dcedilotte | I have a client using Tiki 3.8. They assign usernames to their customers that start with a capital letter (for ex: Daniel). If a user clicks on "I forgot my password", and they enter their username in small caps (ie: daniel), they receive the reset message correctly but their username is not in the email. If the user puts the username with the capital letter, everything is fine. Just wondering if it's a known issue or not. | [01:45] |

I got it, but can someone please tell me what the default value is for the data in a user module? Is it NULL or an empty string? I can't find out through testing because the user module page is hung up. It's a bug apparantly. If you follow the documentation to create a user module for a random poll, the page will be blank evertime you go back to admin modules. The documentation says to put {poll} in there for a random poll, which apparantly hangs it. | [03:29] |

reason: switching back and forth between the editors removes spaces, formatting etc. | [11:34] |

jonnyb_ | yes, sounds like a good idea - with html the convertion is always slightly descrictive (still)
destructive | [11:37] |
coaboa | in this way wysiwig could be standard editor for eg registered and editors could have the permission to do "advanced stuff" without the need to implement everything possible into the wysiwig editor. backdraw would be once edite with non-wysiwig a page couldn't edited with the wysiwyg unless inventing a {wysiwig}{/wysiwig} tag or something like that
*once edited | [11:38] |

jonnyb_: do you still have my request about http://ido.ath.cx:8080/tiki/trunk/tiki-editpage.php?page=Dynamic+tracker+example+template in mind? | [17:37] |
jonnyb_ | not quite - i didn't really work out what the question was, sorry | [17:39] |
chealer | jonnyb_: so I want (via Marc and Xavi :-) ) to document an example of dynamic trackers. I put one on http://ido.ath.cx:8080/tiki/trunk/tiki-index.php?page=Dynamic+tracker+example which works well | [17:40] |

jonnyb_ | can't remember sylvieg - check trackers, they use it (somehow)

