inspire: I'm going to have to kill myself.
fabricius: hey inspire
inspire: man.. two days.. i can't handle it anymore
fabricius: I had massive problems to get a first running installation going on my providers host
inspire: my brain is fried. My frustration is exploding
Failed opening required 'db/tiki-db.php' (include_path='/home/fusionx/public_html/inspireeducation/portal1/lib/pear:.:/usr/lib/php:/home/fusionx/public_html/inspireeducation/portal1/lib/core/lib') in /home/fusionx/public_html/inspireeducation/portal1/tiki-setup_base.php on line 45
fabricius: I did need nearly two weeks and every day I was telefoning with the support guys
inspire: what is that all about?
is there telephone support?!
I am totally happy to pay to get this fixed
my IT guys are all Tiki clueless unfortunately
fabricius: yes, paid by my organisation - I do not think, that it would be the same provider
in the end the problem was very easy - like:
the on, who can read would be in some kind of advance
inspire: do you know where I can get paid support? I am losing far more money not getting this revolved. I just don't have anyone to call
fabricius: a german saying
some of us are consultants, but if you have a bit of patience, we might help you here
db/tiki-db.php looks like a problem with the database connection
inspire: Hi Fabricus. I am trying to approach this from all angles. I can't even do a fresh install without getting those parse errors. My existing database no longer accepts uploads
says this "Upload was not successful: The file you are trying upload was only partially uploaded"
fabricius: moment, I´ll try to explain ya some possible reasons
inspire: thanks fabricus
it only happened when we moved our TIki away to a different server, and then back. Never had probs uploading before
fabricius: in the end of the day it is a pity, that I didn´t get there, to put a certain documentation together for the instalation workflow for my provider - could possibly help ya
and you do not have an old dump from the old server?
and now you are already moved back and no more access to the new one?
huuu seem to be a bit complicated your situation
if I get it right
where you are located?
inspire: I did have a dump. Tiki is functionally fine. Just can't add new files (hence I was trying to do fresh installs as a workaroudn)
Brisbane Australia
fabricius: and you are back at your old provider now, with the same settings?
if yes: did you there have made up a new database and put in the old dump from before the moving action?
inspire: database is the same and correctly working. Just this Tiki file upload thing. I would have thought it was server settings, but even if I change to "directory" rather than database file storage I get that same error message
fabricius: What I do not understand, is why you get this faults now, if you have the old database-dump, the same webspace than before etc.
s.th. must have changed in the meantime -> what? what is different than before?
So did you use the dump from the new (temporary) provider and there some changes have been corrupting s.th. - or what?
inspire: same. I have no idea other than to get the database back, my provider had to give me 24 hours access of bigger than 50MB file dump.
maybe something else changed when they removed than 24 hour ability?
fabricius: I cannot check that
but you still have the original dump?
and ssh accessß
inspire: I have one other workaround I am trying. I got Fantasico to install Tiki 5.2. fresh install and when I go to upload there I get this error message "Upload was not successful: A temporary folder is missing."
fabricius: I never worked with fantastico
inspire: Too much has changed (i.e. over 200 new users/setting etc) since original dump
fabricius: I have two ways to import a dump:
inspire: no that's cool. But basically Tiki is working on that install
but uploading there gives "Upload was not successful: A temporary folder is missing" message. Any ideas?
fabricius: on one server with ssh - I could send you the command
inspire: sure
please
fabricius: on the other with a php script, if I remember right (not so often there)

