jonnyb: nkoth3 & MartinCleaver: how goes? i'm more or less done in
MartinCleaver: am waiting for nkoth3
nkoth3: i am still figuring out the structure checkbox not refreshing thing
it seems so simple, yet so difficult
-: jonnyb finds the addition of $params = preg_replace("/^'(.*)'$/", '$1', $params); in wikiplugin_img.php line 92 fixes my image problem
nkoth3: i think I am going to give up on the structures fix for now. It does categorize... it's just that it takes the user another click on the name of the structure to see the effect
looks like a mysql query cache problem
ok MartinCleaver... give the packaging a go
-: MartinCleaver svn ups
CIA-65: tikiwiki: 03mrjc * r18801 10/branches/3.0/doc/devtools/ (release.php tikirelease.sh): allows for pwd with spaces in (for my mac)
-: MartinCleaver is running php release.php 3.0 rc2
nkoth3: jonnyb: need to think more about that... ideally we should not be using single quotes at all unless they are in fact apostrophes (permissable say in image descriptions?, in which case they should be encoded?)
jonnyb: nkoth3: they were allowed in 2.x, hence my several hundred instances
nkoth3: but your preg_replace only picks up at the beginnign and end
so well....
jonnyb: yes, i did start & end just in case
nkoth3: sleep over it and maybe we can put in in final
jonnyb: indeed
nkoth3: I think we are at the stage where "sleeping over it" helps :)