chealer | jonnyb_: hum, indeed, I wonder why

*** | kiilo has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds) | [17:47] |
chealer | sylvieg: so invalider - http://www.wordreference.com/fren/invalider says "invalidate", "void" and "disable". I think "invalidate" is the one | [17:48] |
sylvieg | disable is moer common.. | [17:48] |
ricks99 | maybe help from a native english speaker? | [17:49] |
sylvieg | :-) | [17:49] |
chealer | sylvieg: OK, but that's not very consistent with the "Validate account" terminology | [17:49] |
sylvieg | the setting is that the account must be validated by ana admin after n unsuccessful attempts - no email send .... | [17:50] |
chealer | hi ricks99. I'm looking at a string introduced in r30714. | [17:50] |
sylvieg | it is for high secure sites | [17:50] |
ricks99 | so it requires admin to revalidate? | [17:51] |
chealer | ricks99: http://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tikiwiki/trunk/lib/prefs/unsuccessful.php?r1=30714&r2=30713&pathrev=30714
'Invalid account after unsuccessful login attempts' | [17:51] |
sylvieg | ricks99: yes | [17:51] |
nkoth | jonnyb_: can you quickly explain to me why wiki_paragraph_formatting is recommended for wysiwyg? I am having a problem with shift-enters starting paragraphs.... | [17:52] |
sylvieg | and after the admin decides to speak or to send an email or .. to the user | [17:52] |
jonnyb_ | hi nkoth - because that's the closest to what ckeditor creates (and how proper html should be generated, imho) | [17:53] |
ricks99 | i like "suspend account after... | [17:53] |
chealer | ricks99: I was saying "Invalid" is not a verb/conjugation | [17:53] |
nkoth | jonnyb: oh I see , for people switching editors | [17:53] |
ricks99 | if u want to use invalid, it should be "invalidate"
but really, the account isn't "invalid", it has just been temporarily suspended | [17:53] |
jonnyb_ | nkoth: yes - and until i added the paragraph formatting parse option they were getting mixed up sometimes | [17:54] |
ricks99 | fwiw, "suspend" or "lock" is what other (e.g., yahoo!) sites use | [17:54] |
nkoth | jonnyb: ok paragraph formatting parse option - is that only in rc?
mabe I am out of date on this site | [17:55] |
jonnyb_ | it's an option for $tikilib->parse_data()
in code, not a pref | [17:55] |
chealer | ricks99: I agree these 2 are good choices. the advantage of invalidate is the association with the "Validate" terminology the admin will see to unlock the account, unless we do some more interface work | [17:59] |
ricks99 | y, but... tiki "validates" accounts by email. imho, invalidate means (to me, anyway) that the email is no longer correct
if u want to say with valid, then use "invalidate" -- "invalid" is incorrect english grammar | [18:00] |
sylvieg | suspend is a good word | [18:00] |
chealer | sylvieg: OK. could we also have a description that explains what must be put in the field. I suppose the field takes a number
ricks99: there's also "Require validation by Admin", which I imagine has nothing to do with email hum, I'm looking at the new login panel and I'm confused | [18:03] |
ricks99 | true | [18:11] |
chealer | ouch, we have 'unsuccessful_logins' => 20, as default
I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means | [18:12] |
luciash | why :)
too much or too low ? | [18:18] |
sylvieg | by any chance: does somebody know how to redirect a http query to a https query?
20 is only to defy robots a robot will not guess a password with less than 20 attempts | [18:19] |
nkoth | sylvieg: something like this: http://www.besthostratings.com/articles/force-ssl-htaccess.html? | [18:22] |
sylvieg | thx nkoth | [18:23] |
luciash | bbl | [18:24] |
sylvieg | :q | [18:31] |
chealer | well at least the feature seems broken
anyone can get it to work? I get the message "More than 20 unsuccessful login attempts have been made. An email has been sent to you with the instructions to follow" but the email/account isn't actually "invalidated"/disabled | [18:36] |
sylvieg | no the account is not disabled
I notices that too I do not know if it is a feature? but you can not log-in it is onl;y not shown as disabled | [18:37] |
chealer | I only tested on trunk, someone else could try maybe 3
sylvieg: here I can login - with the right password | [18:39] |
sylvieg: so the new option introduces a limit to the login attemps allowed before admin had to [re-]validate the account, and the old one was a limit to the login attemps allowed before the user has to [re-]validate his account? | [18:46] | |
sylvieg | ok for the new one
buit no for the old one - the account is not locked - only an email is sent... | [18:46] |
chealer | sylvieg: what's the email's purpose?
(I didn't get it because it tried sending to the wrong address - another bug) | [18:47] |
sylvieg | to propose you to change apssword...
I am sorry chealer this feature was there before I was in tiki | [18:48] |
chealer | sylvieg: does that make any sense? the logic would be users don't really care about their password, but if they're told they're under attack they'll pick a reasonable password? | [18:50] |
sylvieg | sylvieg thinks the feature is strange - but it is there since a long time - perhaps the feature has changed ... | [18:53] |
CIA-79 | tikiwiki: 03nkoth * r30716 10/branches/6.x/lib/tikilib.php: [FIX] Some headers not being picked up for maketoc in wysiwyg | [18:56] |

