(experimental/xajax_removal) yay, no problem on the second try. Good morning from the netherlands. Good day/night for those in a different timezone. I'm trying out the banner feature of tikiwiki but don't get it to work. I created a banner with zone Fam. And i put the following code inside a wiki page {banner zone='Fam'} but nothing shows. ajakkes: If I recall correctly, the banner syntax can't be used directly in a wiki page. Did you check the docs at doc.tiki.org? The docs i found where from the 3.0 version and don't mention such thing You can include a banner in a wiki page with PluginBanner (quote from the site) Ah, i made a little mistake (but it still doesnt work) I should use {banner (zone='Fam')/} Now I get : missing parameter : on the location of the banner Did you try without quote marks? Did you enable the banner plugin? (Related topic: it bugs me when I make _one_ change on a Tiki admin page and then I get "The following list of changes has been applied:" that contains six or seven items. Huh? hi chibaguy - re I now have {banner (zone='Fam') /} Tried without the quotes as well those extra "changes applied" in admin are due to missing declarations in lib/setup/prefs.php so the first time you save them they get "created" from the form (i think) If I would add the target parameter where would it go? In the () or in separate () hi jonnyb. I suspected something like that but it's kind of disconcerting. Probably moreso to new users. they're quite easy to fix - when you see one check in prefs.php and see if it's set in there - if not - add it ;) ajakkes: the plugin helper creates syntax like this: {BANNER(zone="mybannerzone",target="display")}{BANNER} ajakkes: I just tried the banner plugin in a wiki page and, for me too, nothing displays. this was at a Tiki 6 site. chibaguy: 2 q's - 1: we should chat about module/theme revamp, and 2: i made a "teal" option for eatlon, should i commit it (in trunk) You could try make a user module, and putting the banner syntax in it. Im using Tiki 6 as well jonnyb, yes, I was just updating my local xajax_removal branch, and saw the new menu module in the top, etc. Try no caps and a space after the banner can we skype sometime? (or BBB) {banner (zone="mybannerzone",target="display") /} How do i make a user module? ajakkes: I get the missing parameter error now. On tiki-admin_modules.php Yes, jonnyb, this time period is good for me. (on weekdays) ok, if you can wait a few mins (10?) then a chat would be good well, I was just about to eat, actually. ok, after is fine - i'm here for hours :) I created a user module which is on the right with a title banner In it i put the code {banner zone=Fam} with the quick-add function I't shows the menu but nothing is in it dev.tiki.org should be checked for banner-related bugs. I see the timeshift bug, which is happening on my page as well. But no bug indicating my problem. Finaly it worked {banner zone=Fam target=display} or {banner zone=Fam} I don't know what i did earlier why it didn't work I thought I'd tried this already ah, ok. If it worked at last, that's good. jonnyb, can we try skyping 22 hours from now? I have to go off line now. maybe change the banner document page? (6:40pm tokyo time) ajakkes: yes, that would be good. Could someone do that? ok chibaguy - see you tomorrow ok, good. ajakkes, I'll try in the next day or two. Hi JohnnyB, Thanks. SteveC_: just having a quick look - which branch was that from? it needs to be based on trunk really (your one looks quite old) I made the changes using my 6.1 installation. I've not created an SVN version. it would have to be committed into trunk first now - can you update it to the current latest version? otherwise the past few months of changes would be overwritten (not a good thing! :) ) Sure, but I'm a little confused as to why the 6.1 code I used would be the latest. But happy to get it right. because 6.1 came out a while ago, and someone's changed the file in trunk since then Ah, okay. it's a bit complicated - check out http://dev.tiki.org/Where+to+commit which should hopefully help it's to make sure stuff in 6.x is also in 7+ (sort of important) Yes. I understand. I've created a repository or two to share my edits properly, but I just can't keep with it regular enough with my other projects. So this was my "well at least do _something_" approach. looks like a good start to me - hopefully we can get you commit access so you can do it directly! the fact you came here and check first is a promising start imho :) I have commit access from one of my earlier attempts to join the community, but it's been so long I've completely lost the connect info. Thanks for the info Oh, one more thing... is there some sort of reference as to how I can get the plugin help system updated properly? OT: when you move to another webhosting, how do you deal with your mail accounts ? (IMAP in this case) I moved my emails to google apps for domains to avoid all that mess Hi, everybody. I begin really to develop now for tiki. i have found how to move the sent and received mails "manual" way using Thunderbird, but it is not very "kosher" About dev tips and rules. During long years I have developped the habit to comment the changes of code in details with this rule : I insert this beginning of comment syntax : //Begin ###:-nn:[conventional nature FIX ENH...]