fabricius: moloq
luciash: fabricius: what do u want to know ?
fabricius: luciash: on what your question is related? did you just wonder that I did not yet ask, as usual? :-D
generally I want to know all about workspaces and espcially about perspectives
luciash: :)
i reacted to your last question
did u read doc ?
fabricius: ah 00:48
luciash: yep
fabricius: yes I do every day
luciash: isn't it good enough ?
http://doc.tiki.org/Workspace
fabricius: it is not - excuse me - basic enough
luciash: i recommend enabling perspectives feature or applying the category jailroot profile and play with it
fabricius: I do not understand at all
luciash: did u apply the jailroot profile already ?
then head your browser to tiki-edit_perspective.php
fabricius: I did enable that and did set up some stuff already, but I also do not know how to apply a certain profile
luciash: and explore
you do not know how to apply certain profile ?
which one ?
fabricius: I am sorry ... up to where I am now all was very easy to learn and such
luciash: you can see how it works when you switch the perspective using the Perspective module then (for example the site title preference will be changed)
fabricius: but all the coding stuff - I actually have an imagination what that stuff might be, but I am like standing in front of a huge massive concete wall with some very small window
luciash: when you switch to perspective A, there will be This is perspective A set up as site_title
when you switch to perspective B, it will be changed to This is perspective B
etc.
fabricius: oops messages cleared
hmmmpf
ok, conceptually I understand that
luciash: and you can configure all that in the tiki-edit_perspective.php page and permissions via categories
fabricius: I can find the perspective and I can get there and name the, but I cannot ride them
via categories?
***: MartinCleaver has joined #tikiwiki
fabricius: hmm
have a look, for that you know, where I am:
http://tiki.org/Torstens+Project+Perspectives
luciash: already seen that
fabricius: ah you looked at it?
nice thought
its the basic I do not understand - to settle the horse and jump onto it, after I now understood how riding works in theory
I do not find where to put my hands and feet
at the workspace doc there I am missing some basic for a noncoder and non tiki markup nower
luciash: so you just put the objects all in the same category, and the perspective will show only what is set for that category
fabricius: and I think it is very important a) to have all them fine coding possibilities (I hopefully learn one day) but b) not to get those prejudices like Typo has
Ok - I assign the module (or the menu aswell?) to the category - fine
luciash: you set the category ID in the perspective edit, that should do the trick
fabricius: ah I just put the ID in it?
luciash: yes
fabricius: like ' 5 ' or ' ID=5 '?
or category Id = 5 ß
?
luciash: in the "Category Jail" input
field
fabricius: hm is that the big one?
luciash: just 5
big one ?
fabricius: just 5 fine - checked ;-)
tiki-edit-preferences
sorry, I really feel like an AMSU right now
luciash: for example on tiki-edit_perspective.php?action=edit&id=3&cookietab=3
you see the Configurations ?
the first input field is Category Jail
fabricius: so I see a big field and in the middle stands 'configurations'
***: jonnyb has quit IRC (Quit: I am going outside... I may be some time...)
fabricius: stands = is written
***: lucks is now known as emoSapiens
fabricius: there the ID of the appropriate category I´d think?
luciash: yes, and under that (if you applied the profile before) you see "Category Jail" and field
fabricius: so a 1 for cat1 in this field of per1 and a 2 for cat2 in per2
ah now we are on a profile ID???
ooops