More than 20 unsuccessful login attempts have been made. Please visit this link before login again: http://localhost/tiki/trunk/tiki-confirm_user_email.php?user=Chealer9&pass=33f0b089c0c56c3244ac9885bca2fa83 Tiki does say "Account validated successfully." when I click the link | [18:59] |
sylvieg | but you still can log in with the old password...
so so account is not completly desactivated | [19:00] |
chealer | sylvieg: yes, and I could still login with the old password before I clicked the link
so I'm wondering what was deactivated, if anything actually was | [19:01] |
sylvieg | and I think this feature still to be able to log-in with the old password is there from the beginning
good question chealer and I have no answer it is why I developped the second feature... at least it is really desactivated | [19:01] |
chealer | chealer sighs
sylvieg: so what happens with the new feature when you hit the limit exactly? | [19:04] |
sylvieg | and admin needs to validate the acccount | [19:04] |
chealer | sylvieg: how will admins know they need to [re-]validate an account? | [19:06] |
sylvieg | in the message - I say please contact a site adminitrator
(it can be improve - but the moment I only need this) | [19:06] |
chealer | sylvieg: so when the limit is reached Tiki sends an email to the user whose account is being disabled? | [19:07] |
sylvieg | in the new feature - no
only the tiki-information.tpl | [19:08] |
chealer | sylvieg: so what the person which reaches the limit is not the owner of the account? neither the user nor admins are noticed that the account is disabled?
s/so what/so what if/ | [19:10] |
sylvieg | for now yes
execept that the user will have an account desactivated whan log-in and the admin will see a validation button in admin->users | [19:11] |

Launch | Hello
I have a few questions about TikiWiki Anyone alive in here? | [19:39] |
ricks99 | depends on what your questions are... | [19:40] |
Launch | Ok, Hi
I am looking to create a system for all the teachers in a school district they would need to edit their own pages upload their own files so students can download them and create calendars for the classes they teach would tiki be good for something like that? | [19:40] |
ricks99 | sounds like it. teacher pages = wiki pages. Tiki supports multiple file galleries and multiple calendars, too.
I suggest reviewing the feature docs to get more inf (doc.tiki.org) | [19:43] |
*** | kiilo has joined #tikiwiki | [19:43] |
Launch | really, that is cool, could they organize their files into folders?
ok ill look at that... | [19:43] |
ricks99 | Yes. File galleries can contain "sub" galliers (i.e., folders).
See docs for details: http://doc.tiki.org/file+gallery | [19:44] |
Launch | thanks! | [19:44] |
ricks99 | you're welcome | [19:45] |
Launch | how hard is it tiki to use? Many of these teachers barley have enough time to get their work done as it is, will they need a lot of training?
barely rather | [19:46] |
ricks99 | Like everything else... "it depends." Tiki is extreemly powerful & flexible, so the Admin might have a learning curve. End-users will vary, depnding on how well thought-out and organized the site is. | [19:47] |
Launch | thanks for your time | [19:48] |
ricks99 | You can "test-drive" Tiki online:
http://tiki.org/demo | [19:48] |
jonnyb_ | Launch: you can use webdav (with a bit of setting up) so they can organise files using the desktop/finder | [19:48] |
ricks99 | ah, good point... hadn't even thought of webdv | [19:48] |
Launch | I am installing it now | [19:48] |
ricks99 | new/imporved addition in Tiki 6 | [19:48] |

ricks99 | Depends what you compare it to | [19:49] |
Launch | true | [19:49] |

ricks99 | lol @ jonnyb :-) | [19:49] |

I am looking at the troubleshooting page and am reading the instructions to force the database connection to utf8. Is this the other way to fix my problem? | [20:59] |
chealer | sylvieg: apparently you're the one who introduced unsuccessful_logins (see http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/tikiwiki/changeset/8397 ) | [20:59] |
sylvieg | no it was there before | [21:00] |
chealer | sylvieg: so what is r8397 about? | [21:00] |
*** | ricks99 has joined #tikiwiki | [21:00] |
luciash | sylvieg & chealer : i don't know what it does now or doesn't exactly but this is how it should work imho: when the limit is reached (20 attempts by default) it should send the message to the account owner (and eventually to the admin) and disable further login attempts from the IP... anyway user can easily re-validate the account via the link in the mail so it is not a serious issue imho if it gets invalidated anyway | [21:01] |
sylvieg | ok seems it was me .. but 2007 - I do not remeber
it is the problem when you do not write doc | [21:02] |
luciash | np sylvie :) | [21:02] |
chealer | luciash: that looks reasonable (but that's not what it does now)
