nami: Hello everybody.I have a question: Is it possible to import MS word documents or HTML files that are located on my workstation as a wiki page?i can only find the option to add it as a download. :(
JoernOtt: Nami, you can allow HTML inside a wiki page
and then just copy/paste
I just wanted to point you to http://tiki.org/TikiWikifier, but tiki.org seems to be down at the moment (looks like an update going on or a database connection gone)
***: Wilkins has joined #tikiwiki
nami: The problem is that I have a page with pictures and if i copy/paste it into the editor there is just the text from the html and not the pictures
JoernOtt: Well, the pictures must be uploaded separately anyways, if you look at the HTML code, there is no image data in it, but an URL from which to load the images
so, there is no seamless transition from Word documents into any web environment
Of course, if you don't have one document but a lot of them, you could write some macro to automate the process
nami: and it's also not possible to use the "import HTML" function?
JoernOtt: well, the import HTML should work
but the HTML does not contain any images
the Wikifier is a service offered on the tiki.org site. It transforms HTML into the Wiki syntax
please don't mix them
Read http://doc.tiki.org/HTML+Pages for more info on HTML
nami: I guess the only possibility to import my local stored HTML file to a server and import it
right?

robertplummer: fabricius: say you have a complex math problem that you want to give to the world, a proof.
Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Page Selector field not stored in tracker via tracker plugin - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=42527
fabricius: ok ...
robertplummer: fabricius: And there are a bunch of sites that see your math problem, and are like, man I need to reference that in my page!
fabricius: But what happens when you find an error in it?
fabricius: now you have a bunch of erroneous math floating around.
But what if those sites linked to your content?
fabricius: They would be updated when you update your content.
fabricius: ah
thought this way, yes
robertplummer: fabricius: Or what if you had an ad system? And you served random ads?
or schedule
or lunch menu
fabricius: but would the html-linked / feeded content be shown in the other sites as kind of original content
robertplummer: or latest blog post
Right
fabricius: letÅ› say, you have some content and feed it
robertplummer: fabricius: THe other sites can display your content
fabricius: I want to include that in my site, as it was written in my site
so I just HTMLlink your feed
robertplummer: exactly.
fabricius: and calendars?
robertplummer: same thing,
Is there a plugin for it?
fabricius: :-D
yes, at least for the calendar list
robertplummer: If there is a plugin for it, if it can be seen in wiki syntax, it can be done.
fabricius: but if I would click on a calendar item on my site, I would be linked to your site!?
robertplummer: {HTMLFEED(name="my cal")}{cal_plugin}{HTMLFEED}
done
fabricius: this might be extremely useful for me
robertplummer: (Those aren't the right names)
fabricius: sure
robertplummer: fabricius: it is as simple as it can be, yet complicated.
fabricius: doesnot look like complicated for the user (admin)
robertplummer: fabricius: I'm just creating it for someone else, and when it was presented to me it was very complex, listed in all kinds of graphs etc.
But after I considered what we are actually doing, easy as pie.
Don't push whole pages around, pages are big, and 90% of the content is noise.
push parts of pages around, that has value.
fabricius: but it would not be possible to include the feeds in other systems?
other cms?
robertplummer: I see one problem for me for a certain usecase: I need a centrally maintained calendar for different tikisites
but if I would list the calendar-list-module feed and click on an itemlink, I would completely "move" (be linked) to the original website
right?
robertplummer: fabricius: The content that is fed is just html, tiki knows to parse wiki syntax to html.
so say you have 3 sites
1 = origin
2 = feeder + origin to site 3
site 3 doesn't need to know that site 2 is getting the content from site 1.
fabricius: sure
robertplummer: The wiki syntax will always be in site 1 and stay in site 1, everything after that point it is html that is rendered from parsed wiki syntax.
Is that what you mean?
fabricius: hmm
in my case it would be good, that the itemlinks - meaning the eventdescriptions ... would be shown in the sites 2 and 3 aswell
so literally feed the hole calendar, not only the module
THAT would be coool
I do not think, that would be easy
or?
robertplummer: Why feed site 1 to 2 and then from 2 to 3, just serve 1 to 2 and 3.
They all look to 1 to get content.
sylvieg: is it content or reference?