jonnyb: polom all
hi chibaguy - we should discuss this theme generator/roller thing for tiki 7
rodrigo_sampaio: polom
jonnyb: hi rodrigo_sampaio
rodrigo_sampaio: anyone knows if it is possible to configure Tiki so that an user automatically lose session after a period of inactivity?
jonnyb: i think you'd do that in the apache config
rodrigo_sampaio: jonnyb: apache or php? I think it is PHP. There is an option inside Tiki under Admin -> Performance -> Session called "session lifetime"
jonnyb: I expected this option to do exactly what I need but it doesn't seem to work :)
chibaguy: hi jonnyb, yes we should
jonnyb: i think there's also one in apache config
rodrigo_sampaio: jonnyb: ok, I will check thanks
jonnyb: chibaguy: when would be good for you? (no rush, i have a few other things to get out of the way before i start coding)
chibaguy: jonnyb: any time would be ok, pretty much.
I've been trying to think about it and see other examples, etc.
-: jonnyb reads http://dev.tiki.org/theme+generator again
chibaguy: I don't know how relevant some of the references there are.
Seems like one approach is extending jquery ui somehow.
jonnyb: indeed - big job, to alter _all_ the tpls to use the jq-ui classes, but some of it might be scriptable
chibaguy: From the Tiki files side, I'd like to see about simplifying the css so it isn't such a monster, whether for a majical generator or just manual labor.
jonnyb: (with some clever regexp'ing)
agreed
almost all the specific classes (like "form" and "normal" and "link" should go (i know you've been removing them for a while)
the main thing to agree, i think, is that old themes (pre 7) will need significant work to adapt, like the 2 -> 3 upgrade
chibaguy: probably so.
One thing I want to post is the selectors that I find usually need styling to do a new theme.
Maybe some layout defaults don't need to be touched by a theme maker.
jonnyb: sorry, don't follow you... but yes, we're only really talking about the "design.css" department
ah, one thing that came up when Marc & lphuberdeau was that we should split design into design and typography - sounded like a good plan
layout will more and more be down to the module placement
which will have a new rinky-dink drag and drop interface (just put them where you want them!)
chibaguy: well, I mean whatever thing is devised to let people configure a theme, probably only a subset of all the selectors needs to be available for that. Is that what you didn't follow, about?
luciash: rodrigo_sampaio: hi, i thought it is by default when you don't use remember me
rodrigo_sampaio: the user loses session after some of 25 mins of insctivity
*inactivity
rodrigo_sampaio: hi luciash
luciash: as i understood it takes the session lifetime defined in php or something
rodrigo_sampaio: luciash: 25 or so minutes of inactivity is the default value (PHP's session.gc_maxlifetime)
luciash: if you mean to change that period
yes
rodrigo_sampaio: luciash: exactly, that is what I want
change the period
luciash: ok, it should work (in theory)
rodrigo_sampaio: luciash: yes, but I can't make it work, at least on my local machine :)
chibaguy: jonnyb: I'll make a wiki page about what I've been thinking, preliminary things, etc. in the next day or two.
rodrigo_sampaio: luciash: I'm checking the code now and I think I might be close to the solution
luciash: rodrigo_sampaio: even if u change it in php.ini or u mean via tiki ?
jonnyb: chibaguy: super - sorry, got distracted...
chibaguy: np
rodrigo_sampaio: luciash: I haven't tried yet changing directly on php.ini I suppose this would work
jonnyb: hi luciash
rodrigo_sampaio: luciash: I'm checking why it is not working for me via tiki
luciash: hi jonnyb :)
rodrigo_sampaio: it might be restricted value (by php config)... some values cannot be changed by ini_set()
rodrigo_sampaio: luciash: I'm setting the session lifetime to 1 minute but it just it the session for much longer them 1 minute
luciash: no, it is not. session.gc_maxlifetime is PHP_INI_ALL
luciash: ah
hmm
no idea then
rodrigo_sampaio: luciash: thanks anyway :)
luciash: jonnyb: can we try the article date weirdness again ?
jonnyb: ok, yes - good idea, but need to gather together about 6 things i'm failing to do properly now, and then go out for a little while - you about later? (in a couple of hours?)
luciash: jonnyb: not sure
in the evening, yes
jonnyb: so now is best for you? ok...
luciash: around 22:00 CET
now is fine for me, yes
jonnyb: ok, let's do it (what?)
article date still one hour out for you?
luciash: i have an article published on November 30, 2010 at 06:19 CET
when i go and edit that article...
it changes the day to -1 day
as i see while editing the article in the dropdown down there
can you reproduce that jonnyb ?
jonnyb: ok, checking
luciash: jonnyb: not one hour, one *day*
jonnyb: ok - editing...
nope, date stays the same
luciash: Publish Date, right ?
jonnyb: yup
luciash: weird
jonnyb: stayed exactly the same - 2010-11-25 15:21
luciash: what can be different that every edit of article sets tha day one day earlier for me ?
it happens also when i start new article
jonnyb: can you try change your timezone to CET ?
jonnyb: can anyone else confirm this? i'm in GMT so no TZ offset at all
for server or browser? (or both?)
luciash: Tiki
jonnyb: this is the question and i always get muddled up when i try this :)
luciash: for Tiki
jonnyb: oh yes, and tiki
luciash: tiki-admin.php?page=general
hmm, i have there Timezone: UTC and Displayed time zone: Detect user timezone (if browser allows). Otherwise use site default.
but why it doesn't change only one hour but *one day* for the article editing ?
jonnyb: i set mine to europe/athens but the article date didn't change
luciash: jonnyb: i will try to change that UTC value to CET in the meanwhile also
for Timezone:
jonnyb: how do you mean?
luciash: Europe/Prague i mean
how ?
on tiki-admin.php?page=general
4th tab
PhilBack: Hi jonnyb
Had a go at trackers once more :-)
luciash: for me it is still the same... shows December 8 instead of 9 while editing new article
jonnyb: ^
PhilBack: I start getting my head wrapped around them!
jonnyb: sorry luciash - cannot reproduce here... maybe i need to delete sessions etc
PhilBack: Think I found yet another issue. Solved in my codebase for my purposes but will have to see with silvieg if this can be moved into the codebase.

