ibrrorg: wait-timeout and max-allowed_packet are two settings that can only be increased on a VPS/Dedicated server I am afraid. Viewing the MySQL error log is only possible on a VPS/Dedicated server. I do not have doubt with this one - hope I am not the only one
luciash: yeah, actually i think if i can get a WIKIPAGES wikiplugin (simmilar to the ARTICLES one) and change the RSS feed to display some beginnings of the rendered wiki pages, i would prefer to use wiki pages insetad of articles feature

luciash: i like the idea with eye having +/- or green checkbox but it will be hardly recognizable for the group watches anyway
sylvieg: I think i can go with teh camera too that was a good idea - but I prefer the square checkbox instead pf the red/green little icon
group watch is limitted to admin so ...
and I do not think it change status?
we do not need a checkbox on this one
luciash: i was thinking i could try to draw the camera icon without the "weather shield" on top to make it more obvious it is a cam but no idea if it will help a lot

sort of like ldap

BTW: I fixed a small issue with the toc tag

luciash: sylvieg: thanks for cooperation
jacmoe: I am currently running a campaign to get Ogre3D to move to Tiki.
It's a nice change from MediaWiki - very different.
Alright: what's the next step ?
Do I commit the phpbb auth stuff?
luciash: it was the last one :-p
jacmoe: So I just wreak some havoc in trunk?
luciash: sorry, forgot to say and take the hat off ;)
jacmoe: :)
luciash: yup yup
jacmoe: I'd like to hear your opinions on the issue I had with the plugintoc
it does not work with inclusion
luciash: inclusion of what ?
jacmoe: because it uses the current page id
when a toc tag is included from another page
sylvieg: congrats to jacmoe and the ceremony master
jacmoe: sylvieg: Thanks a lot :)
luciash: jacmoe: using the INCLUDE wikiplugin ?
jacmoe: yes.
I fixed it
luciash: ah
sylvieg: cool
luciash: ok, sounds reasonable
jacmoe: by adding an extra parameter: pagename
if that is set, it fetches the id from the pagename from structure lib
and uses that
It means that inclusion and the toc tag can be used even more effectively
(I hope)
sylvieg: but a pagename can belong to 2 structures
jacmoe: Not on my wiki :P
luciash: it could be also incpageid
jacmoe: But, you do have a point
sylvieg: perhaps an additional param like structure...
jacmoe: Would it be okay if I paste 10 lines ?
Or should I use pastebin?
sylvieg: pastebin
jacmoe: http://pastebin.com/m4fbeb388
Only the relevant portion
if you want the whole file, let me know
I can commit the phpbb stuff while we talk
sylvieg: humm .. i will prefer structureName but it is a param...
but the getOne of get_struct_ref_id - I do not like it at all - I know it is not you
CIA-72: tikiwiki: 03jacmoe2 * r23847 10/trunk/ (6 files in 5 dirs): PhpBB authentication method added. Enables users to authenticate against a phpBB database (username/password), much like ldap.
-: jacmoe it works! :)
jacmoe: Well, sylvieg: it was just a very quick hack by a Tiki novice.
sylvieg: but the seniors can help ;-)
jacmoe: It should probably check if there was an ID ..
sylvieg: it is a param so you are free - but in a perfect world
jacmoe: The user is passing a pagename, yes
sylvieg: I got a guy that use the same page in mulitple structures - only one - so far I know
jacmoe: but if the pagename is not in the particular structure
it should just disregard the pagename parameter and go with the default behaviour?
Or would that be hiding errors from the user?
I haven't tested it from a different structure
It works here: http://test.ogitor.org/tiki/Tutorials?bl=y
Intermediate tutorials section
using a fancy toc
btw: the phpbb auth thing does need a little bit of polish, even though it's quite usable already
luciash: jacmoe: btw, if you want to make sure your commits will appear in release changelog.txt, put [NEW] or [MOD] in the beggining of the commit message
or [FIX] etc. )
;)
jacmoe: Alright. Good call.
luciash: see changelog.txt for examples ;)
jacmoe: It might do that when I polish it up a bit more
it's currently hardcoded to use mySQL
luciash: oups, you shouldn't do that... *really* ;)
jacmoe: I wrote a prominent note of that in the preferences page :P
luciash: will cause us a lot of trouble if you leave that code hardcoded
jacmoe: The code itself is not
the function is
We need to know what kind of host it is
luciash: especially when we plan to continue fixes towards pgsql compatibility in trunk
sylvieg: please no ?> at the end of file - zend recommendation
luciash: ok, i haven't reviewed your code yet
-: jacmoe taking notes
jacmoe: I am used to commit C++ code, not PHP :P
It's all in your documents?
