Can anyone help me out and tell me what the username pattern would be if i only want to allow .edu usernames to register? I have a client using Tiki 3.8. They assign usernames to their customers that start with a capital letter (for ex: Daniel). If a user clicks on "I forgot my password", and they enter their username in small caps (ie: daniel), they receive the reset message correctly but their username is not in the email. If the user puts the username with the capital letter, everything is fine. Just wondering if it's a known issue or not. Dies anybody use macjournal for tikiwiki blogging? mikebeary Can anyone help me out and tell me what the username pattern would be if i only want to allow .edu usernames to register? is this the only #tikiwiki chatroom on irc? I got it, but can someone please tell me what the default value is for the data in a user module? Is it NULL or an empty string? I can't find out through testing because the user module page is hung up. It's a bug apparantly. I personaly think articles and wiki should be one feature. coaboa: to bad. It would have been a nice addition to crosslink articles and wiki pages poloom maybe there is an other way to achieve that, you may ask on developer list hi chibaguy hi coaboa the tikifest is finished? yes. I had to leave on sunday as i was with my daughter and wife and she had to go to work today from the photos, etc., looks like it was a very good time. was quite inspiring nice to meet people in person, eh? yes, those experience could not be captured digitaly and marc now knows he has to avoid to much german beer ;-) ;-) tikiwiki: 03jonnybradley * r30703 10/branches/6.x/files/: [SVN] ignore only visorFreemind.swf in /files hi jonnyb. have a question. would it be possible to have a permission for using the non-wysiwyg editor and having the wysiwig editor checking for content being edited with the non-wysiwig editor and displaying a warning or saying could not edit this content as it is not wysiwig only? reason: switching back and forth between the editors removes spaces, formatting etc. hi coaboa New Forum Posts: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 175972640 bytes) in Unknown on line 0 - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=39497 New Forum Posts: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 393216 bytes) - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=39496 yes, sounds like a good idea - with html the convertion is always slightly descrictive (still) destructive in this way wysiwig could be standard editor for eg registered and editors could have the permission to do "advanced stuff" without the need to implement everything possible into the wysiwig editor. backdraw would be once edite with non-wysiwig a page couldn't edited with the wysiwyg unless inventing a {wysiwig}{/wysiwig} tag or something like that *once edited why not switch back? i thought the main problems were with converting html to wiki, not the other way (the parser does it all the time!) I do not know this... I ve done this: wysiwig- text with partialy formats in bold, font size and italic. saved it. opened again switched to standard editor, saved it, opend again in wysiwig and most of the formatting disapeared. you're opening a wiki page in wiysiwyg mode? yes, this will break do you have "open in same editor" pref set? don't think so, was'nt aware of such a setting... test it did you apply the WYSIWYG_6x profile? no, sould I? *should you are using 6.x i hope? yes off course a warning box will appear above the wysiwyg editor if the settings are wrong where can I find this profile? admin-profiles.tiki.org does not list it should do... I am having a problem with shift-enters starting paragraphs.... and after the admin decides to speak or to send an email or .. to the user hi nkoth - because that's the closest to what ckeditor creates (and how proper html should be generated, imho) i like "suspend account after... ricks99: I was saying "Invalid" is not a verb/conjugation jonnyb: oh I see , for people switching editors if u want to use invalid, it should be "invalidate" but really, the account isn't "invalid", it has just been temporarily suspended nkoth: yes - and until i added the paragraph formatting parse option they were getting mixed up sometimes fwiw, "suspend" or "lock" is what other (e.g., yahoo!) sites use jonnyb: ok paragraph formatting parse option - is that only in rc? mabe I am out of date on this site it's an option for $tikilib->parse_data() in code, not a pref ricks99: I agree these 2 are good choices. the advantage of invalidate is the association with the "Validate" terminology the admin will see to unlock the account, unless we do some more interface work y, but... tiki "validates" accounts by email. imho, invalidate means (to me, anyway) that the email is no longer correct if u want to say with valid, then use "invalidate" -- "invalid" is incorrect english grammar suspend is a good word sylvieg: OK. could we also have a description that explains what must be put in the field. I suppose the field takes a number ricks99: there's also "Require validation by Admin", which I imagine has nothing to do with email hum, I'm looking at the new login panel and I'm confused true ouch, we have 'unsuccessful_logins' => 20, as default I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means why :) too much or too low ? by any chance: does somebody know how to redirect a http query to a https query? 