after many weeks, today I have some quite relaxing hours with no teaching at all...

xavi: ... so that I plan to push documentation forward a bit, in the same line I've been doing previous days, in small chunks
:-)
Btw, I was very glad to see your name as the first one in the documentation team for tiki4 ! (and your improvements, of course)
multitasking chibaguy... :-)
chibaguy: putting my name on the list was the easy part :-)
xavi: btw(2): I've just seen in tikifesttoronto4 page that they plan to test/use BigBlueButton ... any idea on how / where to connect, etc? (I've never used bigbluebutton before, and the tikifest seems to start this weekend)
:-)
My goals for this morning are creating some page for the (missing in doc.tw.o) new plugins in tiki4, such as the one that luciash recently added, etc. :-) (morning luciash)
I mean: PluginTabs (it works pretty well in some trials I did yesterday)... and I'll review the info for PluginCalendar
also, if colorbox allows it (?), we could add some type of slideshow (with non-autostart) with screenshots of the new themes you've been working in for the last months... and are new in tiki4... What do you think, chibaguy?
I could do that also, if you like the idea... and if non-autostart feature is available somehow

chibaguywebchat: couldn't connect to freenode with my usual irc client
xavi, about the slideshow, have you seen the homepage of themes.tikiwiki.org?
I added something called Infinite Carousel there.
it's a slideshow that uses jquery.
xavi: ok, I'll have a look again
(I visted that one day weeks ago when it was not working as expected yet)
hey, you finished Mittwoch! Great! :-)
Sug4r: Erm... hmm... eh.
chibaguywebchat: there's a problem with javascript loading, in trunk. a page refresh seems to be necessary for js to be effective, at least in some cases.
xavi: yes! that's what I meant! GReat job those of you who added that feature!
chibaguywebchat: well, that's an outside script that I just added the js for and put the css in the wiki homepage.
I'll make a wiki page on how to do it.
xavi: oh well, chibaguy, why not adding that as a plugin to tiki4?
that would be lovely for many many tiki users starting to enjoy jquery in tiki ....
chibaguywebchat: well, there is already something called 'cycle', which is a simpler carousel type thing.
but i wanted a slideshow thing that could have text along with each image.
xavi: yes, that's neat!
is it difficult to reproduce at doc.tw.o?
chibaguywebchat: Maybe it could be a plugin, but its javascript would have to be added to lib/jquery/.
xavi: if license is compatible (?), why not?
chibaguywebchat: well, no reason why not, except extra 'bloat' for people who don't need it, maybe.
xavi: Many people are using flickr and picasaweb, etc. because easier to add those slideshow-type-of-things from that software...
extra bloat: ah, do you mean that it will be loaded to all pages as js, even if not used in a wiki page?
***: coaboa_ is now known as coaboa
chibaguywebchat: In trunk/tiki4 it's easy to add such things because of the look and feel textarea for html head additions.
***: coaboa is now known as coaboa_
chibaguywebchat: In tiki 3, it's harder because header.tpl needs to be edited.
(thinking about doc.tw.o)
xavi: yes, but isn't it then added to all pages, even if they don't use it? (boat)
***: coaboa_ is now known as coaboa
xavi: s/boat/bloat
chibaguywebchat: actually there can be a filter: if $page eq 'carousel', then include the javascript, etc.
xavi: yes, that's what I mean to avoid extra not-wanted bloat
chibaguywebchat: right. the only bloat otherwise is the extra bytes of the upload.
xavi: extra byte of the upload?
I don't followyou
chibaguywebchat: I mean it adds to the total size of the Tiki package.
xavi: how big is that?
carousel, I mean
chibaguywebchat: actually, pretty small
xavi: ok, I would say: "+1", then :-)
***: marclaporte has quit IRC (Read error: 113 (No route to host))