jonnyb: so it definitelly messes up the date there in articles edit dropdown somehow
jonnyb: hmmm
luciash: jonnyb: seems some glitch in the tpl maybe
jonnyb: it's a smarty object isn't it?
but they're ok for you elsewhere
luciash: jonnyb: 1) not sure 2) yes
jonnyb: is this all browsers too?
luciash: there is {html_select_date prefix="publish_" time=$publishDateSite start_year="-5" end_year="+10" field_order=$prefs.display_field_order}, so yes, smarty
jonnyb: it is Chrome, didn't check other actually, let me try firefox
jonnyb: so why/how can it be different there compared to other places
luciash: jonnyb: no idea, can you point me to other place to check actually ? i haven't seen the dropdown elsewhere lately than in the article edit
jonnyb: i mean wiki pages save with correct date, etc., but there is no date choice of course
jonnyb: searching for you...

luciash: ok, enabling calendar feature
ricks99: Hopefully my final tracker question... i have 2 text fields. i want to make it mandatory that users complete one or the other. is this possible?
jonnyb: ricks99: with jquery...
ricks99: ah....
jonnyb: have a look at xavi's tracker doc page
-: ricks99 vaguely remebers seeing something like that in the docs
ricks99: off to re-read. tx
luciash: jonnyb: switching browsers, launching firefox now, logging in... sorry it takes time
jonnyb: i know

