crocket | tiki wiki has a bug regarding WYSIWYG editor, and the bug is explained on http://pastebin.com/s7CqaEzQ

crocket: how are you progressing? | [01:15] |
crocket | marclaporte, tiki wiki has a bug regarding WYSIWYG editor, and the bug is explained on http://pastebin.com/s7CqaEzQ
Test it on http://demo.tiki.org I use tiki wiki 9. Do I need to turn on the experimental feature to remove the bug? "Use Wiki syntax in WYSIWYG" is an experimental feature. I'm not sure if I should turn it on. Should I stick to one of Wiki or WYSIWYG mode? | [01:16] |
luciash | do not turn it on unless you want save problems | [01:18] |
crocket | ok
So I should either use either Wiki or WYSIWYG mode for one page. I should use either Wiki or WYSIWYG mode for one page. | [01:19] |
luciash | let me quicky quick check your problem on pastebin | [01:20] |
crocket | Why can't an anoymous user use WYSIWYG editor?
anonymous | [01:20] |
luciash | permission ? | [01:21] |
Tiki-KGB | tikiwiki 03fmg-sf r43834 10branches/10.x/permissioncheck/functions.inc.php
tikiwiki [FIX] link customized request: Tiki root may differ from document root | [01:22] |
luciash | crocket: it seems to work on http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-index.php?page=HomePage | [01:24] |
crocket | luciash, Switch between wiki and WYSIWYG mode.
You'll see that the simplebox is gone. Why can't I paste a sequence of dashes properly? Plus :S is converted to a smiley. OK I turned off smiley. luciash, Do you know why a sequence of dashes are pasted weirdly into WYSIWYG editor? | [01:25] |
refizul | crocket: are they transformed into an html entity for one longer line? | [01:31] |
crocket | ?????
one longer line? refizul, luciash : paste http://pastebin.com/skmAadRT into your WYSIWYG editor. You'll see what's weird. | [01:31] |
refizul | something like "--" goes to − or so | [01:32] |
luciash | alternatively u can use BOX plugin, see: http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-index.php?page=HomePage | [01:33] |
crocket | What the hell | [01:33] |
refizul | I saw this behaviour at WordPress a few days ago, annoying
I couldn't close HTML comment | [01:33] |
crocket | If I turn off "Content is parsed like wiki page", I can't even use WISIWYG editor.
refizul, It has to be fully WYSIWYG. | [01:33] |
luciash | crocket: for anonymous edit you need to allow can modify categories permission also if you use categories | [01:35] |
crocket | luciash, What about anonymous WYSIWYG editor? | [01:35] |
luciash | crocket: and can swicth to wysiwyg perm too
see http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-index.php?page=HomePage | [01:35] |
crocket | Where can I set global permissions? | [01:36] |
luciash | crocket: sequence of dashes means -- = ndash or --text-- strikethrough, so you need to put it in ~np~...~/np~ or CODE plugin block or HTML plugin
Admin > Permissions via menu | [01:37] |
crocket | luciash, So I can't paste a sequence of dashes in WYSIWYG editor?
Unforunately, I don't have Permissions in Admin panel. luciash, Is a simplebox preserved after switching between wiki and WYSIWYG mode? Well The permissions are available in Admin>Security | [01:45] |
luciash | it is not in admin panel but in admin menu
Admin > Permissions | [02:00] |
crocket | luciash, ?? | [02:01] |
luciash | it is in the menu | [02:01] |
crocket | luciash, It's in quick admin menu. | [02:01] |
luciash | submenu item | [02:01] |
crocket | luciash, So how do I paste a sequence of dashes into WYSIWYG editor? | [02:03] |
luciash | simplebox is vulnerable to edit mode switching, better use the BOX plugin syntax - the result is a box | [02:03] |
crocket | luciash, How do I put a box plugin in WYSIWYG editor?
oops | [02:04] |
luciash | if u need sequence of dashes in plain text try to surround it by ~np~--~/np~ | [02:05] |
crocket | luciash, The purpose is to make Wiki editor unneccesary and make it easier for people to use tiki.
luciash, Do I need to surround a sequence of dashes in ~np~ and ~/np~ in WYSIWYG editor? | [02:05] |
luciash | i understand, it is far from perfect (the wysiwyg mode)
crocket: i do not know, just tried there and it works: http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-index.php?page=HomePage try there without np it works gotta go, bbl | [02:05] |
crocket | luciash, no | [02:16] |