fabricius: do we work with the profile now, or without? - If with, I need to apply - but I tried yesterday and never got a message if that happened or not
I do not know, where to check, wichprofiles I have applied
luciash: with the profile it is easier as it is already prepared and demonstrated and you can play and learn
fabricius: Ihoped to have time to leave the profiles stuff for later on
luciash: profiles application (installation) is the easiest thing
you don't have to edit the YAML code yet ;)
fabricius: so two choices for me: try to get the profile in or first do the connection between objects perspects and cats
luciash: first, have a testing Tiki 5 installed
fabricius: so admin ->
profiles?
luciash: then, install the profile to it (sorry, apply)
fabricius: he luciash sure I have a Tiki5
luciash: then learn the perspective stuff on it
yes
admin > profiles
search for jailroot
apply
fabricius: cool, I´ll be back in a minute or two
jailroot, ok
mini profiles?
luciash: learning profiles
search just for jail
maybe i messed up the name
fabricius: I found Jailroot_Demonstration profiles.tikiwiki.org alpha, Learning profile (to show off feature), 4.x, 5.x
luciash: yes, that's it
apply that please
fabricius: did click on Jailroot_Demonstration
luciash: yep, click on it and then apply button appears, sorry
fabricius: nope no button - loading ... waiting ... ... ... .. . . . .
luciash: it should appear shortly
after it loads
fabricius: ahh Step 2: Click on a Profile to review and see description
loading ... waiting ... ... ... .. . . . . nothing more
might have a look yourself in tiki/live conference room?
luciash: it should load, otherwise you have a problem
maybe something blocks it, firewall ?
can you try on different server ?
fabricius: no firewall
different server not tonight - havent prepared a quick Tiki5 install yet there
what is, if it maybe is already loaded?
yesterday evening
luciash: ah, hm, then it will not be easy for you to play with it
fabricius: normally that server must be alright
luciash: if already loaded, it would say "Applied" under the profile name
and the label on the button would be "Re-apply ..."
fabricius: it´s just that we head off to another city at 6 (in 3 hrs)
ah thx
yetserday I have seen some apply buttons
yesterday
luciash: ah, ok, then i will not bother you, have some rest, and drive safely
i can make a screencast about it probably
fabricius: hmm thx
I guess I will sleep in the car
and luciash you r not bothering me ;-)
anyway, I cannot apply for profiles tonight anymore
could we go back to the pers for a moment - it seemed to be near a workthrough, to have one per set up
and the other 6 then I could do by myself
profiles i look onto, then when I came back and slept ... sunday evening :-D
luciash: ok, so you have perspectives on already, right ?
fabricius: jupi, I am on "tiki-edit_perspective.php?action=edit&id=3&cookietab=3"
luciash: ok
so for this perspective, lets say, you want different theme option
fabricius: should i quickly check my IDs?
luciash: are you in Firefox ?
fabricius: ah ok ... sorry, I listen
yes
ff
luciash: fine (because it doesn't work in Chrome)
fabricius: kk
the perspective at all?
or to make the setup?
luciash: to search there where you are now
fabricius: ah np
luciash: you see the search input field ?
fabricius: jupi
what to put in there?
jupi=yes
sorry
luciash: write theme there and search
theme
just that
there will appear the theme option dropdown
you just drag and drop that on the Configurations area above
then select orange.css from the dropdown and hit the save button
now you have configured perspective ID 3 to display the orange theme option (if you use fivealive theme)
fabricius: I use tikinewt
its the base of our corporate theme in three and will also in tiki5
so to repeat:
you say: we are for ex. in perspective ID 3
luciash: ok, this is just for test... to test the perspective now, go to first tab and click the green arrow next to your perspective to switch the perspective
fabricius: ah stop
there, where you did guide me to
luciash: or go to tiki-switch_perspective.php?perspective=3
fabricius: with this drop downs
luciash: and you will be in perspective 3 now and see the theme changed
fabricius: thats a white page with some drop downs on the upper left corner - is that right?
luciash: or whatever else you configure there from the drag and drop
fabricius: I have no drag and drop there
gimme a sec
luciash: ok, try something else then
you can search for any Tiki preference there
fabricius: http://vafk.de/_torsten/tiki-perspectives-001.jpg

it shouldn't look like that
fabricius: I did open the popups - there has been tiknewt at the first place
luciash: can you go to Admin > General and enable PHP error reporting please ?

what kind of menu do you mean?

look to the rights related to myTiki

a button on top somewhere and the keys besides the groups ;-)

