need quick advice. I just did an attempt to upgrade my tiki3 to tiki6. No db problems but major text encoding problems in tiki6 version. Can I just keep using tiki3 with the upgraded to tiki6 db??? It seems to work

v3 (gilb.com) seems to work fine, so I was wandering if I should revert to the db backup (from before the upgrade) or if I could just keep using the new one on the tiki 3  site

the encoding was UTF-8 Unicode (utf8) before (when the upgrade started as a 3.x)

im back! are you saying that there should be no problem continuing to use the db as it is. It seems to work.
kaiiak: most changes wouldn't prevent that, but it's unlikely that it's safe with so many changes as there were from 3 to 6.

there are 3 places where the encoding is set (for 3 different things)
you might have utf-8 in one place (db tables, but maybe not at the db collation, or the table content)
fyi, no one that followed those steps once (in the scenario described in the doc page) reported any further issue with characters and encoding, afaik
I have to go, cheers, and report back through the tikiwiki-devel list if needed in case you still get issues with encoding after following those steps once

I never understood why you created tiki-export_tracker_ajax .. and not only suppress the line generation via smarty in the other export
because export leaks like a sieve and crashes out of memory after (say) 100,000 records
so the ajax one "starts again" every once in a while
but there is no special display of thing like date...
so I will have to add a $smarty->fetch('tracker_item_field_value.tpl');
it also gives you a progress bar instead of just locking up for 5 to 10 minutes...

I'm getting a  system error on trunk when I try and save a page - the msg says:

The query was:

The built query was likely:
