well, localhost not accessible from the internet - like on my laptop (where i can edit the files)

and there's a Fx add-on
there are a couple of big things to fix for xhtml (i.e. in lots of files)
forms cannot have names anymore, and inputs cannot be on the root of a form - we have lots of them
yep, i use Web Developer add-on for FF or built-in Opera validate local
we should discuss what to do - shame we're not in the same place anymore ;)
what to do / imho fix what u can if you feel for it or leave as it is and fix later during the 6.x lifetime

personally i do not care about the fact we are not 100 percent xhtml strict valid unless it breaks stuff / tiki wasn`t valid before with transitional anyway so i think it will be just one step back if we rollback the doctype
but this can actually break stuff - the confirm.tpl form wasn't happy, and was fine in transitional, even if not 100% valid
the inputs inside it got all tangled up in the form's attributes - nasty
tangled up, ah, hmm, nasty, well, bad code, it should always work with id, not name, but sure, this is bad side-effect if doctype breaks it, rollback then if it is too much work to change... a pity
what does it mean for an input to be in the root of the form?
lindon_: xhtml strict says it should be more semantic and put input tag not in form directly but wrap them in one of the fieldset, div, p, or other block type tag

the confirm thing was not because of the name/id thing i think - it was because the inputs we on the form "root", and one of them was called name="submit" - the form thought that was it's submit function!
also there was one called name="name" (nice), so the JS couldn't even find the $(form[name=confirm])

i'd say when we're working on them anyway, anytime you see a form name=something change it to an id (or remove if unused)

jonnyb: I'm still unsure if Strict was the cause of the confirm problem. it's part of the puzzle, but I'm still getting tons of errors depending on how I validate. but I found one way to validate with no errors in Transitional. if I save on my local disk and use validate.
I'm pretty sure there's at least a Web Developer/Firefox bug

I wish I had been there, I've set it up in windows before and it only took just a few minutes.
I used xampp though, which can make things a bit easier.
i've also been able to easily with windows and xampp
with marc, we were getting weird error messages that the 10000 port was in use, which is what zend was using, even though we were using xdebug
deleted zend debugger plugin from aptana and it solved that
marc also couldn't log into phpmyadmin
reinstalling xampp solved that
was also originally pointing to wrong php executable
and we used another version of xdebug rather than the one that came with xampp
and that's all there was to it!
it was mainly that he had installed the IIS stuff when testing the windows installer thing so had 2 phps and mysqls (as you just said lindon_ ;) )
I'm using a tracker for registered users.  It used to be that I could click on an entry and go to an edit page.  Now I get a "page not found" error.  The page title is "item" ---> [tiki install dir]/item&trackerId=1&show=view.  Can anyone help?

I looked at a few other tutorials, none of them even got it working, this one, 3 seconds and it was working great!

can somebody confirm that, if you try validating the CSRF confirm page (say from admin users user edit) using Firefox's Web Developer "Validate local HTML" tool, the page sent for validation is the previous one (the one with user fields)? it should be easy to tell from the code snippets in errors if you're in HTML Strict.

I started with 4.x (I think).  Two or three months ago (?) I moved to 5.0.  Can't say that I ever tried to edit a tracker after that move until yesterday, when I discovered this problem.  I upgraded to 5.3 today to try and get around this problem, but it didn't help.

I deleted all the old files to install 5.3 completely.  Made a backup of the theme files I'd edited, and the DB.  When I installed 5.3 I manually added db/local.php to point to my old DB.  I think when I moved to 5.0 I just installed over top of the 4.x. Can't remember for certain.  Don'r recall having to add db/local.php when I moved to 5.0, which would seem to indicate I did just overwrite the files

I'm testing something now.  Both sefurl and post filter were checked.  I unchecked both and it worked.  I re-checked only sefurl and it still works.  I'll try only post and then both again.  The documentation says they should be OK alone or together.  I'll come back.