CIA-79: tikiwiki: 03jonnybradley * r31314 10/trunk/ (20 files in 7 dirs): [MRG] Automatic merge, branches/6.x 31284 to 31312
jonnyb: basically, it this an articles problem, or tiki, or browser?
luciash: jonnyb: yea, trying to figure out
jonnyb: might be problem with time=$publishDateSite
if $publishDateSite is generated wrong for the articles edit
jonnyb: well, seems odd that i can't reproduce it, despite messing around with my timezones
luciash: jonnyb: tiki-calendar_edit_item.php shows correct date and time
jonnyb: ok, good - means it's somewhere in edit article
luciash: did you chose Timezone: to Europe/Prague and Displayed time zone: to Use site default to show times ? or the other radio button ?
jonnyb: little problem is, the add event for calendar doesn't use dropdown for choosing date, but it shows the date in text input field
-: luciash enabling Blogs feature
luciash: jonnyb: and btw, it is wrong for Firefox in edit article too, so not browser related it seems
jonnyb: oh yes, created blog, trying to add my first post, and the same problem appears, date is December 08 2010 in the dropdown
time is correct
jonnyb: aha, ok - so not just articles...
luciash: so either it is bug in the smarty html date select function or in the php code computing the $publishDateSite
sylvieg: I have the same problem too in action log the html date slect does not work anymore ... I think since the last timezone commits
jonnyb: hi sylvieg - sounds like it's the html date thing then?
ricks99: @jonnyb: i see how to use jq to make conditional *display* of tracker fields, but how to make conditional *mandatory* fields?
sylvieg: did somebody change that recently?
jonnyb: i fixed the isTimeZoneValid func a while ago, might be a consequence of that
sorry ricks99 - stack overflow. later pls
luciash: jonnyb: in the php tiki-edit_article.php i see on line 536 and 537 assigning the same variable to two different smarty variables, any idea why ?
ricks99: lol. np. tx
luciash: jonnyb: $publishDate is assignde to publishDate and publishDateSite
jonnyb: ok, now i get the wrong day displayed (so the 18th shows up as 17th on the dropdown)
have something to debug at last! :)
but first need to go out, should be able to fix later - thanks luciash
luciash: can it be bug in $tikilib->now ?
ok
thank you jonnyb
jonnyb: great that you reproduce finally ;)

sylvieg: ... I thought it was working like you want - I did not have complain from the customers....
ricks99: @sylvieg: tx for your help with my trackeritem question yesterday. new issue... using {TRACKER} plugin how can i make it mandatory for a user to complete field A or field B? only one or the other is required.
sylvieg: there is no solution I know out of the box
probably as Jonny said jquery can do it - but it is not an easy one to do
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: I will check again, but my impression is that if you set session.cookie_lifetime to 1500 after 25 minutes the user will lose session no matter if he is browsing the site or inactive
ricks99: k. so the "mandatory-ness" would b handled by JQ -- not by using the "is mandatory" option for the tracker field?

RobertPlummer: Imagine that power in tiki!
jonnyb: is there a demo? (i'm looking)
RobertPlummer: The worlds first auto complete tiki engine!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1kWkTUos7A
I haven't gotten that far.
jonnyb: i almost had tiki doing autocomplete in tiki 4 (i think)
if you typed "((" it would automatically bring up the dropdown of wiki page names...
just couldn't get it working cleanly in firefox - so ended up doing those dialog tools
shame
RobertPlummer: I think the tiki parser should be dropped and you should create a tiki language.
Easy enough to say at least ;)
jonnyb: nice - even seems to work mostly in safari
it's on the list
actually i think the plan is to have a parser
RobertPlummer: use jison + php lime and you will open up a world of possibilities.
jonnyb: not the tangle of nested if statements we currently have
you should discuss it with LP when he's around
RobertPlummer: jonnyb, I tried to break it in javascript, I tried and tired, and if the syntax is good, nested or not, it works GREAT!
jonnyb: he's been thinking about it for several years and has plans
RobertPlummer: Who?
jonnyb: lphuberdeau
RobertPlummer: Ah yes.
jonnyb: Louis Philippe
RobertPlummer: You must see this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRmC49JTx8M&feature=related
jonnyb, back to the editor, the problem about skywriter is that it is full screen.
jonnyb: only for html 5 pages?
RobertPlummer: And I think it must be included in reverse, it runs on the browser rather than the website.
PhilBack: wow RobertPlummer, that's cool.
jonnyb: exactly - we sort of wouldn't need to "include" it in the usual way
RobertPlummer: So is it a good idea or no?
jonnyb: yay! you can get the pixel width of a text string! (been waiting since the 90's for that!)
RobertPlummer: Those who would use it, could, those who don't won't even know it exists.
jonnyb: (in html 5)
as you say, might be a bit much for tiki

