xavi: toctoc...
seems a silent morning/afternoon/evening (whatever)
-: xavi just finished reading the log for yesterday
chibaguy: hi xavi
xavi: hi gary :-)
chibaguy: yeah, kind of quiet.
xavi: :-) yes, it's nice for working :-)
btw, could you make any progress with the header-type of improvement with images?
the client wants to have their site ready for production by the end of this month, aprox.
so far, they are planning to add a static image at the header
and if no better approach, I'l invest some time to try to do that with banners
a set of banners, and call the banner section at the header

chibaguy: xavi, sorry, but I've been having trouble getting additional javascript to work in tiki 4.
xavi: ok
chibaguy: the infinite carousel at themes.tw.o, for example, and also in a new site, a different jquery slideshow. I think maybe jonnyb needs to have a look.
I had an idea about using the random image module somehow.
if there was a gallery of images the right size.
then the trick would be to use z-index layers to put the site title on top of the images.
I want to experiment with that.
xavi: good idea.... :-)
btw, 4.1 is released at sf.net (good job Strasbourg guys...)
but it says (said) 0 downloads... so I guess that nobody tried the packed files...
I'm downloading the tar.gz and 4.0to4.1 package... to give them a try
I guess that when 3 of us have tested them and succeeded with no problems, we can announce the release everywhere... (info.tw.o, tw.o, and tw lists)

xavi: chibaguy, have you ever used css styles over a multitiki installation?
and finding a curious missbehavior... and I wonder whether you might be interested to know...
chibaguy: no, xavi, I don't have any multitiki experience.
xavi: it's not that important, I know how to overrride using normal styles, and not the ones expected in a multitiki environment
chibaguy: what is the problem?
xavi: ok, then I don't bother you with that
chibaguy: sorry, I meant no, i don't have experience, not no, I don't want to know. ;-)
xavi: are you sure you want to know?
ah ok, :-)
well, you can have a look at here: http://gavarrespedia.org
based on andreas08.css
btw, sylvieg, you might want to know about this issue for your multitiki environments (whenever you are up)
so, I just changed a few colors from blues to greens, so far
edited first from the "edit css" feature bundled within tiki
(i was in a place where I didn't have the ftp account details to change basic colors)
so the changes (new css) went magically inside the ./styles/site1.org/site1.css
which is fine
and hey seemed to work
s/hey/they
I made the copy from andreas08.css them style (to avoid confusion) from tiki interface "edit css", as I said
however, afair, there was not automatic copying of the tpl files to the equivalent ./templates/site1.org/ or ./templates/styles/site1/
and andreas08.css uses its own tiki.tpl
ok, can you follow so far, chibaguy?
chibaguy: I didn't think template files were changed or added when using Tiki's edit-css feature.
xavi: it's difficult to explain, maybe (and that part was last week)
yes, neither did I. so expected behavior: tpl's are not copied anywhere, etc.
(even if maybe they could, if the based theme from where you are making the copy, had specific tpl's). But anyway, so far, so god
So I added that tpl manually...
my first guess was that I had to add the tiki.tpl (from ./templates/styles/andreas08/tiki.tpl) to ./templates/site1.org/tiki.tpl
BUT this doesn't seem to fully work well... I don't know why. That how it works now http://gavarrespedia.org
as you can see (I guess), the login fields are on the left hand side of the header, and many images have some border visible
but, if I move everything (custom css and tpl) from the site1.org folder (as of multitiki) to the site1 folder (as of common new style for all tikis at the multitiki installation), the theme styles shows up 100% well, as andreas08.css: login fileds to the right, no border in images, bigblue help icon have some style applied and thus, shown on the right top corner instead of below the central column, etc.
chibaguy: the loginbar position comes from design.css.
(or should)
what version of tiki is the site using?
maybe comes from layout.css in tiki 3.
xavi: so I mean, moving ./styles/site1.org/site1.css (and the images inside the site1 folder) to ./styles/site1.css (and the images inside the site1 folder). Plus templates from ./templates/site1.org/tiki.tpl to ./templates/styles/site1/tiki.tpl
it's using tiki 3.3
***: skbohra_ is now known as skbohra
xavi: but chibaguy, where is design.css called, at tikit.pl?
tiki.tpl, I mean
chibaguy: ah, it's usually imported by andreas08.css.
xavi: yes, and in my site1.css I'm importing andreas08.css
so that, I guess that there is a cascade of importations...
chibaguy: I don't see a sign that layout.css is being imported.
xavi: which works well when all theme styles are at the same level, but it doesn't work well, I guess, when I use my customized css from a site1.org/site1.css (importation of design.css might not work well then)
^chibaguy
***: chealer_ has joined #tikiwiki
xavi: ok, that might be the problem.
chibaguy: maybe so.
xavi: Anyway, too tricky and too specific to rare cases (like mine nodaways) and too easy workaround... so , I guess it's not worth fixing, with so many other (more important) things in everybodies' agenda (including mine).
I'll apply my own workaround: moving the same css and tpl file to the place where they should be if they were normal custom styles
and you'll see that every thing goes back to working as expected
(hold on 1 min)
***: chealer has quit IRC (Read error: 60 (Operation timed out))

