right now, since the weekend, I am facing the difficulties of making Tiki responsive
as always jonnyb, the devil is in the detail(s)
I hate that job and I love it the same time .. pulling me deeper and deeper into bits and bytes arildb: joined #tikiwiki fabricius: not yet, that I "think" code, but somehow in some point of view, I start to understand, how you coders think and understand the code .. seems to be some kind of language
:-D
I am still struggling with css and with js integration and that stuff, but really, for each thing I learn, I find three new things to write on the "have to learn next list".
after getting a simple basic responsible menu running, now I "lost" a few media queries, which until yesterday evening made the left and right column modui "moving" smoothely under the central content zone
.. /s/modui/module zones/ jonnyb: think that's a general Monday thing :) i'm beginning to wish now i hadn't started refactoring how preview works... :( amette_: my monday goes quite fine... but I started getting into work yesterday already... ;) fabricius: yes, it is like feeling .. eeeeergsss amette_: hi fabricius btw :) fabricius: hi amette_ amette_: I have an interesting one: Twitter integration is broken, because Twitter shut down their API v1 and only v1.1 is available any more. This means upgrading Zend library and fixing some code that uses it. Where and how to commit?!?
I wouldn't want to mess around with library changes in an LTS, but the feature is obviously broken.
The needed Zend library is in trunk (maybe even earlier) already, so that's quite simple.
But how about LTS? fabricius: jonnyb and amette_ , may I show you a little site, which I started to create as concept of proof and development area for me and anybody who likes in respect of bootstrap integration jonnyb: sure fabricius: how essential is the twitter feature? I think, once good things work, we should have priority to prevent regressions, even if it means to mess around with library changes in LTS amette_: ah, hang on 9.x is in Quality Team mode and 6.x doesn't have the feature afaik...
... so I could fix it in 9.x still even though there is a library change? fabricius: the site is in a quite eeeearly veeery basic state: http://bootstrap.wiki4.me jonnyb: i don't think we can change something like Zend in 9.x now amette: figured so
Should we at least put some note somewhere that the feature is broken and people should upgrade?
as e.g. in the admin panel? bit stoopid for merges, but... jonnyb: yes, that would be good
(do we have a twitter "feature"?) fabricius: I would not vote for or against this, as I cannot assess such thing, not bing coder like you amette: Admin -> Social Networks -> Twitter fabricius: yep, we have twitter and facbook jonnyb: right - have tried the Facebook one (many times) but never got it working amette: We have a "feature" 'Social Networks' and preferences for Twitter fabricius: facebook I did never get running, cause their code for the API never reaches me and all my phonenumbers (they pretend) would be used before
each phone number only one time amette: got Facebook working, but it was a pain indeed jonnyb: has anyone really got either of these working properly? the both seemed to be half finished features to me fabricius: actually sometimes 0 time and not all networks jonnyb: :) fabricius: and no support to call amette: Twitter works nicely for me - though I mainly use the module to get timelines...
... the "tweet from shoutbox" also worked for me.
Didn't test other things. fabricius: The feature would make sense, once it works .. facebook aswell, for ex for ngos, who could do multiple posts at the same time arildb: joined #tikiwiki fabricius: but is seems to be very hard - a mystery, to get the right facebook API
a
or one at all
ahhhh .. I just recently did read in a blog of a social developer, who works for facebook since a few month ... I could write him a message on his blog in the comments :-))))))
ok, should not
amette, jonnyb tell me, if you like the site .. I'd like to hook it onto the community sites, for that anybody who wants could collaborate on it without extra registration amette: if I get this right, then 12.x is to be branched soon, right? The only things currently being developed are 9.x and 11.x(trunk), so I'll fix that as soon as possible in trunk (which has the right zend lib) and be done. Right? fabricius: hmm not completely ... 11 is not (trunk) but 11 and pre 12 is trunk - so committing in trunk already needed backport to trunk, if there is not an automatical thingi running jonnyb: it depends what the zend upgrade is - if it's to Zend 2 i believe it's not going to happen fabricius: is there an automattical thingi? automerge or so?
ahh jonnyb: 11 is still being auto-merged to trunk, yes
trunk == tiki 12 fabricius: Zend 2 in Tiki 12
yes, trunk == Tiki 12 - this way I see it aswell amette: right, my bad, 11.x has of course been branched already
the needed zend is 1.something - the one in trunk is fine jonnyb: 11.0 is latest release amette: just checking 11.0
ok, the zend in 11.x is new enough jonnyb: joined #tikiwiki amette: so I'll fix it in there and it gets merged into trunk