is it only to me?
I downloaded the bz2 package, in case it matters (I guess not, but, just in case)
I'll play a bit more if I see any other oddities...
ricks99: xavi: as designed (i noticed it too)
left col is only avialble after logging in
-: ricks99 not sure that he likes that :(
xavi_mibbit: ah, ok, I missed that discussion, then, about removing the left column
-: xavi_mibbit has not opinion yet on likes/dislikes... just wanted to check whether it was a feature or a bug
xavi_mibbit: for sure the screen looks cleaner now :-)
sylvieg: somebody comiitted - menu not seen as nonymous
I think
ricks99: cleaner maybe, but i think less *clearer*
sylvieg: me too I do not like
xavi_mibbit: oh, well, I like it, it's going to be better for newbies not leaving the main (long) application menu for their users...
but just learning how to add a menu for anons....
ricks99: looking in my crystal ball, i scan see the forum now: "I just installed Tiki and there is no menu!"
xavi_mibbit: in the last two weeks, I got comments from techies from other web engines, saying that if was confusing for them to find things in tiki, when the menus (the main application menu) was so crowded with items...
ricks99: I agree (this is going to be the top 1 question in forums!): we can create it ourselves and make it sticky already! :-D
ricks99: no one reads the stickies :(
xavi_mibbit: ... and I was surprised, because those two guys, in different days, from different tiki-powered communities, they said the same type of comments (they don't know each other)
ricks99: i want a forum feature... when you click "save" tiki automatically searches for similar pages and shows them to you, before posting the message
xavi_mibbit: I ended up doing some short menu (with the nice menupage Module-feature added my mose long ago :-) ) with the minimum items they use to need: screenshot here http://moviments.net/art133
In fact, I've been using the menupage module for each new tiki I created in the last year, and removing the main application menu for anons and plain registered, and my users seems to get lost less frequently ...
my 2 cents-worth reflection on the subject of menus for new users
ok, back to testing a bit that rc2
-: xavi_mibbit will test an upgrade process also in short
CIA-65: tikiwiki: 03sylvieg * r18826 10/branches/3.0/installer/schema/ (20081019_score_tiki.sql 20090515_score_tiki.sql): [FIX] wrong order on instruction
ricks99: y. interstingly, "creating a menu" and "customizing menus" are two of the top pages on "Smarties"
xavi_mibbit: ricks99: I would vote (for 3.1, of course) to add a simple module menupage with basic pre-defined content for new users (new admins), with an "edit" link also on the body of that wiki page for the menu
for many many tiki sites, users feel the pain to lear how to make a new simple menu for their site... and it's very steep for newbies to do that....
ricks99: only problem.... does the menupage support css/phplayer menus?
xavi_mibbit: ... you need to learn about menus, modules, user modules, assigning modules, assigning to the right group/s, etc...
do a wiki page support css/phplayer menus?
well, when you learn about it, you create a real menu with your phplm/superfish/suckerfish whatever techie thingy on that, and add that to a module, and then to the wiki page for the menupage, or as an common user-assigned module....
I think about the users starting with tiki, that they want to learn how to make their "hello world" menu, with the minimum clicks and minimum steepness of the hill
Tikiwiki|bot: New Forum Posts: email notifications - file gallery - http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=33014
xavi_mibbit: then, from there, they can keep moving uphill for the new and more powerful thingies of the menu builder, css, superfish or supersharks or whatever ;-)
ricks99: Hello World menu: http://twbasics.keycontent.org/Creating a Menu :)
xavi_mibbit: ricks99: :-) Hey, wasn't it you talking about the 11 clicks (or so) to make a simple action in Tiki recently ago?
ricks99: yup. try adding an image to a wiki page using the default install profile
PITA
xavi_mibbit: with module menu page you reduce that to 2 clicks (1 for open wiki page, from the module on the column, and 1 for save) + your content to the menu
-: ricks99 will have to play with the menupage module
xavi_mibbit: yes, that's what I mean. I totally agree with you. Imho there should be 1 default calednar created, and 1 file gallery created
http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Module+menupage
^please, It took me a while to learn how to use it (mose didn't like writing the doc., and it took me a while to find the param names and syntax right, which changed between 1.9.x and 2.x, etc.)
but nowdays, it's documented (I did my best many months ago ;-) ) and it's fairly much easier to get a simple menu going in your site, collaboratively, with icons, etc. (as nice or as ugly as you want, just knowing basic wiki syntax)
MinifiedScripts links to a non existing page in documentation, and it's enabled by deafult in bare-bones install.
it would deserve some content from any admin who know s what this "MinifiedScripts" stands for...
http://doc.tikiwiki.org/MinifiedScripts
non-existing page right now
with a nice link to "create page" (if you know what is it about)
and another issue on rc2 still: "Admin > Features > User > Group Watches" links to http://doc.tikiwiki.org/User+Watches , as well as "Admin > Features > User > User Watches" which also links (of course) to http://doc.tikiwiki.org/User+Watches
And http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Group+Watches doesn't exist
(I wonder if the feature existed or exists, or it was removed at some point to reduce duplication with "Group Alert", which exists, even if http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Group+Alert has no content either
sylvieg: group watches and group alert is diferent
group watch is exactly like user watch
group alert you can choose the user in the group of alert
xavi_mibbit: sylvieg: could you drop a line on each of them (on doc.tw.o) if both features exist in tiki3?
sylvieg: ping gillesm for group of alert
xavi_mibbit: or sylvieg, do you know where it's explained? I'll make those pages myself with the minimum text for them,
sylvieg: I can do group watch - but group of alert - need to ask to gillesm
(it is forever turn off on my computer)
MartinCleaver: If you hit "go back" after getting your password change wrong it tries to resend the form with the wrong password. The back button is broken.
xavi_mibbit: Ok, thanks
sylvieg: doc.tw is agin dead for me...
xavi_mibbit: ok, sylvieg, I'll start those pages on doc.tw.o (alive for me)
sylvieg: group watch - an admin can addone or n groups - each user of the group (member at the moment of the notification) will receive a mail. there is no way to a user to unsubscribe to this watch
the mail looks exactly like the user watch mail
if a user has both a user watch and a or n group watches on the evetn - he will receive one mail only
thanks xavi to enter that on doc
the icon is the eye with a little group
... I am not sire that all the thing a user can watch - a group can watch
xavi_mibbit: ok, page is created with that content (better than nothing :-) : http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Group+Watches
and http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Group+Alert (kind-a-stub) also

