fidel: hi - could it be that maketoc in 9.0b2 does not work in case of displaying numbers?
we tried all 3 options: yes, yes and force which is again yes
all 3 settings resulted in no number-prefixes in the toc
--
and is there a function to add maketoc to each new article automaticly?
i guess no - as i stupled upon a pretty old ticket/request from marclaporte asking for something similar

Hello I have a wiki page i created how do i make it the home screen?
fidel: not sure if you can define another page then HomePage as default page for all users - but how about just moving the content from page:WHATEVer to page:HOMEPAGE?
sounds like the easiest work-around
vmachine: ok i will try that... i kind of new so im still learning
fidel: vmachine: googling for 'tikiwiki define homepage' gave the following first hit - http://doc.tiki.org/Custom+Home
so now you have 2 options - hf
vmachine: Ok ive changed it.. thanks

polom!
I'm working on a 1.9.11 tiki (pretty nostalgic) tikiwiki website. :-)
fidel: Beestje: may i ask why you are using 1.9? ;)
Beestje: I first made that site in 2005, did a rebuild of it in 2008 :-)
hosting company sent the owner a mail that it's getting too big, so time for a makeover! ;-)
I just have a problem getting the pictures from the website...
they're in the folder allright, but the filenames are encoded.
any way I can restore the pictures to the original filenames so I don't have to click on each picture and do a save as individually ?
if it's just 100 pictures, that would be fine ... but over a 1000 pictures seems a complete waste of my time :-D
fidel: q: is there some kind of user-stats about activity of the user inside my tiki?
i.e. in mediawiki i was able to see the amount of edits per user
ok i found the statistics option

fidel: hi - as the doc.tiki page seems to run unstable as yesterday as well - short question: how can i produce quoted text?
i tried several ways i found in different docs - i.e. using 2 spaces / using {QUOTE} etc ...but it seems like none is working
what is the supposed way in a default install to quote text
i dont see an option in the gui-editor either
jonnyb: hi fidel - where doesn't {quote} work?
the one here looks ok: http://demo.tiki.org/9x
fidel: lemme doublecheck - i used uppercase letters only
lol
uppercase {QUOTE}bla{QUOTE} does not work
but: {quote}bla{quote} works
is that supposed to be like that?
jonnyb: think you might find {QUOTE()}bla{QUOTE} works (with brackets)
no, it wasn't really supposed to be like that but when it was changed to be consistent people complained it messed up old pages
fidel: why isnt there a real closing tag for quotes?
i would have expect something like {quote}bla{/quote}
oh that works aswell
puh - getting used to tiki synthax - coming from mediawiki - is kinda hard
jonnyb: is there any formating page with examples you can recommend?
i found several ones - different states - not ose was really almost complete . or what i was looking for at that moment
background: i am writing an formating example for our users right now - but to do that i need to get used to the synthax myself first hehe
jonnyb: have you seen: http://doc.tiki.org/wiki+syntax
fidel: well doc.tiki.org seems pretty unstable for me since at least 2 days
but gonna try it again
thanks oncew again
jonnyb: the help popup in the editor has all the main bits quite concisely - and if you use the plugin editor helpers (click the icons in the plugin help) then it gets the syntax right for you
fidel: one last question: how would you close up a quote tag?
{quote}bla{quote} results here in 2 quote icons
{quote}bla{/quote} results in: bla {/quote}
{quote()}bla{quote} results in 2 quote images as well
well using code then - does the job aswell ;)
Tiki|bot: Recent Bug: Tracker item: #4251 - - Freetags: feature requests for sorting and showing all tags - http://dev.tiki.org/tiki-view_tracker_item.php?trackerId=5&itemId=4251
jonnyb: sorry fidel - using "code"?
fidel: using {code}
as i seem unable to use {quote}/{quote()} or however it is used/called
jonnyb: i don't follow - thats a different plugin but should use the same syntax
fidel: which part should i explain again?
jonnyb: did you try using the plugin helper?
fidel: no - as i dont even know where this one is so far.
currently i am in the normal editing mode - trying to write an article
jonnyb: click the help icon on the toolbar (blue disc with a ? in)
fidel: but - ok - seems like i need to read up again whatever then
jonnyb: click the "plugin help" tab
fidel: i dont have that - might be theme based
jonnyb: type in quote into the filter or scroll down to is
fidel: jonnyb: thanks but i realize we are using way to different setups i guess
jonnyb: oh? should be on by default
fidel: gonna try to find a way
thanks anyways
jonnyb: guess you must have turned it off or removed it from the toolbar?
fidel: working on a v9b2 setup here
if so - my collegue
jonnyb: or you could copy the example on http://demo.tiki.org/9x
fidel: its just frustrating if you are messing aroud 15 minutes to write a quote
which should be done in seconds
jonnyb: {QUOTE()}blah blah{QUOTE} works fine for me on 9.x
yes, that's what the helper stuff is for - wonder where yours went!
fidel: {QUOT{QUOTE()}
~np~ __fett ~/np~
{QUOTE}
damn
mistypoed
{QUOTE()}
~np~ __fett ~/np~
{QUOTE}
does not fully work here - in my theory it should quote the non-interpreted wiki code
but seems like i am still misinterpreting
ah - again a typo - please ignore me ...i guess i got it
jacmoe: joined #tikiwiki
fidel: just one last question - which is for sure not answerable: why on earth is almost each wiki-project using another synthax? trac, mediawiki, tiki .... ;)
i get doku-wiki again is using another one hehe