-> and at the end ///End ###:-nn When the changes of the "nn" are ended or to review I search for the sequence and clean it. When a comment must remain longer I just put off one "#" (no coherency or dev pb or todo if only ##trebly found). This allows that I never (quite) forgot changes to do or coherency to verify and make work (into) a team so that the commit can be soon and let the others aware of the parts code we are working on to avoid conflict and enhance coordination and cooperation on a lot of subjects. What do you think about this way of work ? lphuberdeau: ah, hmm, was it easy to "move" them ? luciash: I just kept my local copy for the old stuff and I need it less and less as time moves forward lphuberdeau: i see Trebly: When I need the history, I simply rely on subversion, with the amount of changes going on in tiki, those comments become noise over time Trebly: welcome to devs ! :) but yes, i would like to see an example file but it looks a bit messy It is only during the development after it is cleaned and we can refer to SVN. More as there are the previous versions the "tags" during development and after "comments" can be found exactly at their place into the code. Yesterday I commit a change for $calendarViewMode to an array because of bug generated when they are several calendars on the same screen : example if your change the view of action_calendar you will see the main calendar change too. If you click on a date into action_calendar module your display of the calendar module will change to week etc... This change is a comment of the commit and in tki_calendar-setup (you can see an example : generally the comment are just one line long...)l. When the calendars problems will be clean (near 15 bugs inventoried) a general commit will clean this comment. Before there are others point I put my ###trebly comment. Sometimes when I commit there are already cleaned, but it is a very useful tool when there are many changed in various parts of the code. This allows too to commit earlier. multiple commits with individual messages are good too Trebly: is it manual or you mean there is a tool to generate such comments ? Ok if it can be sequenced into coherent and full changes. In fact after each commit which fix or enhance or add etc. and make functions better, there are often a lot of pending changes, I need to find them as a check list to review the part of project concerned. :) I have a quick copy for structure using Yankee-clipper with patterns. and make comment manually -> copy to current patterns I don't use during a new development. But it is critical when you have perhaps 20 or more coherent changes by steps (commit) in various parts of a soft. svn can always show the complete changes when commited together polom hi chealer hi luciash. luciash: what do you mean, it's not very kosher? :) chealer: 1) i have to set new imap account on the new server 2) create manually same folders 3) delete the old account on the old server 4) switch to offline mode in thunderbird to prevent the old account yelling about can't connect to the deleted account every time i click the old folder... 5) manually select all and drag the messages from old server account folders to the new server account folders and pray it will not mess up copying all the hundreds m chealer: more kosher would be some easy export import way, don't you think ? luciash: it's unlikely that you can automate that on the client, but did you ask, say, #thunderbird on irc.mozilla.org ? chealer: nope, i have figured that myself tikiwiki: 03lphuberdeau * r31878 10/trunk/ (lib/wiki/flaggedrevisionlib.php tiki-pagehistory.php): [MOD] When flagged revision approval is enabled and the user is not allowed to view all revisions, filter them out of the history luciash: what is the solution? above i've found no easier (as i said more kosher) way luciash: oh, yeah...I meant you could ask on #thunderbird if they know of a better way. I gave into the comment the content of the comment of tiki-calendar_setup.php. But if anybody edits tiki-calendar_export_ical.php he will find immediately the same (in fact the same sequence... ...duplicated) and I give the key to find all the modifications search for $calendarViewMode['casedefault'] and there is no comments. But when I will use $calendarViewMode['others''], change byref uses etc., all when with ajax the same routine are used if there are no comments for various changes that I can find back during development there no way to do something good. Each developer has... ...is way to manage these changes before commit, but if he needs to commit he must keep a very easy way to check all the linked points he is modifying code and SVN don't help me directly for this. Trebly: But let us start with a simple case. What is the use of the comments in revision 31566? I began on this subject some month ago.
