luci|abroadhi jonnyb :) [18:58]
jonnybi've been searching for a good xhtml validator that will work on localhost - know any? [18:58]
luci|abroadlocalhost without connection to internet ?
jonnyb: ^
[19:06]
jonnybwell, localhost not accessible from the internet - like on my laptop (where i can edit the files)
this one looks ok http://www.totalvalidator.com/ (free and pro version - free one looks usable)
and there's a Fx add-on
there are a couple of big things to fix for xhtml (i.e. in lots of files)
forms cannot have names anymore, and inputs cannot be on the root of a form - we have lots of them
[19:08]
luci|abroadyep, i use Web Developer add-on for FF or built-in Opera validate local [19:12]
jonnybwe should discuss what to do - shame we're not in the same place anymore ;) [19:14]
luci|abroadwhat to do / imho fix what u can if you feel for it or leave as it is and fix later during the 6.x lifetime [19:15]
jonnyblooks like about 50 forms with names
might break JS so would need checking one by one
say 15 minutes per form? about 12 hours work...
i presume we could rollback the doctype later (just before release) and all would be well again? including all the strict fixes we've done already?
[19:16]
luci|abroadpersonally i do not care about the fact we are not 100 percent xhtml strict valid unless it breaks stuff / tiki wasn`t valid before with transitional anyway so i think it will be just one step back if we rollback the doctype [19:23]
jonnybbut this can actually break stuff - the confirm.tpl form wasn't happy, and was fine in transitional, even if not 100% valid
the inputs inside it got all tangled up in the form's attributes - nasty
[19:25]
luci|abroadtangled up, ah, hmm, nasty, well, bad code, it should always work with id, not name, but sure, this is bad side-effect if doctype breaks it, rollback then if it is too much work to change... a pity [19:31]
lindon_what does it mean for an input to be in the root of the form? [19:32]
luci|abroadlindon_: xhtml strict says it should be more semantic and put input tag not in form directly but wrap them in one of the fieldset, div, p, or other block type tag
don`t know why but it is fact
[19:34]
lindon_so <form></form><p><input></input></p>? [19:36]
luci|abroadlindon_: </form> at the end of course [19:37]
lindon_ok, so: <form><p><input></input></p></form> [19:38]
jonnybthe confirm thing was not because of the name/id thing i think - it was because the inputs we on the form "root", and one of them was called name="submit" - the form thought that was it's submit function!
also there was one called name="name" (nice), so the JS couldn't even find the $(form[name=confirm])
[19:39]
luci|abroadomg [19:40]
jonnybi fear some of the other 50 or so forms we have will have the same problem
indeed
naughty javascript!
[19:40]
luci|abroadluci|abroad nods [19:40]
jonnybi presume it'll only break when there are bad names (like name and submit) and when the form is accessed by JS
i seem to remember there were a worrying number of name="name" inputs in tiki
[19:41]
luci|abroadso in transitional it worked ? [19:42]
jonnybmust have [19:42]
luci|abroadweird [19:42]
jonnybyes, (hooray for aptana's search history) - about 150 occurrences of $_(:?REQUEST|POST)[['"]name['"]] [19:43]
luci|abroadthats pretty whole lotta [19:44]
lindon_now 36 hours [19:45]
jonnyb55 occurrences of names*=s*['"]name['"] (probably the same 50 forms with name instead of id ;) )
i think wrapping them in a div fixes it
i might rollback my change of name to login on adminusers and see if the div wrapping fixes it really (as it's completely broken without it)
[19:45]
luci|abroadok [19:52]

[19:52]
.... (idle for 15mn)
jonnybmost weird - i rolled back r29918 locally and it still seems that an input name=name in a form becomes the form's "name" attribute (instead of a string)
can this be really happening??

robertpI wish I had been there, I've set it up in windows before and it only took just a few minutes.
I used xampp though, which can make things a bit easier.
[20:51]
lindon_i've also been able to easily with windows and xampp
with marc, we were getting weird error messages that the 10000 port was in use, which is what zend was using, even though we were using xdebug
deleted zend debugger plugin from aptana and it solved that
marc also couldn't log into phpmyadmin
reinstalling xampp solved that
was also originally pointing to wrong php executable
and we used another version of xdebug rather than the one that came with xampp
and that's all there was to it!
[20:52]
jonnybit was mainly that he had installed the IIS stuff when testing the windows installer thing so had 2 phps and mysqls (as you just said lindon_ ;) ) [20:57]

robertpjonnyb, lindon_, I'm going to update the xdebug for ubuntu on the installing aptana page... At least for ubuntu 10.04. Is that ok? [21:01]
lindon_yes, please!
i only had a linux machine briefly, so I'm sure it needs improving
[21:01]
robertplindon_: It looks like some of the structure of the page might have to change to incorporate this. But it is just a few lines long to get it working with ubuntu with it's own version of xdebug. Take a look: http://scottfaisal.com/installing-xdebug-on-ubuntu-10-04/
I looked at a few other tutorials, none of them even got it working, this one, 3 seconds and it was working great!

chealerhrsms: is SEFURL enabled? [21:08]
lindon_robertp: is this meant for use with xampp or without? [21:09]
hrsmsSorry. I'm new at this. Would you mind explaining SEFURL? I changed _htacess to .htacces, if that's what you mean [21:09]
robertplindon_: without. w/ ubuntu you can have it running in nearly 1 line from the terminal. [21:09]
hrsmsBTW chealer, I did search and find some discussion between you and chibaguy on this topic, but if there was a resolution, I didn't see or understand it [21:10]
chealercan somebody confirm that, if you try validating the CSRF confirm page (say from admin users user edit) using Firefox's Web Developer "Validate local HTML" tool, the page sent for validation is the previous one (the one with user fields)? it should be easy to tell from the code snippets in errors if you're in HTML Strict. [21:10]
lindon_robertp: sounds good. just thinking about the page. it was originally meant to describe how to set up an ide with aptana/xampp/xdebug [21:11]
robertpok [21:11]
hrsmsI also found some discussion about safe mode, but it seemed to be for much older versions [21:11]
chealerhrsms: SEFURL means Search Engine-Friendly URLs. it allows to use shorter URL-s, say http://localhost/Foo instead of http://localhost/tiki-index.php?page=Foo
hrsms: there is an option in Tiki to make it use SEFURLs or not
if you enable it, you need to rename _htaccess to .htaccess
[21:12]
hrsmsI'm sure I set this in the past, but I'll go check the current setting [21:13]
lindon_robertp: maybe this should be just one of the ide pages and there should be a separate one for other configurations [21:14]

chealerhrsms: which version do you use and on which version did you move _htaccess to .htaccess? [22:13]
hrsmsI started with 4.x (I think). Two or three months ago (?) I moved to 5.0. Can't say that I ever tried to edit a tracker after that move until yesterday, when I discovered this problem. I upgraded to 5.3 today to try and get around this problem, but it didn't help. [22:15]
chealerhrsms: did you customize .htaccess? [22:16]
hrsmsI deleted all the old files to install 5.3 completely. Made a backup of the theme files I'd edited, and the DB. When I installed 5.3 I manually added db/local.php to point to my old DB. I think when I moved to 5.0 I just installed over top of the 4.x. Can't remember for certain. Don'r recall having to add db/local.php when I moved to 5.0, which would seem to indicate I did just overwrite the files
No, I did not customize .htaccess
just styles
[22:18]
chealerhrsms: so what did you do with htaccess when you upgrade to 5.3? [22:19]

It's the file that came with 5.3 download. I had removed all the old files first
[22:19]
