I just realised there are both libapache2-mod-fastcgi and libapache2-mod-fcgid
which is best ? amette: isn't mod-fcgid a rewrite of mod-fastcgi? like newer, better, faster? rinnan: amette: but of course. I fiddled with the admin-look and feel menu. Under the general layout tab (this was where I was playing with the logo on my site). Turns out I managed to choose "Never" as module zone visibility. Not a good idea ;) When I altered back to "only if module" everything worked fine. Just a case of messing with something I sisnt quite know
didnt.. amette: rinnan: aah, ok, thanks! :)
Jyhem: no, it doesn't seem to be that easy: http://blog.chty.org/post/2007/10/08/151-apache2-mod_fcgid-vs-mod_fastcgi
this seems to help: http://www.apachelounge.com/viewtopic.php?t=4385
I'd try mod_fastcgi as it seems to follow the FastCGI principle closer. Jyhem: amette: Well that's good news as it's what I have currently running :) It's just that http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-ubuntu-12.04-lts-apache2-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3-p4 says some software need fastcgi. Software I don't need :)
no, fcgi is the currently running one -: Jyhem looks up the links Jyhem: Yes, I need to try mod_fastcgi but not on the prod machine I install right now :-(
First link is from 2007 and I would not use performance comparisons from 2007. But second link is pretty convincing amette: yup, I think so, too
what is the "correct" way to add some javascript to my tiki? thanks to <x>, I can only come up with editing templates!? Is that really the correct way? Jyhem: html plugin? amette: and then use that in a module that I put in the topbar and hide it?

i just installed a tiki and when i try to register a new user i get the following error showing up ____ Error(s) Clear errors Required features: feature_trackers, feature_ajax, wikiplugin_tracker. If you do not have the privileges to activate these features, ask the site administrator.
I wanted to get it off the screan, so i play around with the function to report errors in general preferences..... now this option is vanish from site too
how can i make this error disapear from new user registration? amette: xi_: It looks like you configured to use user trackers for additional information but got it wrong somehow? look for that feature and disable it pdxmaux: joined #tikiwiki xi_: I dont know how to look for it... :-( Im totally new to tiki vmachine1: joined #tikiwiki xi_: Actually i was very surprised that the instalation went on without any problem, very happy about it. Obviously, nobody uses it (no mention in any tutorials, apart fro stressing it's optional). So I won't either :) jonnyb: sorry - not been there... amette_: Jyhem: a challenge password is usually not needed - it can be used by the certification authority to authenticate you amette: to be more precise: it will be embedded in the CSR which basically only the CA knows (and you, since you embedded it there), so the CA can ask you for the challenge password to know that you are the one who sent the CSR luciash: amette: yes, external script linking goes to head, actual script code can go in the custom JS part amette: cool, thanks bro :) Jyhem: amette: thanks. hi, I need a little help with a tiki issue. i keep getting the following error message for new user register ---- errorsError(s) Clear errors Required features: feature_trackers, feature_ajax, wikiplugin_tracker. If you do not have the privileges to activate these features, ask the site administrator. amette: well, if you didn't follow my previous advice, why not try enabling those features? xi_: Hi Amette, i did not see your advice, my internet kick me out of teh chat
how can i enable thise features? amette: Admin->Features xi_: ok i follow you
which features should i enable now? amette: and well, you should also just use the search function in the admin panel
the error message told you
but honestly, if you are so lost, my previous advice is easier to try: 14:11 < amette> xi_: It looks like you configured to use user trackers for additional information but got it wrong somehow? look for that feature and disable it xi_: i dont see any of those features there
i have global features ...
Wiki File Gallery Blog Articles Forums Polls Spreadsheet Calendar Newsletters Search
that are the only features i see here from those ones , wiki, blog, file gallery, articles, polls and search are enable amette: I'm sorry xi_, but I don't have the time to walk you through everything click by click, please try to familiarize yourself with the Tiki administration a bit. Try to get the basics at least.
A very good starting point is: http://twbasics.tikiforsmarties.com/HomePage
And once you got how Tiki works, http://doc.tiki.org is an invaluable resource.
I suggest you install a fresh Tiki as you seem to have done some quite weird configuration already to get the error you are having. xi_: please, tell me, should i enable all the features i have available, to make that error disapear?
ok i will do all from begin
now the question is,.. because i choose at the configuration to disable the install, how can i make it work again. if i upload the install file again would that be sufficient?
the install file or any other tile necessary? in place of uploading all the files again? amette: xi_: I'm hesitating a lot to answer you, but I just can't be that cruel - so here is a hint: READ! Read what the installer tells you! xi_: ok now that you gave me a tip on how cruel you can be, please show me! I like to see how cruel people can be
Im curious about what is burning inside you to tell me :-) amette: all: I suppose the check for ImageMagick has been dropped because it is now integrated in PHP? I don't even find a USE flag in Gentoo for compiling it in (or not). So I suppose ImageMagick is always there and we don't need to check for it in tiki-check.php ? xi_: Ok Amette, i followed your advice and READ...i start a new installation. my excuses for the dummy questions but i only spend till now around 3 hours with tiki. thanks marclaporte: amette: the focus was on GD
but if it's an easy check, I suggest to add
Did we ever check for ImageMagick?
I think ImageMagick permitted a few more things like rotating an image amette: marclaporte: yes, I remember seeing the installer doing a check for GD and ImageMagick - but apparantly the latter isn't done by the installer any more - the check seems quite useless as ImageMagick is integrated with PHP since lost-the-page-where-I-found-the-version
I might add it as it is not too difficult, but I really don't know how useful it is. marclaporte: are you sure? http://www.php.net/manual/en/imagick.installation.php This » PECL extension is not bundled with PHP. amette: marclaporte: aah, yes, there is a pecl-imagick package in Gentoo... so why don't we check for it in the installer any more?
ok, will add the check, but we should probably think of dependencies between checks at some point... for now I will just explain that there is the GD alternative. marclaporte: ok CIA-99: tikiwiki: 03lphuberdeau * r42947 10/trunk/lib/ (3 files in 3 dirs): [FIX] Item cloning data load
