www -: MartinCleaver edits documentation MartinCleaver: hmm. hang on - might this documentation be right for the current version of tiki? am installing 3.0, perhaps that is different? amette: it always depends on how your web-server is set up
tiki-version is irrelevant in this case
the web server needs to be able to run the scripts (PHP) and create files (image upload, etc.), so the correct usage of setup.sh is dependent on which user/group your web-server runs as and what user/group you have tiki installed...
... hard to give a general this-is-the-right-thing-to-do guideline! MartinCleaver: but setup.sh seems to not take user & group as parameters, it takes "fix" or "open" amette: ah, ok, yes, that is again another story...
... that is for Mods-installation! MartinCleaver: and these instructions are for MacOS, so isn't generic
ok amette: "Mods" may install PHP, templates, CSS, whatever...
... and "fix" is the normal thing to have your server secure - PHP/templates/etc. can't be written by the webserver!
So this way no one can put a malicious script in there... -: MartinCleaver saves his changes to http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=OS+X+Install&bl=n amette: ... but for mods you need to temporarily allow that -> "open" ***: pascalstjean has joined #tikiwiki amette: it'll be ok, I think... it's more about how does the "usual" OS X install handle groups, etc.. :)

Guest99790 is now known as FF|Skyrider FF|Skyrider: I installed tikiwiki today ^_^
Though, I'm having a small issue, hoping someone could help me with it if of course someone is around.
I copy/pasted something from a website to a page..
and... well, I can no longer use the page or edit any page..
I keep having "Babelfish (debug): Fatale error" at the bottom of the page. chibaguy: FF|Skyrider: hi, welcome to the tikiwiki world. :-) FF|Skyrider: ty :p chibaguy: I think the babelfish error message might be a separate problem.
If I recall, that might be broken.
anyway, it was when I tried last.
So you pasted something into a wiki page? FF|Skyrider: http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/Earths_Special_Forces_v123_Full;38840
This I copy/pasted
below the banner
"about the mod" and "features"
I copy/pasted those parts
.Once i did that, things started to break down chibaguy: is the part you pasted just html? ***: patlaj has joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: looks like part of an html table containing nothing especially risky
but if the table was missing a tag or something when pasted in, it could break the tikiwiki page FF|Skyrider: any way to restore this?
and shouldnt tikiwiki prevent this? chibaguy: well, you pasted it into the edit textarea of a wiki page? FF|Skyrider: yup
I believe so chibaguy: how about using a url like this: (yourdomain)/tiki-editpage.php?page= and then put the name of the broken page. FF|Skyrider: The only thing I see on that page is "TestTestTestTest"
When saving it
getting an error page
The requested URL /tikiwiki/Goku&saved_msg=y was not found on this server. chibaguy: try the url without the "&saved_msg=y" FF|Skyrider: "The requested URL /tikiwiki/Goku was not found on this server."?
I was wrong, I copy/pasted it on the home page. chibaguy: I think maybe you need to turn off short urls or else rename "_htaccess" to ".htaccess" in your tikiwiki root directory FF|Skyrider: But I get the same error. The requested URL /tikiwiki/HomePage&saved_msg=y was not found on this server.
http://wiki.esforces.com/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php
The edit did worked..
The features no longer has a table around it
but i still can't click the edit button
How a simple copy/paste can break everything patlaj: Hey there - when I turn comments on for a wiki, I'd like the comments to display by default, not the link to toggle show or hide. Is there a setting to do this, or will I have to edit the template? chibaguy: No, it shouldn't break everything. I suspect there might be some other cause. FF|Skyrider: Anyway I can see the error log? chibaguy: this url works for your Goku page - tiki-index.php?page=Goku - which indicates what I said at 01:31 ^^ . FF|Skyrider: How come the edit button doesn't work?
leading to http://wiki.esforces.com/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=Goku#
Also, curious.
