xavi: :-) is it you speaking Catalan or is it mibbit? ;-)
Catalan or Spanish, of course, btw (and maybe "or some other similar lang)
luciash: it's me :)
xavi: :-)
I got tired of waiting for chmod/chown filegals in doc.tw.o and I shifted that setting to store images in db
so I started updating some pics
luciash: hmm, that's dangerous
xavi: in a minute you'll see new images (with the nice reflect effect!) in homepage
dangerous: well, there where no files in file gals
and new images will be saved in file fals
luciash: i mean it will eat a lot of db resources
xavi: so that new images are stored in db ...
oh, well, do you have a phone number from amette, or other way to contact him? (or get a username and pass from doc.tw.o?)
luciash: yes i do but couldn't you just change path ?
to files/
xavi: yes, I could
so that, we leave them there from now onwards?
luciash: (it's the default i think)
xavi: I thought there was a way to safely move images from files to db and the other way round
luciash: not sure, maybe only one way
xavi: ok, I'll change path to files/
-: xavi is in process of deleting the old-fashioned and not-energy-efficient image of the light bulb in doc.tw.o homepage that he added years ago
luciash: these images are pretty ugly, yup :)
best would be something to fit strasa or icons we use
xavi: I agree luci.
for the time being, homepage updated with some new icons
luciash: cool
xavi: at least better than before, imho....
luciash: xavi: just give anonymous perms to view gallery files pls ;)
xavi: :-D
oh well, I was reusing an old file gallery created by another user time ago...
... and I didn't notice that that file gal had object perms...
... removing them right now
and I'll check that global perms are ok
luciash: now they appear
xavi: ok
however, I've changed the path to the files...
and I expected the files to disappear, unless admin filegals oes the job of moving them to the new folder,....
that would be very clever...
luciash: much cooler pics, still i would recommend use of antialiased png files on white bg
these jaggy edges drive me crazy ;)
xavi: the what?
I need to learn how to do that :-)
unskilled newbie playing with images here...
luciash: heh, in gimp you don't convert them to indexed palette but keep in RGB (which is 24bit)
xavi: which one?
luciash: you don't need transparency
at doc.tw.o for the icons
xavi: I had many problems in gimp to keep white bg for the exclamation mark one, so that I ended up converting the svg to png through inkscape, the only way it workded for me
luciash: oh, but inkscape shouldn't do such jaggy edges on the transparent image a t all
well, depends where you got the icon
xavi: luciash: could you please add a page in doc.tw.o for "contributors/authors/..." on "png best practices" using gimp or inkscape?
luciash: sure, that would be helpfull i think, but not today, too busy :-/
xavi: I got the icons from openclipart-0.18 (openclipart.org)
ok, anytime before 4.0 :-)
some icons were only in svg (like exclamation mark), some other came already in svg and png (most of them)
luciash: if you send me these files i can export nicer from inkscape quickly
xavi: there I go...
let's see if pidgin can do that through irc
luciash: i doubt
i'll start my jabber client
xavi: ok, I go to your jabber account, then
ok
do you want me to send you the svg files, or the png?
luciash: svg
xavi: (svg's, I guess)
luciash: hth
bbl
xavi: yes, it helped, luciash :-) cheers
luciash: re
xavi: but don't use the &preview mode, use &display instead, otherwise you get JPEG thumbnail version
see http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-download_file.php?fileId=1&preview vs http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-download_file.php?fileId=1&display
xavi: ok, just copied the syntax from the file galleries
I'll change that on doc.tw.o homepage
module last_articles is not showing all articles :-/ (at least, in doc.tw.o)
neither in homepage, nor in http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Module+last_articles
this article, for instance, is not shown: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/art19 (from march 2009)

chibaguy: sethxx, "sicustomcode, tpl" shouldn't have a comma; it should be a .tpl file. The purpose of that file is to hold some default content that can be input by the site admin in the custom code textarea on the Look & Feel admin page.
The file can either be linked to or its content copied and pasted into the admin textarea.
I used this method to provide some custom code for some themes in Tiki 2.
MatWho: hi chibaguy how are you?
chibaguy: Hi MatWho. I'm fine thanks.

