Hi all. I was wondering about the history of TikiWiki syntax. Why does TikiWiki use doubled parentheses ((foo)) for internal links, but many other wikis use doubled square brackets [[foo]] instead?

Is there a way to have shorter URLs for the pages in my wiki? For example, instead of "/tiki-index.php?page=foo" could I have simply "/foo"?

mikemorr: I am using webchat. There should be a way to load more channels in the same page or tab... if you type http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=tikiwiki,otherchannel it works, but you have to log in again

nicolamr: use the normal external link syntax, or configure 'external wiki' at tiki-admin_external_wikis.php.

can anyone tell me what changes were made in tiki-index.php, tiki-show_page.tpl or anything with smarties or script calls between 3.0 beta2 and 3.1 that might cause a script to stop working?

I've looked over the change logs and can't find anything that might have affected my script.  I even tried replacing the new files with the older versions yet the script no longer loads on the pages, so I'm a bit confused as to what happened.
My question would be why it is still loading the scripts (I checked the pages source code and yes they are being loaded) but nothing is being displayed.