20 is only to defy robots a robot will not guess a password with less than 20 attempts sylvieg: something like this: http://www.besthostratings.com/articles/force-ssl-htaccess.html? thx nkoth bbl :q well at least the feature seems broken anyone can get it to work? I get the message "More than 20 unsuccessful login attempts have been made. An email has been sent to you with the instructions to follow" but the email/account isn't actually "invalidated"/disabled no the account is not disabled I notices that too I do not know if it is a feature? but you can not log-in it is onl;y not shown as disabled I only tested on trunk, someone else could try maybe 3 sylvieg: here I can login - with the right password sylvieg: so the new option introduces a limit to the login attemps allowed before admin had to [re-]validate the account, and the old one was a limit to the login attemps allowed before the user has to [re-]validate his account? ok for the new one buit no for the old one - the account is not locked - only an email is sent... sylvieg: what's the email's purpose? (I didn't get it because it tried sending to the wrong address - another bug) to propose you to change apssword... I am sorry chealer this feature was there before I was in tiki sylvieg: does that make any sense? the logic would be users don't really care about their password, but if they're told they're under attack they'll pick a reasonable password? tikiwiki: 03nkoth * r30716 10/branches/6.x/lib/tikilib.php: [FIX] Some headers not being picked up for maketoc in wysiwyg sylvieg: here's what the mail said: More than 20 unsuccessful login attempts have been made. IOW, is a DOS forcing a recovery from the database possible if that feature is enabled? Hello I have a few questions about TikiWiki Anyone alive in here? depends on what your questions are... Ok, Hi I am looking to create a system for all the teachers in a school district they would need to edit their own pages upload their own files so students can download them and create calendars for the classes they teach would tiki be good for something like that? sounds like it. teacher pages = wiki pages. Tiki supports multiple file galleries and multiple calendars, too. I suggest reviewing the feature docs to get more inf (doc.tiki.org) really, that is cool, could they organize their files into folders? ok ill look at that... Yes. File galleries can contain "sub" galliers (i.e., folders). See docs for details: http://doc.tiki.org/file+gallery thanks! you're welcome how hard is it tiki to use? Many of these teachers barley have enough time to get their work done as it is, will they need a lot of training? barely rather Like everything else... "it depends." Tiki is extreemly powerful & flexible, so the Admin might have a learning curve. End-users will vary, depnding on how well thought-out and organized the site is. thanks for your time You can "test-drive" Tiki online: http://tiki.org/demo Launch: you can use webdav (with a bit of setting up) so they can organise files using the desktop/finder ah, good point... hadn't even thought of webdv I am installing it now new/imporved addition in Tiki 6 seems to work much better in 6 25mb is a lot of data compared to what, Launch? ;) Depends what you compare it to true :)) lol @ jonnyb :-) you get used to it looking good :) tx re I am using ver 5.2 I have the problem where pdf files are served blank. I am attempted to solve the problem by changing to 'store in directory', but no luck getting that to work. I am looking at the troubleshooting page and am reading the instructions to force the database connection to utf8. Is this the other way to fix my problem? sylvieg: apparently you're the one who introduced unsuccessful_logins (see http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/tikiwiki/changeset/8397 ) no it was there before sylvieg: so what is r8397 about? sylvieg & chealer : i don't know what it does now or doesn't exactly but this is how it should work imho: when the limit is reached (20 attempts by default) it should send the message to the account owner (and eventually to the admin) and disable further login attempts from the IP... anyway user can easily re-validate the account via the link in the mail so it is not a serious issue imho if it gets invalidated anyway ok seems it was me .. but 2007 - I do not remeber it is the problem when you do not write doc np sylvie :) luciash: that looks reasonable (but that's not what it does now) sylvieg: OK, so if the feature is unclear and the author doesn't understand it, would you object to removing it? which one? sylvieg: the old one from r8397 no because the new one is not finished did I commit in 6? sylvieg: sorry, you wouldn't object to removing it, or you're not for removing the old one because the new one is not finished? sylvieg: the new one was committed in trunk (but there's no indication it's incomplete...) chealer do whatever you want sylvieg: thanks but you need to build something not to rollback does anyone else think preference "Re-validate user by email after n unsuccessful login attempts" should not be removed? for me there is 2 features sylvieg: so what do I need to build? nobody seems to understand what the option is supposed to do. ok time for documentation Using ver 5.2. After changing to store files in directory and editing the new directory permissions I get an upload file error of "Cannot write to this file:/files/35849492a53327c1f3e2f4589f81c6dd" Host support says all permissions are correct and should allow read/write by apache. Any suggestions on where to go from here? what are the permissions of the ../files/ directory? 755 dir i also tried 777 the file name i was attempting to upload was 2093_1246936282.jpg on the admin: file gallery page, where you added the "files" directory, did you uncliude the trailig slash? ... did you inlucde the trailing slash... path is /files/ should be files/ no need for first slash is "files" inside your >" bbl ok, i could have sworn i tried that before with no luck but it seems to be working now. i'm tellin ya..... some days! thanks for the help, i appreciate it ricks99 is strong in the force - his presence makes things work :) :) ricks99: would you mind moving next to tiki.org servers for a few years.