made commit yesterday
sorry chibaguy yes
chibaguy: That's ok; glad it got sorted out in the end.
sethxx: great
glad i could help
luciash: chibaguy: yup i fixed it for strasa tpl
MatWho: copying tpl files is not very good, because it is difficult to ensure fixes get to all the copies in each theme. Did not check if any other themes need fix.
chibaguy: MatWho, I agree. But Strasa was designed without thought of how the template displays the page parts, and these parts diverge quite a bit in Strasa from the other themes.
So the challenge was either to modify Patrick's design closer to what the default blog page is like, or try to rearrange things entirely in css, or give strasa its own tpl files in a few cases.
MatWho: yes it is just important to remember to check each time we update .tpl files
chibaguy: Didn't want to do the first, out of respect for the design, and couldn't manage the second reliably in all browsers, so fell back to the third.
MatWho: yes I am sure you made the correct decision.
chibaguy: Coelese has some of its own too for the same reason.
Heh, I hope so, but it's been a learning experience. ;-)
Also I need to provide more and better docs for such things, so it's no so opaque.
MatWho: yes that would be good, but maybe we should adopt a convention to put a comment in the original file that we have made a copy and where we put it.
chibaguy: Looks like you guys have all been hard at work; I had to be away from the pc all day today.
good idea.
MatWho: I know this would involve making a commit on the original file but it would be worth while to keep this under some control
sylvieg: doc.tw is very slow for me
MatWho: chibaguy: is coelese well tested?
sylvieg: xavi it is because art19 has no language
chibaguy: Well, also make it better known that when a bug seems to be theme-specific, to also check if it has .tpl files.
xavi: sylvieg: ah...
MatWho: hi sylvieg
sylvieg: pretty sure ... if one day I can have doc.tw answering...
hi
chibaguy: mm, depends on your standards, I guess. ;-) Coelese has some unique layout things as it came from the ui-revamp branch, which are still showing some minor problems in the page header area, last time I checked.
sylvieg: xavi: perhaps the behavior should be if no lang specified for the articles -> should it alqways...
xavi: sylvieg: +1
it's been confusing for some time this morning to me
chibaguy: Also it has a couple of tpl files of its own.
so there's potential for trouble.
(I should say Coelesce's page header was fine for quite a while afaik, but then in the last few days is displaying a bit strangely.
which I'm trying to track down.)
sylvieg: btw - good news - I can use profiles now - it is a bug in apache - apache does not load your dns servers if they are added after apache was started - I only have to restart apache after each reboot :-)
chibaguy: (My opinion about theme-specific templates: the bad part is the duplication and possibility that updates will be missed. The good part is that the layout can be more straight-forward and consistent in all browsers....
....positioning absolute/relative is a minefield, imho, esp. when trying to support ie6 & 7.)

but I don't know yet where else id highlight is used.

sylvieg: luciash: I think I need to wait for ohertel - I do not understand where the errors go..... crete gallery stop in the fetchRow in iat_users...

mib_c5mrgs: also, whats the main advantage in 3.0 (beta) ?
xavi: mib_c5mrgs: start with 2.4. if curious with 3: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki3
but you still need first to master the basics, and there might be some tiny sharp corners in 3.0 still, that if you are used to the normal behavior, you identify quickly. If not used to tiki, you might be confused for some time, before identifying tiny bugs from lack of knowledge of how the system can be fine tuned, etc.

marclaporte: xavi: : what are you trying to do?
Intranet is a pretty complete profile, which should demonstrate most things
xavi: marclaporte: ok.
I realized that homepage is not blog but a wiki page, and when logged in, blog was shown. Was that the intended behavior?
marclaporte: intended was for blog to be homepage
like most blogs
and to have some links (about me, etc) as wiki pages
xavi: chibaguy: I agree, much nicer. I get 4 blank popup boxes while changing theme to strasa.css, though (it might very well be an issue of the ie6 for linux)

luciash: marclaporte: oh ?
chibaguy: is option folder icons possible ?
xavi: marclaporte: where do you set the homepage to be a blog instead of wiki, in a profile?
luciash: xavi: you have to put custom URL

luciash: chibaguy: ah, a pity
xavi: chibaguy: oh, well, square blank new windows, like 400 x 400: when I close one, I get another one, until four . and only when the four popup windows are closed, I get the page loaded in the background browser window

3.0 should be able to handle an upgrade from 1.9.x too
xavi: marclaporte: from 1.9 to 3.0 going first through 2.4, I guess, isn't it?
marclaporte: I'd rather not
I think 3.0 should be able to cope
( I am not sure if this is the case, but I hope so)
xavi: :-) oh well, if you succeed, request anyone if not yourself to document your success case in doc.tw.o (I recently documented as id 2.x was needed before 3.0)

rodrigo_sampaio: marclaporte: yeah, I'm also surprised that no one found this before especially the issue with file and image galleries. on my sites the user gets a permission denied when trying to access the image or file gallery home. this because in tiki 2 we check for a new permission (tiki_p_list_file_galleries or tiki_p_list_image_galleries) and the migration script create this perm but does not assign then to the users who have the old permission