I'll read them - promise
sylvieg: heu did you forgot templates/tiki-admin_include_login.tpl?
... and you need to use {preference} now and no need anymore to put the change in tiki-admin_incelude_login - I know it is new
jacmoe: I used that first, because CAS was using it, but reverted to using the other approach
because of undefined variables
sylvieg: it is a work on progress
jacmoe: there's a mix of approaches in that file :)
sylvieg: so you need to add your pref in l;iv/prefs/auth.php
and use {preference in the tpl
and no more need to update the include.php
- work on progress - thanks to pkdille
jacmoe: Does it work on a fresh install only?
Or on a working installation?
I couldn't make it pick the vars, even though they were in prefs.php
sylvieg: it is still working - but it will be nice to follow the ... lesser magic rule - that when you are newlie is perhpas hard to find out
jacmoe: But, I'll take note of that too. :)
sylvieg: but if you buy a beer to pkdille he will do the upgrade
;-)
jacmoe: I might :)
I am happy that I have a chance to see it included in Tiki
so that I don't have to patch it up after each upgrade
sylvieg: why {prefrence is better ? code is simple - adn we can do a search on prefs - a big future improvement
jacmoe: It looks a lot cleaner
definitely
I did that first, but ran into issues
sylvieg: the aim is the search in feature..
jacmoe: the dynamic feature feature is neat, btw
sylvieg: humm which one?
jacmoe: Lots of software has hacking in sql to get new preferences/features
sylvieg: perharps it is a on-progress job... bump can exist
marclaporte: congrats jacmoe!
sylvieg: I was completly against 'magic' dev - but 'lesser magic' is so ggod - I like it
jacmoe: marclaporte: thanks :)
I am currently breaking all the rules :)
sylvieg: so jacmoe has to follow the lesser magic stuff or buy a beer to pkdille
jacmoe: I'll look at how you make connections and call a database
remember: this is an external host
Could probably do what you do in the tiki-install database phase
sylvieg: not sure I get you - 'lesser magic' is a way to implement prefs
jacmoe: Ah, I thought you were referring to the hard-coding of mysql :P
I got it ;)
sylvieg: ah yeh - I do not see taht
ok another one - you need to be adodb or pdo..
sorry..
jacmoe: It's included in every php on earth, so it won't break anything other than the spirit of Tiki :)
sylvieg: if you say in the doc you will update on doc.tw - that this feature is only available with mysql - why not
but it is not 'tiki style'
jacmoe: But, I agree completely
sylvieg: so jacmoe will do some docs on doc.tw
jacmoe: I made up a help link, so I think I need to make the page :)
Or at least the entry
in the list
sylvieg: jacmoe: DOC IS VERY IMPORTANT TOO - TW IS SO HUDGE...
soory for caps
jacmoe: Do I just include tiki-db.php ?
I agree on documentation
sylvieg: I have no idea how you query another db with tw stuff
jacmoe: The server could even be on another machine, so the user has to have some options
sylvieg: so I let you study the stuff and do the best - but as I say if you document ....
jacmoe: it would be kosher :)
I'll remove the ?> tags too
sylvieg: but the {preference.. stuff be ready to buy a beer - this part is in the core - the way you connect with phpbb is yours
jacmoe: but it would be nice to get rid of that mySQL only notice :P
And I'll try again with the cleaner, and much less to write {preference method
-: sylvieg thinks jacmoe is ready to commit a lot more
sylvieg: thx
thx newbie..
jacmoe: Er, what about the toc issue? :)
I know it's not optimal, but it does make it possible to make pages like : http://test.ogitor.org/tiki/Tutorials?bl=y
sylvieg: it is better than now - it could be better.. imho
jacmoe: I'll try with a page not in the structure
sylvieg: so you can commit :-)
jacmoe: it should be able to handle that.
And then I need to update the plugintoc page as well.
Is my login good for that?
How do you handle versions in the docs?
-: sylvieg puts a tw>=4.0
sylvieg: the doc guys clean after you
jacmoe: Ah, very comforting to know. ;)
sylvieg: but if the devs do not document - the doc guys can not always do it - sometimes they are smart
jacmoe: it's an art in itself
-: sylvieg is not a doc person - considering the por english level - but find out that to put some docs - there is always somebody to correct the English - So it is good
jacmoe: Right - it works - now on to make it pretty as well :P
You can cross your fingers, btw.
The Ogre community is currently voting
Over Go Tiki or Stay MediaWiki.
Alright - I have some work to do: I'll clean and polish the phpbb stuff, and test the plugintoc a little bit more
and then add to the documentation
Thanks a lot, guys! :)