xavi: mmm, not sure what that means in terms of compatibility with lgpl
neither do I
oh well, as a Starting point, a wiki page describing how to reproduce what you did in themes.tw.o could be a good starting point, at least :-)
chibaguywebchat: yes, I've been meaning to do that.
about big blue button, I haven't tried it yet.
xavi: hey, great doc, here!: http://themes.tikiwiki.org/Floated+box+demo
chibaguywebchat: :-)
xavi: multitasking chibaguy.... :-)
chibaguywebchat: themes.tw.o needs some major reworking, to get up to date.
-: xavi is back to screenshoting and documenting
chibaguywebchat: I've been trying to think about menus there, and organizing the information better, to be current with tiki 3 and 4
unfortunately, I'm not as multitasking as I'd like to be. ;-)
xavi: :-)
chibaguywebchat: about the docs, there is so much to do...
xavi: I know :-)
chibaguywebchat: so many new features, and so many things about older features have changed
even module names are different
xavi: btw, which are the tiki4-only themes? mollio only?
chibaguywebchat: ah, yes, and also xtratoveil, that are demoed at themes.tw.o
xavi: documenting: I start from the bigger issues to the smaller....
chibaguywebchat: iirc
xavi: mmm, I can't find xtratoveil here: http://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tikiwiki/users/chibaguy/trunk_themes/themes/
ah, ok, maybe not committed? (work in progress)
chibaguywebchat: right. I'm not sure how that theme should be distributed. I don't think it should be in tiki's repository, since it isn't gpl.
xavi: anyway, can you make a quick&dirty screenshot of those ones in tiki4?
chibaguywebchat: The author gave permission for tiki adaptations, but I think still is the IP owner.
xavi: so that we can find out how to produce a nice carousel-type of demo somewhere and add it to doc.tw.o (through iframe if needed, etc.)
chibaguywebchat: copyright holder
hmm, interesting thought. actually themes.tw.o's homepage is showing the carousel in an iframe.
because if the carousel is actually put on the homepage, there is the problem with javascript not loading initially.
so I imagine doc.tw.o could have a wiki page with iframe and load the themes.tw.o carousel page.
xavi: yes
chibaguywebchat: perfect
xavi: a new page called tiki4 at themes.tw.o? :-)
chibaguywebchat: sorry, what do you mean?
xavi: oh well, not getting the whole homepage of themes.tw.o, but just a page with the carousel with the screenshots of the themes ready for tiki4
***: setog3 has joined #tikiwiki
xavi: and thus, that's why I sugegsted calling this page "tiki4" in themes.tw.o
in a similar way that there are "tiki4" pages in dev.tw.o and doc.tw.o
chibaguywebchat: ah, I see.
xavi: mmmm, btw, isn't this a potential source of server resources consumption by bots attempting to send messages to no email addresses?: http://themes.tikiwiki.org/tiki-send_blog_post.php?postId=56
-: xavi is just thinking in loud
chibaguywebchat: about the themes.tw.o homepage's iframe, the iframe src url is tiki-index_p.php?page=Tiki 3 Themes. So that "_p" causes just the wiki content to load.
xavi: /thinking in loud/thinking aloud (thanks google translate)
chibaguywebchat: I didn't notice that about the send blog post.
xavi: "_p": yes, I know about it. So instead of "Tiki 3 Themes" or "Tiki 4 Themes", just "Tiki4"
chibaguywebchat: ah, ok.
xavi: send blog post: I would expect some anti-bot captcha to avoid that potential issue
I'm too used to hear sys admins complaining about resources consumed by tiki installations....
chibaguywebchat: :-)
I added the iframe/carousel here: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Tiki3#Themes

miki_tnt: and how can upgrade 3.2 to 3.3?

there's a patch.

miki_tnt: fiu, really fast, thank you

miki_tnt: there's no new fixed for calendars issues
chibaguy: well, a lot of fixes have gone into trunk (tiki 4), also.
or instead
I don't know about specific calendar fixes, offhand.
miki_tnt: and when will the release 4.0 ready?
chibaguy: maybe in two weeks or so
miki_tnt: i have just install 3.2 version, could it be recomended to reinstall 4.0 instead?

xavi: chibaguy: yes: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Tiki3#Themes . That's what I meant. :-)
chibaguy: xavi, I figured the tiki 4 versions of themes would be available after tiki 4 is released, since I need to check compatibility and tiki 4 is still in progress. So maybe the themes.tw.o tiki 4 theme page should also wait?
or it could be done, but without download links for now.
xavi: yes, without download links :-)
chibaguy: they are mostly the same as thes for tiki3, of course.
at this point
xavi: so that people know whether their customized theme in tiki3 can be easily upgraded to tiki4, if the same starting theme is available in tiki4
chibaguy: i see
xavi: yes, and that's very good news for most users...
upgrading customized themes from 1.9 to 2.x, or to 2.x to tiki3 was a bit painful for most users...
chibaguy: yes, fortunately, going from 3 to 4 should be pretty painless.
miki_tnt: excuse me, i can not find the instruction to upgrade 3.2 to 3.3 version...
xavi: yes, that's the good news: tiki3 to tiki4 should be painless as far as themes are concerned, at least ;-)
chibaguy: miki_tnt, I suspect there are no instructions.
miki_tnt: jeje, I suspect the same
xavi: miki_tnt: there should be a upgrade 3.x to 3.latest

miki_tnt: yes, there is a package

miki_tnt: but without instructions
only copy?
xavi: miki_tnt: read the documentation pages: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Upgrade
miki_tnt: It seems the new version 3.3 modify the database
chibaguy: I mean, put the new files in the place of the old ones.