That is just amazing!
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: if you are interested in the session issue check http://oswaldatwork.thetaoofamp.com/2009/11/php-session-gc_maxlifetime-vs-session-cookie_lifetime/
jonnyb: sorry, still in bespin
RobertPlummer: That is what I'm talking about.
jonnyb: :)
RobertPlummer: bespin is amazing
jonnyb: it's not full page only
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: setting session.cookie_lifetime ends the section after a period independent of user activity
RobertPlummer: Really?
jonnyb: the demo on https://bespin.mozillalabs.com/bookmarklet/ is just on a small textarea
sylvieg: thanks rodrigo
RobertPlummer: They say it is very easily extendable.
sylvieg: and did you find out the right setting
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: yes, three settings are involved session.gc_maxlifetime, session.gc_probability and session.gc_divisor
jonnyb: hey! i've got it working in http://demo.tiki.org/trunk/tiki-editpage.php?page=HomePage :)
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: setting only session.gc_maxlifetime does not guarantee that the session will end, the session file is marked as garbage after a period of time according session.gc_maxlifetime
jonnyb: now we just need a tiki "parser"
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: but them is up to the garbage collector to remove the session file and than the session will end
RobertPlummer: jonnyb, trying bespin on tiki
sylvieg: rodrigo_sampaio: ok make sense - thanks
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: both session.gc_probability and session.gc_divisor affects how often the garbage collector will run
jonnyb: needs to be trunk i think
PhilBack: The left part with dashboard in Bespin opens new ways to collaborate.
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: it took me some time to figure out due to a "bug" on ubuntu/debian, the distribution that I use. this distro use a cron as garbage collector and the PHP builtin garbage collector does not work by default
RobertPlummer: A problem I see with it right off the bat is that is seems to support 1 at a time language editing.
-: jonnyb also has a quick look at the session thing
RobertPlummer: Tiki is confusing.
rodrigo_sampaio: sylvieg: just in case you use ubuntu or debian as well
RobertPlummer: Multi languages
PhilBack: Why confusing?
sylvieg: rodrigo_sampaio: perhaps it can be documented just after http://doc.tiki.org/Login+Config#Remember_Me
jonnyb: RobertPlummer: xavi was suggesting (what ever highlighter/editor we use) that making a tiki markup colouriser could start off quite simply - say, just doing plugins and their params, and simple formatting like bold etc would help a bit
hmm, it doesn't like my fullscreen function much! :P
i don't seem to be getting any autocomplete though
ok, time to look at http://codemirror.net/ (need to get on)

jonnyb: i think i understand it a bit better too

also bespin/skythingy seems a bit alpha

general question - what app do you use for irc (would be nice to be able to scroll back to see the history before i showed up)
HI Phil how is trackerland?
jonnyb: mine doesn't do that (a Mac thing) - but you can see what you missed on http://irc.tiki.org
PhilBack: okay. I am debugging something in trackerlib->listitems...
PhpED: a godsend. I couldn't imagine doing this in Vim...
jonnyb: RobertPlummer: can you see a way codemirror could work on a div or <p>
RobertPlummer: jonnyb - to edit them?
jonnyb: no, to display them
RobertPlummer: jonnyb - You need a parser!
jonnyb: the code plugin renders them as <pre> blocks
yes
RobertPlummer: You are trying to use something is a way it was never intended.
jonnyb: most sites now show code with syntax highlighting
we should to
RobertPlummer: Code edit highlighting and displaying are 2 different things I think.
jonnyb: but it seems silly to have one load of parser/highlighter code for textareas, and another for <pre> blocks
mlpvolt: Mikes attention focuses on the handy link to irc.tiki.org in that header window - yep that is sufficient.
RobertPlummer: I agree,
jonnyb: but the colourising surely is the same
RobertPlummer: You have a good point jonnyb.
jonnyb: previously we were looking at http://alexgorbatchev.com/SyntaxHighlighter/
but isn't for editing
so surely someone's spotted that the same tokenising/parsing/colourising could be used for both editing and displaying
***: ricks99|away has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 250 seconds)
jonnyb: anyway, i have to get back to other stuff, so to conclude - bespin is lovely but maybe ok for tiki 9, codemirror would be great if we can work out how to get it to do <pre> blocks as well as <textareas> (should be easier i would have thought)