-: xavi has just tried a the new article clipping & newsletter sending in tiki6
xavi didn't get the article clipping to work (article shown in the newsletter interface, not received in the newsletter :-/ )
chibaguy: hi xavi. what is the clipping feature, exactly?
-: chibaguy not paying attention.
xavi: hi chibaguy.
:-)
let me search for some documentation (nkoth wrote something somewhere)
chibaguy: ok, thanks.
xavi: And I copied that info here: http://doc.tiki.org/Tiki6#Clipping_of_Article_titles_or_headings_to_a_newsletter
btw, it seems that a few jquery plugins (at least) are not working in doc.t.o (as anons, at least, and using chromium)
neither reflect nor spreadsheet interface for sheet plugin: http://doc.tiki.org/Spreadsheet+jq
dogfooding issues, I guess
even if they look weird, becuase that's working in other sites running trunk
who knows...
chibaguy: I sort of get the idea about clipping, but does it mean that part of an article will be pasted into a newsletter?
xavi: yes
as html
chibaguy: how do you specify what to clip? Is it like a wiki plugin with parameters?
xavi: howevr, I don't get (yet) why that feature exists as such, since it can be reproduced similarly (afaik) with module last articles, with a number of articles or a time frame
what to clip:I think that you can see how long you want the time period for the articles to be clipped
e.g.: articles in the last 120 days
or adding some syntax somewhere, somehow, which I haven't tried yet
chibaguy: I see.
xavi: but I didn't get the information about the article that was shown in the newsleter interface, when I clicked in "clip now"
chibaguy: somebody was asking in the forum about being able to paste a forum post text into a wiki page, which sounds like similar functionality.
xavi: anyway, it has the nice feature to be able to edit by hand in the newsletter interface the contents that you get from other tiki features (articles, so far), which is something missing when you add content using wiki plugins...
"past a forum post in a wiki page": well, we need some module or plugin to do that, I guess
but I don't understand why that is needed
s/past/paste
chibaguy: ah, somebody said they had a site (not tiki) where people wanted to be able to easily reference a forum post, in a wiki page, to save the "jewels" of forum discussions, show a "clipping" and a link to the forum.
could be done with a wikiplugin for sure, but would have to be coded, was my reply.
xavi: well, for the time being, "copy & paste" inside the qupte plugin in that wiki page, with the addition to the url of that forum post....
that would do also
already
I would go for the "copy & paste" feature added to tiki, instead
much more versatile
click on "copy" somewhere
that text is copied to some "Tiki clipboard"
go somewhere else in Tiki, and click on "paste"
That type of feature was added to Tiki workspaces many years ago (inside AulaWiki mod), but that feature was lost, as we kind-of-lost that mod...
copy-paste was working for tiki resources (a full forum, and full blog, a full survey, tiki structure,e tc.), that could be copied to somewhere else (Another workspace)
anyway...
chibaguy: interesting
xavi: that is just to say that a generic "copy & paste" feature for text, would be more versatile, I think
"interesting": I know. A pity we couldn't keep that coder of aulawiki workspcaes and tikidav in the Tiki community for longer
chibaguy: yeah, what if there was module (or some other mechanism) and when you click it, it pastes a wikiplugin syntax that has the highlighted text as data and the url as a parameter? would be very cool.
xavi: cool: yes, for sure. +1
well, back to testing newsletter and automatic sending of newsletters...
chibaguy: ok :-)
well, I submitted a feature request "Global site reference tool" (http://dev.tiki.org/tiki-view_tracker_item.php?itemId=3560) if anyone has some ideas.
-: chibaguy wishes for more hours in the day, more skills, faster-working brain, etc.
Tikiwiki|bot: Recent Bug: Tracker item: #3560 - - Global site reference tool - http://dev.tiki.org/tiki-view_tracker_item.php?trackerId=5&itemId=3560
-: xavi joins chibaguy's wish :-)
chibaguy: unfortunately, no tracker to submit that wish (except prayers, I guess ;- ) ).
xavi: argh, there is something wrong in doc.t.o... preview button at the bottom of thepage shows error page: "You must specify a page name, it will be created if it doesn't exist."
tracker to submit those wishes: yes, prayer-tracker :-)
mmm, anyone here which has ever used the "Tiki User Credits" feature?
http://doc.tiki.org/Tiki+User+Credits
-: xavi wonders how to grant credits to someone
chibaguy thinks Tiki functionality would grow by about 200% without any extra coding if every feature was fully documented and possible to be used.
chibaguy thinks the Tiki coding pioneers are way out in front of the Tiki settlers, farmers, etc.

but simple perspective, like having your own logo and theme per user already is possible with the perspectives edit in few clicks
(and drag and drops)
;)

xavi: no idea, luci, too much giberish to me. I'll understand when I see working examples documetned, and not theories
-: xavi is starting to get bored of hearing about datachannels, but very little documentation about working examples and proven use cases (and profiles to use them).
xavi: bbl (luch time + walk the dog)
btw, just finished adding some more documentation of what I understood of: http://doc.tiki.org/Tiki+User+Credits