chibaguy: ah, ok. then also run tiki-install.php.
miki_tnt: yes, xavi I have alreay checked the url
xavi: miki_tnt: and?

miki_tnt: sure
chibaguy: to update the database (be sure to click "update" (on right side of page) and not "replace", when using tiki-install.php
miki_tnt: the patch has no readme instructions, for upgrade says to check the url http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Upgrade
aham
ok, so, maybe we can add a howto.txt or upgrade.txt explain that?
xavi: miki_tnt: nope. that doc.tw.o/upgrade should be fine.
HOwever, I've just realized that it's not clear for new users....
-: xavi is editting that page right now
chibaguy: I guess none of the Tikiwiki download packages contain upgrade instructions. People are expected to use the web page docs.
miki_tnt: yes, i am a new user and I have found some problems :-s
chibaguy: (though maybe I'm wrong about that.)
miki_tnt: i found only Upgrade 2.x to 3.x example: 2.2 to 3.1.
chibaguy: xavi, are you editing http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Upgrade+3.x+to+3.latest ?

luciash: ricks99: nope
it's semantically different
ricks99: :( how about structures. when "paging" through, if i have identically named tabs, will the same tab be displayed on the pages?
luciash: sylvieg: is true NULL === EMPTY or NULL === 0 ?
ricks99: yes
ricks99: :-)
sylvieg: luciash: http://us3.php.net/manual/en/function.is-null.php see teh comment - it is tricky
luciash: sylvieg: yea :)
ricks99: can u xplain 'how' it differes from VERSIONS/? for end-user?
luciash: and especially in each DB it can be different than in PHP
ricks99: why would/should i use one vs. other?
***: lorinc has joined #tikiwiki
luciash: ricks99: i am not sure how to explain, i haven't looked much into the versions plugin code, but semantically Tabs is just another way of grouping and displaying data on the page while Versions renders only the data it is requested by what version you need
that the display appearance is simmilar to the Tiki tabs is different thing imho
chealer: sylvieg: I don't know what it's used for, but that looks like a boolean, so I imagine it's set to false by default.
ricks99: hm..
sylvieg: tabs / versions - you present in tabs something that can be untab - versions you can not
ricks99: from end-user pov, i dont really see a diffrence. seems (to me, anyway) that TABS is similar to VERSIONS but with a better UI
sylvieg: because in fact or tabs are ... how the other call that ascensor...
ricks99: "untab" = show me all the versions so i can see what change
luciash: ricks99: when you do Ctrl + U can you see the code of different version in the rendered page ?
ricks99: in Versions plugin
ricks99: y, its uses js to display:hide
luciash: ah, then it is simmilar right, i thought versions should render only the version data :((
ricks99: would b nice (as in tabs) for end-user to have the option to see *evertyhing* for examle, on doc.tw.o to see exactly what the differences are between all versions 1.x, 2.x, 3.x etc all at one time
luciash: should be changed to it imho or versions will become obsoleted to tabs in the future
obsoleted by tabs
ricks99: correction-- does *not* show non-selected
sylvieg: .me dreams to change {tabs to accordeon presentation
luciash: i think that was the difference that with versions the all duplicated code just for different version is not downloaded as data
*i thought
ricks99: i understand the differnce better now....
luciash: now i see i was mistaken
sylvieg: we can add that param to the block.tabset.php i guess
ricks99: u are correct. VERSIONS requires an entire page reload -- only that version of data is loaded
luciash: ricks99: aaaah, i win ! i win ! :D
ricks99: tx for clarification
+1 luciash
-: luciash wasn't mistaken !
luciash: :)
ricks99: not the first (nor last) time ive been wrong :)
luciash: don't worry, same here
sylvieg: what is the interest to reload the page ... for print .. and smaller volum
luciash: ricks99: we coukld add a param to versions plugin though to display a button link to "Show All Versions"
*could
and option to hide all the "simmilar to tabs" links and border
ricks99: very nice
-: ricks99 wants to make the VERSIONS plugin work better with structures and printing
luciash: but it needs to be fixed too to keep the version you want as you pointed out with structures
now you can just workaround it with Tabs
sylvieg: yes, for that and for small devices maybe
chealer: does Tiki force the Content-Type sent out as a real HTTP header (not talking about http-equiv)?
it seems it does - but where?
I'm on trunk