xavi: great! chibaguy, thanks! you were right, the problem was at the css level and not at the pl level
chibaguy: ok, easier to fix, I hope.
xavi: by fixing the relative path to the andreas08.css (at the customized site1.css), everything back worked fine
yes, and it's a fix of the user, not from tiki, which is even better :-)
tiki works very well with styles also in multitiki installations
chibaguy: are you happy with the blue backgrounds on the menu hovers?
xavi: once you manually copy the missing tpl to the right place of the templates folder
oh, no, no, there are many more blues that I need to change to greens in my customized theme style, if that is your question
same for calendars, forums, etc
chibaguy: ok :-)
xavi: it's a work in progress
:-)
thanks for feedback :-)

xavi: wtf*, there is something weird with tiki-assignpermission.php in tiki 3.3... in this other site, after we (recently) upgraded from 2.4 to 3.3, we had the Admins group with no perm granted for plugins yet (ok, so far, so good)
but the "Editors" group, have those perms greyed, checked, and uncheckable, with the word "Admin" in a box on the right hand side , and there is no group "Admin" but "Admins"...
oh well... then I try to grant the 3 perms related to plugins to the group "Admins" (they have tiki_p_admin also already), and I get: You don't have permission to access /tiki-assignpermission.php on this server. (with a scary apache white page)
I mean a 403 Forbidden page from apache
to me that there is something wrong in the LTS for assigning permissions...

xavi: aha, after conversation with sys admin in that server, I got the source of the problem, and workaround :-)
tiki-assignpermission.php in tiki 3.x seems to send the whole bunch of permissions for a group in the POST variable to the server, even if you just assign 1 new perm. And the suhosin patch for apache seems to restrict the size of the POST, so that it gets truncated at some point, before reaching the new permission/s to be assigned
Tikiwiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Extra details on user registration - http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=35616
xavi: that was for group "admin", which includes (inherits) many many perms from the lower level groups
ok, workaround: filter first for a section (wiki, in my case), so that the list of perms is reduced to a smaller number. Assign the perms related to plugins, and then it works with no problem
Moreover, there seemed to be a problem with mod security (with the standard rules coming to Debian based servers), which was causing error 403 with that tiki-assignpermission.php .... once the sys admin disabled modsecurity for our site, tiki-assignpermissions.php worked as expected with the workaround described above
marclaporte: will you report the bug to suhosin?
xavi: hi marclaporte, it might very well be not a bug, but a conflict between the size of the post that tiki sends, and the size of the variable allowed by default values by suhosin in apache, which (as far as I've been told) it's customizable....
marclaporte: ok
xavi: so the chances that they will not consider it a bug are high (maybe similar for tiki, which wouldn't be considered a bug, but some "bad luck" of using such a long default list of perms)
marclaporte: so nobody's "fault" but it's doesn't work
xavi: btw, thanks for message introducing to the author of jquery spreadsheet...
"it doesn't work": well, it does, if you filter the long list of perms for a section first
or if you moun your sys admin to find out how to increase that default size in suhosin