The "Insert module" dialog doesn't have "box". | [02:28] |

God marclaporte, I can't paste http://pastebin.com/XxnYMady properly in tiki. In either wiki or WYSIWYG mode, it's impossible. It seems ~pre~ ~/pre~ have to surround. marclaporte, I have to surround it with ~pre~~np~ and ~/np~~/pre~. People in this company wouldn't want to learn those things. man marclaporte, how far is tiki from obtaining a stable WYSIWYG editor? | [02:29] |

marclaporte | crocket: If you completely avoid wiki syntax, then, it's as stable as CK Editor
luatdo: in 10.x? luatdo: lphuberdeau is good person to ask this for when he comes back on IRC crocket: WYSIWYG but that maintains wiki syntax is best direction IMO because HTML becomes to messy crocket: In a few days, you'll be able to test what RobertPlummer is working on, and this will change the rules | [02:52] |

crocket | marclaporte, The experimental feature?
Somebody in this channel said there would be save problems with that feature. | [03:20] |
marclaporte | I suggest you try it
The whole WYSWIYG is experimental :-) The trick is to restrict what you do with it IMO, the default of CKeditor has too many tools, and each is something that can go wrong | [03:27] |
crocket | marclaporte, Have you tested moinmoin's WYSIWYG editor? | [03:28] |
marclaporte | not in a long long time
tiki-admin_toolbars.php is where you can remove tools crocket: is it good? heh, maybe some good news: http://ckeditor.com/ckeditor-4-beta http://nightly-v4.ckeditor.com/3753/samples/inlineall.html They are working hard! https://github.com/ckeditor/ckeditor-dev/commits/master crocket: so I see moinmoin has wiki and visual mode (that maintains wiki syntax) so they don't pollute the page with HTML (This is best approach IMO) crocket: I set Use Wiki syntax in WYSIWYG on demo.tiki.org/9x/ luatdo: when you have a new topic for the mailing list, please start a new thread with a descriptive title | [03:30] |

marclaporte, I don't know how you tested that. | [05:11] |

how do you reverse a change to the <header>s? my websiiiite is now blank :/ what table holds the header data? I can edit the DB directly. tiki_preferences I see | [05:14] |
marclaporte | crocket: Can switch between wiki and WYSIWYG modes while editing (tiki_p_edit_switch_mode) | [05:19] |
kstingel | polom | [05:24] |
EO_ | ugh, wtf. updated the DB and the web server is still sending the old header.
<script type="text/javascript" src="/MathJax/MathJax.js?config=TeX-AMS-MML_SVG-full" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="/d3/d3.v2.js" /> apparently terminating lines like that in the header is not good? | [05:25] |
marclaporte | EO_: http://www.smarty.net/docs/en/language.function.literal.tpl | [05:34] |
EO_ | marclaporte: the header field is always treated literally, no? it's not the wiki section...
oh, this is lower level escapaing than smarty | [05:35] |
kstingel | what file would I need to edit (replace with own) to get Tiki to use Unicode Entities instead of HTML entities when outputting content? | [05:36] |
EO_ | err than wiki
marclaporte: good tip, but in this case, these are script references. So that's a whole nother HTTP call, and won't even be intercepted by smarty/tiki. No need to escape. | [05:36] |
marclaporte | can you demonstrate problem on demo.tiki.org ? | [05:38] |
kstingel | ... Entities like "®" will not validate as "polyglot" or XHTML (required for ePub writer script)
marclaporte: me, or EO_? | [05:38] |
marclaporte | EO_: both :;-)
http://doc.tiki.org/MathJax worked... | [05:39] |
EO_ | marclaporte: MathJax works fine. It's the 2nd one I added which killed stuff. For some reason.
marclaporte: but right now my web host is holding a MySQL query cache that is out of date. it's still serving the old header data :/ | [05:40] |
kstingel | I can't ... because I don't have anything to demonstrate yet ... I'm stepping through my (immediate) validation issues manually | [05:41] |
marclaporte | EO_: can you explain what you will do with https://github.com/mbostock/d3 ? | [05:42] |
EO_ | marclaporte: I'm trying to find a good function graphing package. I'm not sure if D3 is it, but I was gonna try it out.
I need to graph 2 functions on 1 graph, "y=x" and "y=1/((1/x)+(1/5000))" | [05:42] |
crocket | marclaporte, I don't see that permission under wiki permissions.
ok It's a tiki permission. marclaporte, A simple box is lost during switch between WYSIWYG and wiki mode. | [05:44] |
EO_ | marclaporte: tiki needs a command-line or fail-safe-URL "reverse the last action" button =) | [05:47] |
marclaporte | EO_: keep me in the loop about d3 I think we should have native Tiki solution for this | [05:48] |
EO_ | marclaporte: do you know of any native/better supported/more official/more popular function graphing modules? I'm publishing some engineering work and have had to write code to serve circuits in SVG properly, and pulled in that MathJax JS for the mathematical expressions....now this graphing this is the next challenge. | [05:49] |
marclaporte | EO_: https://dev.tiki.org/Visualization | [05:49] |
EO_ | k wtf. admins flushed tables, but tiki is still serving the old content.
marclaporte: is there some internal DB cache in PHP you guys are using? does apache need to be restarted? | [05:50] |
marclaporte | EO_: run php installer/shell.php | [05:51] |
EO_ | what did THAt do
this better not have reset the DB well, it fixed it wtf did I just do =) | [05:51] |
marclaporte | it upgrades the DB, if needed, and it clears all cache | [05:52] |