luciash: no idea
xavi: sylvieg, I'm testing the plugin calendar aiming to improve its documentation, and I'm afraid that I'm hitting some bugs... I know you were/are an expert of calendars...
sylvieg: calendar or calendar new
xavi: in last TikiFestBarcelona I requested sept_7 to set the PluginCalendar ready (not calendar module, but "plugin")
and he did. It was apparently working by then...
but nowadays, I can get the behavior as expected. See http://doc.tikiwiki.org/PluginCalendar for some details
issues: (1) events are shown twice in the list, (2) viemode Semester does nothing (shows only Month to me), (3) viewlist: I don't get which other values can have this param
s/I can get the behavior / I can NOT get the behavior
jonnyb still around?
jonnyb: hi xavi
sylvieg: my trunk is broken...
xavi: so, shall we try again to reproduce the issue with groupmail?
sylvieg: oups.
-: xavi wouldn't mind sharing my desktop with sylvieg, but he doesn't know why
jonnyb: xavi: ok, how do you want to go about it? i realized it wouldn't help much showing you it working...
xavi: sylvieg: that's my syntax with shows twice the only event in the calendars:
{CALENDAR(calIds="1",viewmode="Quarter",viewlist="table",withviewevents="y")}{CALENDAR}
jonnyb: my problem was that as admin, everything worked fine. As plain user, I couldnt' use the groupmail feature
... webmail_inbox was shown empty for that plain user
jonnyb: was the user in the Help Team group?
xavi: yes, it was
it is, in fact
jonnyb: and had the right perms (you said before...i recall)
xavi: if you how how to share desktop, I can shre my local server with you...
yes
I mean, can you reproduce the basic behavior in your local? If you can, then there must be something else in my local installation
jonnyb: when you say "counldn't use the groupmail feature" do you mean the inbox didn't appear, or what?
luciash: xavi: use RDP ?
xavi: I had several profiles installed, and then, I installed (applied) the groupmail profile
RDP?
-: xavi searching the the gnome menus

or do i miss something on how to remove a added profile?
xavi: mmm, luciash, do you know how do I allow connections from others to my desktop?
vinagre and krdc is for connecting me to others, not the toher way around
Caarrie|away: x11vnc
chealer: xavi: well, they all connect you to others :)

MacLeod: luciash: Added that to my theme, but no change.
***: rodrigo_sampaio has quit IRC ("Leaving.")
luciash: MacLeod: maybe it needs !important to override (no idea what the wysiwyg created table has)
can you inspect what the table attributes are ?
in generated source
MacLeod: checking...
I know that I always set table width to 100%
Cell spacing 0; cell padding 10
Border 0
xavi: bbl
MacLeod: luciash: those are the only parameters specified in the generated source, and i think they'd be the only ones that mattered
set cell padding to 0 = same result
ah, set table width to 500 pixels, and the problem disappears
So what about the table width being set to 100% is overriding the CSS layout parameters?
luciash: MacLeod: yes, 100% width tables cause problems
MacLeod: :(
luciash: try 95%
i think it is because of the padding etc. in the table
or try to wrap the table in a div
MacLeod: Yes, less than 100% works. This feels like a bug, though - 100% should be a valid setting for a table in a page - 100% of the width that it's allowed by the CSS layout parms.
No, removing the padding from the table gives the same problem.
Only changing the table width % fixes it.
luciash: ok, you can also check the other themes what thay have set for .wikitext elements in CSS if it works fine there
MacLeod: Wrap the table in a div? Not a good solution for users who want WYSIWYG without delving into HTML source.
luciash: i think in CSS you can also specify .wikitext {margin: 0; padding: 0} if it has some effect on the 100% tables
MacLeod: tried that, no change
luciash: do the other themes have the sam eproblem ?
MacLeod: good question. checking...

MacLeod: luciash: no, strasa appears fine on a page that has the problem in tikinewt
luciash: must be a bug in tikinewt css then
a "bug" ;)
MacLeod: that's been my assumption thus far :)
but which value(s) to change?
luciash: hard to tell, i guess
MacLeod: querying the CSS values for the table, i don't see anything obviously wrong. width is 100%.
luciash: you need to see in firebug e.g. what parents the table has and compare the css proprties with the ones tikinewt has
MacLeod: Above that, div class wikitext doesn't have an explicit width spec.
Right, I'm using IE developer toolbar.
luciash: in tikinewt it has ?
try to remove it then
MacLeod: no, i'm back looking at tikinewt now
it doesn't have a width value for div class wikitext
searching thru all the "wikitext" entries in strasa.css, i don't see any width specs there, either
luciash: and parents of .wikitext ?
MacLeod: div tiki-center, nope
luciash: (or children if any appear in between the table and .wikitext)
MacLeod: div col1, nope
luciash: col1 is the last resort i think
you don't have to go for other parents
MacLeod: yeah, above that is wrapper, which includes the other columns
luciash: then if it's not width it must be padding there
MacLeod: or margin?
luciash: which is not in strasa
yep
just check it out
MacLeod: *sigh* got some digging to do here...
thanks for the ideas!
luciash: well, if you find out we will definitely commit the fix with your credits ;)