RobertPlummerMob: jonnyb: Most of the fullscreen code was removed because it was just too complex for it to not be buggy.
jonnyb: but it worked mostly, now it's totally broken (in fact, just not written)
RobertPlummerMob: jonnyb: THe easy way to fix it was to incorporate a parent object that had a seperate css class and just force the contained objects to stretch.
not there?
as in someone removed the code?
jonnyb: looks like it to me
(you, i thought, no?)
bart__: joined #tikiwiki
RobertPlummerMob: Oh right, I removed the old method and generalized the method used in codemirror.
The end result was pretty solid if I remember right.
It was all broken in the old method between browsers.
jonnyb: was working fine in 5,6,7 & 8 (maybe not in some IE)
RobertPlummerMob: Testing...
It may have been working fine, but if it was I wouldn't have rewrote it using jQuery.
If I remember right you thought it was a good idea because the code was a rats nets.
jonnyb: but your version doesn't work, right?
RobertPlummerMob: I'm checking, I had cartograf installed, cleaning slate now.
I just got in, working remote today (from coffee shop), connection is a bit slow.
jonnyb: I could be wrong about you approving, it has been some time. Either way, I will fix quickly, should be something small.
jonnyb: fullscreen seems ok for me in http://demo.tiki.org/8x/tiki-editpage.php?page=dfgf
i know the code looked horrid - i wrote it :D
RobertPlummerMob: Before jQuery, those were the days.
jonnyb: i thought i used jquery - just badly ;)
actually it's the nightmare DOM in tiki that is was coping with - let's hope the new method is easily fixable
RobertPlummerMob: Looks like the .TextArea-fullscreen has been removed, easy fix.
Something is just overriding it's position absolute
jonnyb: yes, couldn't find any evidence of that class except in the js (eveer)

How is everyone feeling about a beta or release candidate for 9 sometime soon?
I will be committing a fix on the fullscreen issue in a few minutes, as soon as my connection allows. jonnyb, how is "Update issue from 8SVN to 9SVN or Trunk" looking?
jonnyb: thanks RobertPlummerMob - which "update issue" in particular?
RobertPlummerMob: Is there a possibility that 8 had more stored things that were html encoded?
jonnyb: That is the title of the thread.
Leu brought it up, some conversion issue.
It could quite possibly be that the is_html option isn't being set to true in all places it needs to be, thus turning < into <
Like modules, toc, etc.
jonnyb: could be - i thought he tried again and couldn't reproduce