marclaporte | yes | [05:56] |
EO_ | EO_ fears adding d3.v2.js again to the headers. | [05:56] |
marclaporte | Smarty template cache, and some in temp | [05:56] |
EO_ | HA!
I just broke demo.tiki.org :) http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-index.php cheggit it's that damn /> terminator on the script line! you MUST use <script></script> | [05:59] |
marclaporte | "Tiki needs a command-line or fail-safe-URL "reverse the last action" button =)" http://dev.tiki.org/Recovery is what I have in mind for that, but for now, you can re-run tiki-install.php which lets you (re)set some prefs, and it also clears the caches at the last step | [06:05] |
EO_ | marclaporte: good to see its on the drawing map. Just be sure to ignore any HTML header preferences the user might have set.
marclaporte: in other news, can I give you SVG plugin code? | [06:07] |
marclaporte | marclaporte will fix demo.tiki.org/9x/
http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-install.php?install_step=6&lang=en is not letting me fix | [06:08] |
EO_ | EO_ did not change DB settings | [06:13] |
marclaporte | EO_: yes, please share SVG code | [06:13] |
EO_ | doesn't the demo reset automatically every hour?
marclaporte: it's not very good code, but it's still more useful (to me) than what was there before. :q woops marclaporte: http://pastebin.com/SjS3jX4p <-- it'll expire in 1 hour it does server-side inlining and fixes common SVG problems (such as not setting a viewBox) on the fly it also allows for scaling of the images it would be better if it supported attId= and friends, and didn't use HTTP for getting local files marclaporte: plz do not credit me / my nick with anything. totally anonymous submission to you. =) | [06:13] |
marclaporte | hehe
EO_: Did you play with doc.tiki.org/Draw ? | [06:18] |

the common product of statistics is charts, not graphs :/ oh it has a plot() done. good. =) | [06:32] |

crocket | marclaporte, Is it removed in 10.x? | [06:41] |
marclaporte | There is also an HTML pages feature that should be deprecated
no, still there. It's tough to remove these things. Need upgrade path and no took the time EO_: when you have custom CSS and JS, you can put in respective dedicated spots in admin panel | [06:41] |
crocket | marclaporte, And it's not easy to discover the fact with documentation.
You should focus on documentation if upgrade is not easy. | [06:43] |
marclaporte | crocket: agreed
step 1 : mark feature as deprecated for a few versions to give people the time to stop using step 2: after an LTS, remove it | [06:43] |
EO_ | > curve(1*x, -2, 2)
> curve(x, -2, 2) Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : could not find function "x" R is weird the 1st curve() works, the 2nd does not | [06:45] |
crocket | marclaporte, It's a good idead to display a deprecated mark beside each deprecated feature in admin panel.
marclaporte, Do you know where is the option for table of contents for each wiki page? | [06:47] |
marclaporte | {maketoc}

curve(y<-x, -2, 2) <-- and that's how you plot just f(x)=x err if you get rid of the minus sign :) wait crap no, that's an arrow. keep as is | [07:05] |
crocket | marclaporte, How can I put that module in every page? | [07:06] |
EO_ | EO_ is new @ this | [07:06] |
marclaporte | crocket: you can't put in every page, but you can put in a module, which appears all the time
There is maybe a pref to make tocs always appear.. | [07:09] |
crocket | marclaporte, Maybe there should be a header for every page.
And even footer? | [07:09] |
kstingel | where do I find the snippet that controls external links? ... need to make a minor edit to achieve validation ... 'title' and 'alt' text need to different -- I achieved this by simply removing the brackets on one of them

tikiwiki Copying over all 'home page' relevant prefs to the navigation section of the admin panel. It is quite confusing because there are two features for 'custom home page', one that lets you pick any URL and one which sends you to tiki-custom_home.php (which could very be just a URL) Thank you to 'crocket' for very relevant questions on IRC. I don't like/get why we have all tikiwikithese prefs. It could all be simplifed to one URL box and like in menus, if it's in ((wikidestination)) format, Tiki knows it's a wiki page for cleanURLs and page rename handling, like for menus | [07:20] |
EO_ | crocket: don't you wanna quote the levels value? | [07:20] |

Gotta support SVG generation. Gotta support Unicode. Would be nice if the graphs were interactive. Gotta be able to label both vertical axes. gnuplot almost seems like a better candidate here. | [09:58] |

anyone around? hi refizul, I do mean batch upload you add and zip file and click the option unzip zip files | [17:54] |
Bsfez | joined #tikiwiki | [18:01] |
alzoo | if I add screenshots that a save with filenames that are in order 01,02,03,04, etc, zip them and add them to a gallery, they are unzipped and given a fileID at random, thus instead of simply incrementing the file ID by typing in the number while editing the page, I have to manually click on the insert file button to find the next in sequence screenshot, very time consuming...
in other words the allocation if the fileID (which is in order) is not applied in order relative to the files (which are saved in order) in the zip file. how can this be configured to do so. I can add 7 at a time in order in the image galleries, however this feature is being done away with.. | [18:01] |