marclaporte: rodrigo_sampaio: : I would check with Quality Team
yay for Tikibot!
rodrigo_sampaio: marclaporte: i can send an email to devel list explaining the issue and asking for some feedback to confirm if this only a problem with my tiki farm or if it is a bug
marclaporte: http://dev.tikiwiki.org/Quality%20Team
rodrigo_sampaio: : +1
farms are great because you can detect problems
3.0 contains tiki_1.8to1.9.sql to maybe it can support upgrade
luminoso: any devs here?
unzip feature have utf8 broken on 3.0rc1
xavi: luminoso: add it to http://dev.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Release30process
luminoso: ok
this page is a lot confusing
lol
xavi: luminoso: maybe here "Deal with it now, or it'll just be more painful later"
luminoso: lol
***: caralluna has left
xavi: luminoso: yes, it's a work in progress (hot page), many people editting it in a quick & dirty way, but it works (easy editting of many things of different importance and urgency, etc.)
luminoso: i'm new on this
using tw since 3.0beta1
xavi: luminoso: welcome on board, then! :-)
luminoso: :-)
xavi: if you want to help in the core of the debugging process before a big release, you are 1-step away from doing it in the same place as many of the developpers pushing tiki3 to its birth as stable :-)
anybody knows if you can create a symlink through ftp???
luminoso: xavi, bug added
thank you
xavi: thanks to you
luminoso, in fact, the best way would be to add a bug report in dev.tw.o, and link it to that page, specially if you are not going to follow the evolution of that page... or specially for things that can be pushed away for 3.1 or 4.0
fyi
marclaporte: luminoso: : what is unzip feature?
luminoso: when you upload to file galleries
you can zip a lot of files
and tikiwki unzip them for you
marclaporte: I see. Do you know if it's been reported before?
what does utf8 have to do with this?
CIA-46: tikiwiki: 03luciash * r18453 10/branches/3.0/ (3 files in 3 dirs): [FIX] improved visibility of the help icon, made it using smarty icon function so it can be themed, better position of the icon for strasa theme

luminoso: marclaporte, because it's only utf8 characters that fails to be parsed by tikiwiki
example "o marclaporte está armado em espertinhaço"
marclaporte: in the name of the file?
luminoso: will result in: "o marlaporte est? armado em espertinha?o"
yes
marclaporte: not content
luminoso: is the content of the zip file, that is unziped by tikiwiki
marclaporte: ok
luminoso: also. even if i try to correct it on proprities
it fails
xavi: marclaporte: fyi: "The installer could not connect to the Profiles repository." in a local install
luminoso: and don't change the name at all
marclaporte: please add to dev list and tag http://dev.tikiwiki.org/File+Gallery and http://dev.tikiwiki.org/i18n
luminoso: marclaporte, are you talking to me or xavi ?

wikitikiinfo: hi guys !
xavi: hi wikitikiinfo
wikitikiinfo: yesterday i have the problem with the website i tell..
i change to an other server..
the problem is fixes now.
xavi: congrats. wikitikiinfo
marclaporte is gone. error 500 on profiles.tikiwiki.org
wikitikiinfo: it was easy. i only must change the permisson from the tiki-install.php to 644 and run also the fix...sh .
on profiles.tiki ups..
i must also change the temp file in the php.ini
that was also wrong
CIA-46: tikiwiki: 03luciash * r18454 10/branches/3.0/styles/strasa.css: [FIX] strasa: height of the helper
wikitikiinfo: and on the last database setup i miss the users entry in it. so i make inside the php admin a new backup and take it to the new server
and after that, i can run WITHOUT the tiki-install.php the normal tiki portal entry
ALL worked. without killing the lok file and without run again installer..
oh i forget .. the database entrys.. its clear also to change that ones...
how can i change the wide from a theme file? it fits for now not in the browser when i have an computer in 1280x1024
xavi: wikitikiinfo: install the webdeveloper toolbar in firefox, and play/test editing the css file on the fly to suit your needs
wikitikiinfo: i use fluidindex.css as skin and the wikis are sometimes to wide. and also the admin menue are hangs over
ok. i hear one time from this one.
xavi: play with "CSS > View Style information", and "CSS > Edit css". Web developer toolbar is a grat addon
wikitikiinfo: and if you can, please, document it somewhere in http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Documentation if ot documented already
s/ot/not
s/grat/great
wikitikiinfo: ok. maybe someone should also make a page for the server change
xavi: ok, profiles.tikiwiki.org is back online
"someone" :-) you are welcome...
wikitikiinfo: ..haha not here..
profiles. was online here..
i will try to document. but on one site i read i must run installer again and something...
i think it is also interesting for people to have an standard php.ini file
speacial or tiki wiki done
and also on the download site
xavi: sylvieg: your trick at local.php for multitiki works also for the case with sites in subdirectories...
wikitikiinfo: i read many times, you should change the memory to 32 mb and do this and do that..
-: xavi takes his hat off in front of sylvie and shows again all his respect to her wisdom
xavi: it took me "a little while" to test but yes, it works fine (much better than the old "Akira" trick)
***: wikitikiinfo has left
xavi: marclaporte: why not all plugins enabled by default? (since they are safe nowadays)
and let the admin disable the ones he/she wants to disable, after he/she knows about them, and not the other way round...

ricks99: in 3.0, new install, barebones profile... wiki uses file gallery for images, but no gallery exists. therefore, user gets an error when tyring to upload a new picture. told to create a gallery first (but in the middle of editing a wiki page) :(
should there be a default gallary?

xavi: ricks99: +1 for this, aswell as +1 for creating a default calendar (for the same reason; I tried under blog profile)

for default, new install
btw, all devs: my 1.10 -> 3.0 upgrade was very smooth