but yes, this will be for 3.1 or later, not nowadays

I'm finally trying an upgrade from 2.2 to 3.0rc2, and I realize that upgraders don't see see any NOTE in the upgrade process to check/remain them to check the Upgrade instructions that we were updating some days go
I want to add a sentence like this one to tiki-install.tpl:
{tr}If you want to upgrade from a previous Tiki release, ensure that you have read and understood the <a href="http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Upgrade" target="_blank">Upgrade instructions</a>.{/tr}
I know I might get complains for adding a new string to languages... but imho, that info should be there for people just following and reading the instructions from the installer... (not even reading the README file, etc.)
sylvieg ? luciash ? ricks99_ ?... what do you think? would you be ok if I add that line to the install process? (at the step of upgrade)

I know, it's not going to be translated...

ricks99_: do u mean the phplayer menus?
SEWilco2: tim435: All the boxes on the left or right side are called "modules" so you need to describe what kind of module you're talking about.
Jen2009: Hello, How can I avoid having two login boxes (modules) without loosing the logout capability?
SEWilco2: Jen2009: Describe in what way you lose the logout capability, and why you have two login modules.
Jen2009: The solution to not having two login modules would seem to be to delete one, but I don't see how that is related to logging out.
Jen2009: If I remove the login-box from the modules as admin and I am already singed-in I do not have anywhere to logoff
tim435: ricks99_ and SEWilco2: my apologies, I am using the phplayer menus embedded in a module
Jen2009: In the other hand if I keep the login-box and I go to http//mydomain/tiki-login_scr.php I will have 2 boxes
I meant to boxes to login,
SEWilco2: Jen2009: All modules are visible on all pages, and that includes the login page.
Jen2009: Either don't go to the login page when you can use the login module, or remove the login module and only use the login page.
There are redundant displays. If you're showing a list of articles in a module you see those same articles on the page which lists articles.
tim435: If you are tinkering with the CSS appearance of phplayers menus, you'll need to find the relevant style.
tim435: See if that kind of menu lets you examine the 2nd level menu with something like Firebug.
tim435: I don't remember if phplayers is used in my default menu, but Firebug (HTML->Inspect) was able to tell me which line of CSS was controlling a menu line.
Jen2009: If I remove the module I only see on login-box however, after login I can't see any place to log off?
SEWilco2: Jen2009: You log off on the login page.
Jen2009: My login page invites me to log off if I'm in.
Jen2009: Do I need to add a field into a menu?
SEWilco2: Jen2009: How you link to the login page depends on your site design. Some sites don't have a link to the login page if the general public can't log in.
Jen2009: otherwise I still do not see anywhere a sing-off

SEWilco2: Jen2009: When you are logged in, what is in the center of the /login page? Mine says "Login / Logged in as: (my name) / Logout"
Jen2009: I am new to the installation, the center of my login page shows me a menu I choose to display to the left and the group homepage as "My tiki" in the center. No log-off link at all.
SEWilco2: Jen2009: If that menu does not have a link to the login page, then perhaps you should add one. Some sites don't want a link to the login page, if most readers won't be logging in.
tim435: SEWilco2: what if i want a menu style similar to the 'neat' theme and i want the rest similar to the 'moreneat' theme, is this easily doable?
sorry - not menu style - phplayer style
SEWilco2: tim435: For some definitions of "easily".
***: ricks99_ has quit IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
tim435: haha
i like the layout of the moreneat, except for the phplayer - second and third levels+, they don't look right to me
thats all i would really like to fix
SEWilco2: tim435: Try setting the site style to "moreneat" and then go in the "Admin>Modules" page and add menus in other styles, to see what the other kinds look like in moreneat.
tim435: If none of the several menu kinds look right, you can copy styles/moreneat.css to a different name, then try to edit the menu definitions for your new style.
tim435: I don't know the differences between the neat and moreneat menus, so I can't be more specific. It's possible that one of the various menu types or options will do what you want in moreneat.
Jen2009: To edit menu items look in the Admin menu for the Menus choice.
Jen2009: Thank you for your help.
tim435: SEWilco2: the css refers to .mdkverbar do you know where i can find this?