-: xavi likes the idea of using what we announce that it's the minimum needed to tw to run

this way, coder would focus more on better ways of designing/improving features...

xavi: huuuge in what?
luciash: huuuuge in number of users and features on

ok, then, user list whould be optimized...
features? consumption in one feature should be fairly independent on others...
luciash: we don't say "Tiki needs a minimum of 32M to run any kind of site"
xavi: and if the problem is using categories, freetags, search and perms, then this problem would be also for not so huge (in users) sites
luciash: number of wiki pages too,yep
well, dogfood is nice but it sucks usability when doing simple tasks like saving wiki page
xavi: to me, the problem is of design, in order to support professional sites (use cases), not just small sites for a bunch of people playing around
yes, luci, but what sucks (imho) is the way tiki over-uses (eats) memmory, not that tw is using 42 Mb of ram per php call
luciash: i wonder what is set up wrong there

chibaguy: does it work to move scripts out of <head> and into <body>?
anyway, putting the carousel script and another into the footer custom code textarea doesn't seem to help.
luciash: good job whoever upgraded http://tikiwiki.tv/ to 4.1 ;)
yep, scripts can be in body, just not the script calls
afaik
chibaguy: ok, well I don't have time right now to do more checking, but appreciate your advice. :-)
luciash: by script call i mean <script type="text/javascript" src="..."></script>
chibaguy: where is the code pasted to try ? ;)
chibaguy: just a minute please
er, kind of hard because you also need a div with the class or id in a wiki page, and same-size images to display.

but i'm still running 3.3
sylvieg: btw jonnyb thanks for fixing this one
jonnyb: ok, ok - i saw that one & fixed it - it's in the tpl (which i'm not using any more) - hold on...
it's in templates/tiki-export_tracker_item.tpl - line 29 (in 3.x) needs not to have a new line after it (so it reads: {/if}{foreach from=$items item=item} all on one line)

Beestje: well, it's not so that I'm unable to import it properly using some mickeysoft app ... it imports fine.
***: SEWilco2 has joined #tikiwiki
Beestje: but i'm from belgium and we use a comma instead of a dot for decimal numbers .... which is pointless if your separator is set to a .... comma
and i've set it up so that some managers can export tracker items so they can make nice 'n shiny reports to impress ... uh ... themselves
and a manager just wants to click on "I NEED IT YESTERDAY" and he will often forget to change the separator from , into ;
so i just would like to know how I can change the default separator on the export tracker items page
The quotes will prevent the improper import of the decimal numbers, but sometimes they import it using an office app and save it again which will sometimes get rid of the quotes... so then disaster strikes and I look stupid because they couldn't import properly...
managers require idiot-proof solutions
:D

marclaporte: AceSMcCloud : I wish there would test for Windows and use them
AceSMcCloud: hmm?
RavenC: 01AceSMcCloud:01 which version of TikiWiki ?
AceSMcCloud: 4.1
***: Caarrie is now known as Caarrie|away
RavenC: I didn't change any file in the TikiWiki directory before running the install and it all worked correctly (tw 4.0)
AceSMcCloud: on iis7 or 6?
RavenC: IIS7
AceSMcCloud: hmm... wonder if iis7 emulates apache more...
RavenC: must be something improved, as I spent about two weeks trying on IIS6 with no success, and finally installed a wamp server. Tried it on 2008/IIS7 later and was amazed that it worked.
AceSMcCloud: wamp ?
luciash: >whatis wamp
Sug4r: Error: No factoid matches that key.
AceSMcCloud: there's something wrong with www.mydomain.co.uk/tiki-login_scr.php
luciash: >learn WAMP as Windows + Apache + MySQL + PHP
Sug4r: OK, here we go!
AceSMcCloud: ah, rather than WIMP :p
RavenC: :)
AceSMcCloud: could it just be incorrect paths?
this / and \ business
RavenC: Time for me to call it a night. There is a drink with my name on it somewhere! Best of luck Ace, and have a nice evening to all