nevermind
why did the syntax change?
***: changi|afk has joined #tikiwiki
PhilBack: category transitions. Wanna know how they work? Check the code :-)
lphuberdeau: that works, or you can install the demo profile which showcases the features and populates bits of the UI so it makes some sense (some, only)
I also added some bits to the doc, feel free to improve ;) http://doc.tiki.org/Category+Transitions
PhilBack: thing is: I add transitions but they vanish from the UI.
I am now looking at transitionlib
lphuberdeau: disable ajax
some bug was reported and that solved it
PhilBack: I want to control category changes within a field of a tracker item. Would it work?
can't
ajax used in that site.
lphuberdeau: you need to disable it at least while you use that UI
PhilBack: ok, ok.
lphuberdeau: the ajax feature just breaks it
PhilBack: I think I'll do a yaml file for now.
lphuberdeau: that works too
although there are fancy graphics in the UI to represent the workflow
PhilBack: but the main problem I face is how to use it for controlling changes in a tracker item edit. does i works?
lphuberdeau: you need the category transition module, but yes, it works on tracker items
works on anything categorized
PhilBack: yes but I want to use that on an input field. So that transitions cannot happen if guards are failing.
lphuberdeau: on an input field?
PhilBack: yes
lphuberdeau: I don't understand, what do you mean?
PhilBack: like you can say: from this state to this other: must obey the category transitions. The field is of type category and I give the parent category.
so a trakcer item can be in various states along several angles at once. One angle is publicaiton flow, the other would be another angle.
lphuberdeau: just making it clear... even if trackers have category fields, the categories still apply to the entire item
PhilBack: understood, that's why I haven't categorized the items per se.
lphuberdeau: sure, transitions are quite open-ended
you can have multiple workflows simultaneously affecting the item
PhilBack: An I do want to use transitionlib to have people seeing only what they can change.
lphuberdeau: and guards can link em together
PhilBack: how can I define those damn guards BTW?
I saw user functions in the lib but it doesn't tells me much
lphuberdeau: through a profile? look at the example
PhilBack: call_user_func_array(...)
lphuberdeau: http://profiles.tiki.org/Category_Transition_Demonstration
PhilBack: where does 'exactly' comes from ?
this is the only sample
guards:
- [ exactly, 2, [ $approved_by_dev, $approved_by_qa ] ]
lphuberdeau: the UI kind of guides through that
PhilBack: nope, it fails (well, ajax... ok)
lphuberdeau: lib/test/core/Transition/BasicTest.php
PhilBack: good
thx
***: redflo has left
lphuberdeau: that's the tests for the internal libraries... transitionlib is just the bit loading and saving to the db
PhilBack: mmh
now all of my transitions have gone... weird
lphuberdeau: really, disable ajax... enabling that one by default was a criminal act
ricks99: is there *any* way to use wysiwyg in tiki 6 without ajax? when i try, i get a prompt that i must install a profile (that in turn turns on ajax)
lphuberdeau: I don't know
I just know the ajax feature messing up all the links, preventing normal browser navigation like back/forward, opening new tabs, bookmarking - is a piece of trash
PhilBack: oh, guards are only for previous states... there isn't logic in there. exactly, at most, at least. Well I'll have to find another way to achieve what I want then.
lphuberdeau: well, not only previous states, current state, but with categories not in the transition
what is the condition you're trying to meet?
PhilBack: yeah. Okay, but this is not going to help with my goal. Thanks for the explanations.
I'd like to chat about that but I've got a deadline here, so I'll custom code that and be done with it.
lphuberdeau: in many cases you can introduce an other category that is managed by some external process, like "Expired" or stuff like that
PhilBack: Also, the module doesn't always shows in the sidebar. Don't know why. Maybe custom layouts in that site (I am not the only one working on it)
lphuberdeau: the module only shows when it detects an object with categories
you can modify the template if you're not happy with that ;)
PhilBack: ah, okay
will look at it.
the module template you mean
lphuberdeau: yeah
