Yonixxx: the problem you talked about earlier with unwanted page initialization happened to me when i have set custom Group homepages but they didn't exist... Tiki got confused and recreated them named as random hashes with the content of the default HomePage
Hey Luciash thanks i figure this out ealier. In my case, the Homepage wasn't specified no more in the wiki admin so one was recreated (tiki initialization) everytime i edited it. :)

wiki paragraph formatting is already "off". In the carousel case "there's some Quote : "oddities/uniqueness" about the tiki implementation" in the carousel control can (or are) displayed within the div of the pictures. In the Tiki implementation it is outside of the div and the space is preserved even if you hide all the controls.

ricks99, a problem with encoding in the db, from before, is not just whether the text displays ok in Tiki, but if you want to get the text from the db outside of Tiki. Then the text can be garbage if some character set setting is wrong.
for example, to edit the text in phpmyadmin. Also I'm not sure about dumps and restores, or dumps and other uses of the text.
Yonixxx: btw, sometimes inserting code in Custom CSS needs !important; to override Tiki CSS (which comes later in the generated code)
I know that trying to display/edit Japanese text from Tiki using phpmyadmin didn't work before. I haven't tried recently.

Hmm, zukakakina has utf_general_ci connection collation, utf-8 mysql charset, and utf_general_ci table collation, and japanese text is garbage in phpmyadmin edit view. Are these settings wrong?

In Opera, "view encoding" shows the phpmyadmin page is set to "auto" and I set it to "utf-8" but it doesn't make a difference in the Japanese text display.