Wizek_: how do I create a Theme for Tiki? I'd like to include my cusom CSS file
*custom
luciash: Wizek_: start with empty.css
***: mlaporte has joined #tikiwiki
luciash: Wizek_: copy it and rename to yourthemename.css and paste your css at the end of the file
Wizek_: luciash: ty
luciash: Wizek_: if you have some images or other files related to the theme, put them in styles/yourthemename/ subdirectory
xavi: sorry, i will try to create profile for it maybe
xavi: "Workspace Wizard" or something like that
Wizek_: luciash: Hah! I've found an error in the default Empty.css :D
Is it good if I say it here? Is anyone interested? :)
luciash: why is that error so funny ?
good to say here
chibaguy: I've never looked at empty.css since it was made, I think. (didn't really think it was very helpful)
I usually start a theme by copying an existing theme like jqui.css, which is pretty basic already.
..but has things styled that are usually good to style.
Wizek_: @import url("layout/design.css)"; this way design.css wasn't imported
luciash: Wizek_: it is no error
it is correct CSS
Wizek_: )" has to be swapped to ")
luciash: ah, right, sorry, overlooked
the quote is misplaced
thank you
Wizek_: yep, yw :)
I never thought I'd contribute to tiki development this quickly :D
luciash: hehe
Wizek_: Is there a way I can clean up this (http://prntscr.com/z2hi) mess tiki creates for page structure? I do not need that many divs there...
CIA-69: tikiwiki: 03luciash * r29610 10/branches/6.x/styles/empty.css: [FIX] empty theme: misplaced quote, thanks to Wizek on IRC
luciash: yes
Wizek_: luciash: how? I'm listening. I only need an article section, where content goes, and a top menu section, which I hope tici will be able to generate me as I need it.
luciash: Wizek_: you can start using skeleton theme instead which has also custom template file in templates/styles/skeleton/tiki.tpl (which is slightly reduced, but some divs are still mandatory, if you need column layout... if you don't, you can remove lot except #tiki-center)
the default tiki.tpl is in templates/ root
Wizek_: taking a look
luciash: every theme can have its own tpl file overriding the default ones btw
but it is not recomended for column designs because of upgrades will be painful to check what changed in the original templates
Wizek_: what do you refer to with column designs?
luciash: oh, yes, for top you need #header
and for footer, #footer divs of course, to keep too
left and right columns
Wizek_: I won't have those.
luciash: if you plan only header and main content, then you don't need such complex layout in templates
Wizek_: exactly :)
luciash: if you want fixed width centered design, you need to keep the #fixedwidth div
that should do it
happy styling
Wizek_: luciash: so should I overwrite the tiki.tpl or I copy somewhere and rename it?
luciash: better is copy to templates/styles/yourthemename/tiki.tpl
Wizek_: alright
chibaguy: Wizek_: http://themes.tiki.org/Tiki+Transforming (and links from that page) outline the process to make a new theme.
page is a little old but still has the basics.

olinuxx: mmh luciash, I've watch on the module's side that you pointed me last night, but I don't find that I'm search, can you look it 2 mins please ? (or no ?)
Wizek_: luciash: I've copied and edited tiki.tpl but it doesn't seem to have any effect
luciash: Wizek_: no way, it must work
try go to tiki-admin_system.php?do=all to clear your Tiki cache
Wizek_: done, no change.
I placed it in styles/MyStyle dir with the name tiki.tpl
luciash: wrong place
told u where to copy few lines above
Wizek_: yea, missed templates folder
luciash: ok
olinuxx: sorry ?
olinuxx: i don't remember xactly
olinuxx: luciash, for have bookmark for users
I watch it, all is actived, but if you look on linuxmao.org,
you have a "test olinuxx" on upper menu, section "Mon linuxMAO" who links to bookmark
I try to have bookmarks on this menu, directly, without pass by tiki_user_bookmark
luciash, is it possible ?
luciash: nope
you can have the bookmarks module as menu on left, but not included in regular menu per user afaik
olinuxx: mm interesting ... :)
I go to look on it, thanks ;)
luciash: look for the module
olinuxx: I'm on it ;)

luciash: hi
where are browser titles set for Tiki ?
some are missing and i would like to add them but cannot find where
for example tiki-edit_perspective.php has no browser title
ah, found it
$smarty->assign('headtitle', tra('Perspectives'));
***: mike_hurley_1 has joined #tikiwiki
mike_hurley_1: hopefully this is an obvious question as the tikiwiki documentation wasn't too clear...can tikiwiki do inline categories like media wiki?
ricks99: Tiki has extensive category support. What is an "inline" category?
I am not overly familiar with mediawiki
***: Caarrie|away is now known as Caarrie
mike_hurley_1: in media wiki you can put in the page body '[[Category:bla]]' and category bla is created and the page is put in that category without having to admin the categories separately