marclaporte: Hope we can progress on Tiki9
fidel: q: do you guys have experience about possible slow-downs of tiki9? i am realizing my virtual server which is used to run tiki9 here is almost idle ram & cpu wise. But still the test-tiki-setup feels somehow slow if it comes to searching & loading pages
i've seen the major performance tab in the administration & enabled gzip support there
my feeling is that the title-completion while searching might eat a good part of my resources
any other experiences about slow downs - without seeing them in the server itself?
RobertPlummerMob: fidel: It is my experience that tiki 9 is a bit faster than 8.
fidel: ok
cant really tell - as i havent tested that much with v8 - and my test-scenario was my desktop. for v9 i am using a vm-server in our department
RobertPlummerMob: But there are a bunch of different ways to analyse that...]
fidel: any one you would suggest to go/test first?
RobertPlummerMob: I know when it comes to the parser that it will be faster, we don't do as much html encoding... Only when needed.
fidel: like focusing on apache itself at start? or checking general db -settings
RobertPlummerMob: fidel: I would say the upgrade process is going to be much slower depending on how many pages you have because we have changed encoding techniques.
fidel: or focusing on the settings tiki offers itself like cache/gzip etc
what do you mean by 'upgrading process'?
RobertPlummerMob: fidel: And we convert each existing page, and then historic pages when they are visited.
fidel: i am already on v9 now
RobertPlummerMob: Oh, well then no worries.
fidel: everything i mentioned from the last minutes was about v9
RobertPlummerMob: Jyhem_laptop: I hope to attend the meeting today, but I will see about time permitting.
fidel: 9 is going to be the most solid tiki yet, tons of refactoring and bug fixing to make it stable and efficient for LTS.
fidel: I would invite you to keep the latest svn of 9 installed and svn up often in a staging environment, finding bugs helps us make it much better for all.
fidel: k - right now we are on v9b2
have migrated our mediawiki content to it and just fiddling way to much with permissions (major reason we are jumping from mediawiki to tiki)
considering setting up another test-box with the svn-source
how often does the current snv-code tends to temporary be broken from your experience?
once a month, once a week, several times a week, several times a day? ;)
just to get a feeling

RobertPlummerMob: currently trying to fine since which commit
still working on demo.tiki.org/9x at revision 41992
RobertPlummerMob: This looks to be a problem with the new jquery ui, not sure why we upgraded that in 9.x with a freeze in place.
jonnyb: ?
jonnyb: did we? (i?)
since 41992? (seem recent)
RobertPlummerMob: r41835 perhaps?
jonnyb: last one i did was on 28 march
RobertPlummerMob: Or is that trunk only?
jonnyb: no, the externals still aren't locked on 9.x

I'm so tired of this stupid resize issue with sheet. Browsers and their stupid table parsers!

RobertPlummerMob: Have time to what?
jonnyb: fix the external lib revisions in 9.x?
Jyhem: hi guys
jonnyb: maybe put the ui one back to before that upgrade
changi: I don't think it's an external problem, because updating my local checkout at revision 41992 fix the problem

hi Jyhem
RobertPlummerMob: Right, let me check 41992 first.

Jyhem: hi changi
jonnyb: hi Jyhem too
Jyhem: hi jonnyb.
RobertPlummerMob: jonnyb: I would say now is not the time to go changing, just because it comes out later doesn't always mean it is more stable.
In the past I remember we did this for 6, and it delayed the release.
Jyhem: storm brewing here. the town has cancelled all music events they sponsor
RobertPlummerMob: wow
jonnyb: er, exactly - if they're "fixed" they won't change (or are you saying they are already?)
Jyhem: dunno, just clarifying meaning
RobertPlummerMob: no, no, you meantioned latest libs for 9.x, I thought you meant to upgrade. I will fix in their current place before release of 9.x in a few minutes.
jonnyb: sorry no, that release of 1.8 ui is the last one they're doing before 1.9 so i thought best to use it
