Trebly: <sylvieg>Hello, I am stil in the charset problem in OVH shared serveur. I developped a toul which displays the mysql vars, make the test of differencies from a typical whished congiguration and dsiplays (particularly %char% and %collation%, It display warning messages of mis-congiguration and a full list into the main page.
Too this module changes the values by SET CHARACTER SET and parameters for Collation. Nevertheless when any change of show page occurs (by menu) the current parameter are lost and retrun to default (can't be changed).
I think that the automatic SET should be send at each "session" (normally the changes are permanent for a session), I have tried but till know I not succeed. Created object mysql-infos, run SET CHARSET SET utf8 at strating sesion... fails
As I am not suffciently aware of the product conception I don't find, not able to, how to make all useful resets when mysql returns to default parameters.

dkoes856: Hey everyone.
I'm running into something strange with tikiwiki, was hoping someone here would have any idea what culd cause it.
+o
I have a wiki running with several groups (A-F) to identify people, en several other groups to grant permissions (edit, view, comment). The A-F groups inherit permissions from the edit, view, comment groups.
Yesterday one of the groups suddenly lost their edit menu on the left, while other groups that inherit from the permission group did not.
I'm currently running Tikiwiki 5.1.

dkoes856: coaboa: I'll try to see if our tech guys can upgrade. Does this upgrade fix any known issues with permissions and rights? (I couldn't find specifics about the upgrade)

what's the best way to migrate an "old" 3.4 system to a new 5.3 stable, with a clean 5.3 system....so how to migrate the database?
luciash: polom
hi trip_, just get your sql backup and import it in your 5.3 db
***: redflo has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
luciash: then re-run the Tiki installer and upgrade it
changi: hi all,
trip_: that easy? alright, thank you :)
luciash: trip_: should be no problem, except if u have latin1 db you will have to convert it using the installer to utf-8 i think, but all should be easy to understand in the installer
you can convert it to utf-8 via the installer i mean
hey changi
trip_: no its already utf8 of course :)
***: redflo has joined #tikiwiki
luciash: trip_: after u're done with the db upgrade you'll maybe need to copy any files u had stored in the filesystem on the old system (like pictures in img/wiki_up/ and files in files/ if any)
trip_: ok :)
jeah need to reinstall the whole xampp thingy anyways, so I'll stay idle, if any problem occurs

jonnyb: there are two different sections with tabs already: http://test.intercanvis.net/Books

that's why I'm using PluginFade, since it allowed showing and hiding sections, and I couldn't do with "nested-tabs"
jonnyb: the basic idea is that js can get to the query part of the url quite easily (location.search)

changi: ricks99: +10
jonnyb: a simple text file is more reliable i think
changi: or a wiki page export ?
jonnyb: we do fairly often seem to loose either database or logins on most of our sites
ricks99: can't we store plain text files in the file gallery?
jonnyb: also this would put (significant) extra load on the sever if it's in the filegals
luciash: couldn't it be txt file on some stable server ? like sf.net ?
changi: jonnyb: you're right, so maybe dev is the solution
jonnyb: dev or sf - doesn't matter where really
sf.net sounds good as admins already have access there

jonnyb: no, not inside the code
messy
so.... should we do this for 6? (beta 2? too late?)
luciash: either that or got someone wake up and update the current file... and do it after then... but if we don't do that, it will get forgotten... until next release will be already in owen again

MacLeod: Horrible limitation of webdav... that features satisfies a huge need for ppl who want to use the wiki to run projects here.
lphuberdeau: actually, I have two issues - first one is that it does not work over https, second is that it does not always report the mime type correctly and files only work when you first download them
ricks99: will that be a known limitation for 6? no https? or r u planning to fix for 6.0?

chealer: hi jonnyb. so does that mean there was non-functional stuff there, incompatible with 1.8?
what kind of updates are we talking about?
jonnyb: yes, unfortunately
jquery-ui from 1.8 to 1.8.5
chealer: I have no problem with any minor updates at this point
jonnyb: i already did jquery.js from 1.4.2 to 1.4.3 and i think i might have to roll that back for 6.x
needs testing though
i have to commit this jq-ui update now but we may well have to fix the external revision for 6.0 to the previous version if it's too wobbly

I have analyzed, I wrote a new admin function which test the mysql config, display the current parameter and for test make a SET CHARACTER SET and @@collation... I do think that there is a real problem if several mysql characset_ are not set to utf8. The problem related succeed in OVH shared Server which are set by...
...default to latin1.
The SET CHARACTER SET utf8 is just useful for the current page (reset to default for any new page). Who is aware to this problem ?
I checked ZEND and all setup and session and found that nothing seems done to set the valid CHARACTER SET for the session.

Trebly: <sylvieg> OK seen and checked, My tiki-db-pdo.php is conform to. I had seen too the problem of character_set_connection. But the problem I found is that in some conditions the mysql variables which have been set right by tiki-db-pdo.php are reset to default on the server concerned each time a new page is displayed.
My function added to the menu "admistrator" detects the current value and makes the comparison of any parameters with a reference and generated a warning message with details. This routine makes a set as in tiki-db-pdo (written into a complementary class 'mysql_infos' (mysql-infos-management). Then the right value are displayed at this time, if you show any page and call again this menu-option you
get the same as first time (latin1)...
mlpvolt: howdy