Does tikiwiki has simple url's?
eg: tikiwiki/goku.php chibaguy: well, not .php, but wiki.esforces.com/Goku
but you need to do the htaccess rename as I described.
and if your server supports it, you can use the short urls.
when you're logged in as admin, you don't get an edit button on any wiki page?
by the way, the TestTestTestTest on Goku is a link because it's a "WikiWord" (has an internal uppercase letter), wiki link style.
you can turn that off, too, if you want, and use ((Test)) for links. ***: patlaj has quit IRC () chibaguy: if you don't want every "iPod" etc to be shown as a link. FF|Skyrider: so if I keep using Caps, it sees it as a link or something? gezza: patlaj: you can set it in Administration > Admin home > Wiki, find the section about comments FF|Skyrider: And I am logged in to admin, I am seeing an edit button (image) at the top of every page.
but when I click it, nothing happens chibaguy: what tikiwiki version are you using? FF|Skyrider: http://wiki.esforces.com/tikiwiki/pics/icons/page_edit.png
This I see
I installed it today, so the one from the download page :p chibaguy: more than one is available from the download page. ***: patlaj has joined #tikiwiki FF|Skyrider: tikiwiki-2.4.tar
2.4 as it seems patlaj: Hey sorry I lost connection
was wondering if anyone knows how to display comments on a wikipage by default? chibaguy: FF|Skyrider: try changing themes. gezza: patlaj: you can set it in Administration > Admin home > Wiki, find the section about comments chibaguy: FF|Skyrider: if you use Caps inside a word, and have "use wikiwords" turned on, then yes, these are interpreted as links. that's the traditional wiki method. patlaj: Thanks gezza - don't know how I missed that chibaguy: but you can change that on the admin wiki page.
then only double-parentheses will make a link, like ((this is a link)). FF|Skyrider: My my
That worked
I had to change theme. chibaguy: ah, great FF|Skyrider: lol, so the theme is bit bugged? chibaguy: yes, that one wasn't maintained as well as others patlaj: Also... I was going to use Forums and had moderation set up for that. Can I control things the same way with wiki comments? Like, can I give a group moderation rights, require comments to be queued before posting, and alert particular people when a comment is posted? FF|Skyrider: Thanks
But what is "Babelfish (debug): Fatale fout"
at the bottom? chibaguy: I think Babelfish maybe doesn't work, so should be turned off. -: MartinCleaver has installed webmin chibaguy: (maybe not maintained, either, so has old urls that cause the error) gezza: patlaj: when you create a forum you can make these settings chibaguy: tiki-admin.php?page=i18n luciash: hi, sylvieg around ? chibaguy: ...to turn off babelfish FF|Skyrider: Weird thing
when I save the page on another theme luciash: MartinCleaver: tiki runs fine on localhost except the remember me feature FF|Skyrider: I still get

redirecting luciash: gezza: yes, i doubt
gezza: quick fix could be to not display the wiki syntax + plugins help when in wysiwyg mode patlaj: gezza: ah... so no moderation queue for wikipage comments in 2.*? That's a downer... gezza: patlaj: just wait a few more days ;) 3.0 should be out soon luciash: chibaguy: rewriting was correct ;) patlaj: gezza: heheh... thanks chibaguy: ok, thanks, luciash patlaj: Hm, if I have a theme with a number of customized templates, I wonder how easy the 2->3 upgrade is going to be? gezza: luciash: I see..but I cant disable that from the frontend I guess
I dont remember any such setting chibaguy: patlaj, does the theme have tiki.tpl, header.tpl or tiki-site_header.tpl
?
those are the most sensitive, I'd say patlaj: yeah all three :( chibaguy: hmm
Maybe it would be easiest to start with new templates and re-implement your changes. FF|Skyrider: Where can I find search engine friendly?
on tiki-admin.php?page=features .. but where? :P chibaguy: patlaj: is the theme liquid and full-width?
FF|Skyrider: under the "experimental" tab patlaj: chibaguy: yeah - it's heavily customized because I needed to exactly match the look&feel of an existing site
