For some reason, when I select New Article, I get the dreaded Internal Server Error page.
When I check error logs, I see that there is a premature end of script header error in tiki-edit_articles.php

Tikifest discussions should be posted at least a little outside of the conference phone call, I think.
Going from IRC to BBB is ok, but then having to make a phone call for audio seems like a little too much inward spiraling.
Unless a conscious effort is made, ironically there can be _less_ communication globally during a Tikifest instead of more, since participants are busy among themselves but not outwardly in the usual channels (IRC, etc.).
This seems to often be the case.

Another thing: It's disconcerting to see "Enabled  Preference zend mail smtp user set (Preference name: zend_mail_smtp_user) " "Preference zend mail smtp pass set (Preference name: zend_mail_smtp_pass)" after I set _a different_ preference in a new install and didn't touch "prefernce zend main" whatever that is.
I wonder if preferences not set could stay not set or else be set silently.
What is the solution when "Use TikiWiki(sic) feature as homepage" always reverts to wiki, when I keep setting it to blog?

Hm, I wonder what conflicts with or otherwise prevents the home page from being set for something other than the wiki home page, in tiki 5.0.

luckily, there is another function in tiki which does the same without requiring this php5 calendar extension (I wonder why then it was introduced... )

oh well, it doesn't work well :-/. It doesn't show the fatal error any more, and the calendar displays, but the days of week in text don't correspond to days in week in numbers...
I'll have a look if easy to change that to avoid expecting that calendar extension of php5...
that might be "normal" (not sure about my memory)
aha, got it. It was my mistake (only partial hack applied before). It displays properly now, and the minor cost of leap years not taken into account
not so bad, for a 30 min. fix
and in a week or so, at the most, I hope I'll have the php calendar extension  installed

oh well, never mind, images in trackers are not multitiki aware (they are all saved in img/trackers instead in the img/trackers/site1.org , etc. as for images in img/wiki_up/site1.org etc)
I'll add a bug report about it... (it's not important for me, but I thought that it was worth reporting, since I know you use multitiki and trackers with your clients.)

getting funny characters in place of commas and dashes, etc when i upgrade to 5.0
assume this has something to do with the encoding problem, which i don't understand

I found out that it you comment out that line about charset in db/local.php, it works for me
so far, at least
I mean, the upgraded site gets a line about charset saying utf8
and then, all my accents, etc. get wrong chars

if I manually set that line in local.php to say latin1 instead of utf8 it works again
of same behavior if I comment out the line abot charset

so far, inserting tracker items with images (to img/trackers/ ) works for me

I don't know about your issue, but commas and dashes are plain ASCII characters, I wouldn't think the problem would be the recent encoding changes.
i misspoke, it was apostrophes instead of commas
let me see about the dashes...
apostrophes... some apostrophes are surely in ASCII

the computed font-family is 'Trebuchet MS', 'Bitstream Vera Sans', sans-serif
