhancement :)
chibaguy: right.
Do you think it's ok for suckerfish arrows to rely on jquery for Tiki 3?
That'd mean if people want suckerfish + arrows, they also turn on jquery?
I'm afraid if some other way is used for arrows, then if jquery/superfish is turned on, then there will be two arrows.
luciash: we can style it with jQuery off as well
i'd really like to see jQuery superfish shadows finally too... no idea why they're not rendered in tiki

if you have a menu link somewhere to tiki-index.php and are using group homepages, if you admin groups and edit a group, the tiki-index.php points to the group you've edited rather than the default group you belong to...
now I don't think this is really a bug... I expect this behavior is intentional but it just caught me by surprise.
so I guess I shouldn't report it if I don't think it's a bug :)
Comnenus: Darkbee: tiki permissions are really goofy. just a warning. =X
Darkbee: for file galleries anyway.
Darkbee: Comnenus: believe me, I've had my fair share of permissions problems. ;)
Comnenus: Yeah they don't quite inherit as I thought they would.
I've at least got it working now. thank god for irc.
Darkbee: As for the user group/homepage issue, I guess it's not really a big deal (and actually quite useful) since most users aren't going to be messing around admining user groups.
Are you new to TikiWiki Comnenus?

Comnenus: Darkbee: well...mostly

SEWilco2: Hmm. Fixing a bug will change Cat perm behavior. Now: tiki_p_read_categorized allows reading even without user having tiki_p_read. But tiki_p_read_categorized also grants Cal edit icons, Sheet edit, and Blog posting.
So I need to change that if a Cat perm is true then the user must also have the related other permission (tiki_p_read, tiki_p_add_event, whatever).
It's going to break sites which were depending upon Cat granting a permission higher than the permissions which a Group has.
I'm locally coding it as a fix in 2.1/2.2. I'll add it to 3.0 and document the behavior.

Hey, my server is down. And so is the ISP's management interface.
sylvieg: SEWilco2: strnage I have no tiki_p_view for registered and I have a page with cat only visible by teacher. the page is visible by teacher...
Did you test in 3 - perhaps it has been fixed?
SEWilco2: sylvieg: user_has_perm_on_object() has not changed in 3. And I found a bug report from xavi about it.
sylvieg: .. are you on wiki page or other object?
because wiki page does not use anymore user_has_perm
SEWilco2: Other object. In 2.2 there were a few user_has_perm but they were only looking for either Group or Cat *read* or *write* perms.
sylvieg: which object
SEWilco2: I meant for wiki. Permissions are simpler.
sylvieg: because the best fix is to change to get_perm_object
Comnenus: SEWilco2: that makes sense.
sylvieg: I a pretty sure I fixed something about this in get_perm_object
SEWilco2: The problem arises when testing for a perm which does not involve reading, or testing for writing without specifying tiki_p_edit_categorized.
sylvieg: can you give an example
tiki_P_rename for instance?
SEWilco2: sylvieg: Yeah, changing to a different function might be the solution but I'd have to evaluate about 50 situations and learn get_perm_object.
But it's poor form for category to grant a read or write perm which a group does not affect.

macleus: can you set the permissions for individual tracker items or only the entire tracker???
sylvieg: I remember when damian was updating the release and the trunk each year it was painful
SEWilco2: Comnenus: Yes, that is probably due to the Categorization bug. I didn't look at its code, but the bug would probably do that if the filegals have Cats.
nyloth: sylvieg: ok, so for the moment you suggest to do nothing, right ?
Comnenus: SEWilco2: code is just a quick workaround. Instead of completely populating the drop-down list it only lists the gallery from where "upload file" was clicked.
nyloth: sylvieg: we didn't had a consensus on placing copyright in a standalone file
SEWilco2: Comnenus: However, it also is possible that the right permissions weren't being checked. :-(
sylvieg: i suggest to replace to ref to a file - and after to change in 2010 if it doesn not work ;-)
Comnenus: SEWilco2: I was in here talking with people for a while checking all that. Couldn't find anything.
sylvieg: nyloth: yes I know
SEWilco2: Comnenus: Experimental test would be to see if bug happens only when filegal has a Category with tiki_p_read_categorized, and not if no Categories on filegal.
nyloth: sylvieg: well, then I would prefer to just don't take care of this stuff for the beta2
Comnenus: SEWilco2: it should only have read categorized
SEWilco2: however the user was able to see other file galleries from that drop-down list that were categories for other groups.... they are not quite silos, but close.
SEWilco2: Comnenus: The bug is if read_categorized is present, the Group permissions are not checked.
Comnenus: oh
makes sense
SEWilco2: Comnenus: So if you remove read_categorized from the filegal, only the Group permission will be tested.
Comnenus: SEWilco2: making a note to try that tomorrow morning.