need to repair and to buy a big screen aswell
ahh amette - I see it now
good to know - I'll add this to "issues"
though about making a form "issues" and a form "nice to have"
I am sure, bootstrap integration will rise up a lot of different issues and out there are a lot of MIT licenced nice jquery plugins
stuff like responsive slideshows for example
amette: did you mean the login_link_popup, or the poppedup box? amette: I meant the popup when clicking on the link - the basic concept of it - it's just like what I showed in bcn on soundcloud - the way it should be! :) fabricius: ah the behaviour - somebody made that for 10 or 11 ... we have it since a while
yes; in the last month I was thinking about you and our discussion frequently, when I logged in to a Tiki 11 or 12 amette: ah, didn't know that - still mostly on 9.x everywhere fabricius: I though you have been aware of that amette: that's very cool! :)
nope, not really, just recently digging into code again fabricius: I beg you pardon - if I reconed, I would have told you amette: cheers, mate :) fabricius: what do you think about the site I show you? do you think, that looks like a possibly useful tool for the bootstrap integration, or more like a personal playground? amette: to be honest: I can't really tell much about that - I know too little about bootstrap. :-| fabricius: I mean there is a whole server account with access for trusted users ... already gave Marc the credentials
yeahh that is one of the problems
I see it, I hear about it, but trying to use it, I see it SEEMS to be awesome, but kind of MYSTIC or MYSTERIOUS
kind of hard to find real tutorials, which are only tutorial pretending advertisement demos
mostly demo-microsites
even the often referred Twitter documentation and some Twitter references on github are closed in the actual phase of development
so I am digging around and put everything on that place and I offer everybody from the Tiki com, to do the same, if interested in Bootstrap
just found out a bit about the Twitter js components
may idea is, that it can be kind of a temporary community-sub-site and the final results the committed to doc.t.o (and to themes.t.o, if not merged with doc.t.o)
what do you think? amette: Why not stick to our workflow and commit to svn so that everyone can read/learn/improve it? fabricius: oh yes, I am not thinking about changing that amette: I'll have to run now.. late already...

no way to choose a class in object_link ? jonnyb: hi Jyhem_ Jyhem_: hi jonnyb jonnyb: doesn't look like it from the source
guess you could add a param (if you're feeling brave ;) ) Jyhem_: I'm trying to build a nice clean template for once, using {object_link } instead of building it out of html and I'm surprised nobody needed that
would that be a class param or a _class param ? What would look logical to you ?
frankly, the coding part looks straightforward (famous last words) jonnyb: why do you need to give it a class? maybe there's a better way? Jyhem_: Because that class is already in our CSS, which would then not need to be adapted to the new template
We already have a custom articles template, with matching CSS, and I suggested to replicate that with wiki listpages. Ideally, without redoing the CSS jonnyb: fair enough, but i'd have thought a bit of css is easier than adding params to something like that ;)
need a break - that preview thing was hard!
mbbl Jyhem_: c ya
and you are right: smarty_function_object_link is too complicated: the real classes are set in smarty_function_object_link_default :-(

But 574497 bytes is less than what is available 201326592, so how come the error? Jyhem_: marclaporte: the 574497 bytes are just the extra drop which make the 201326592 bytes jug overflow

Some bits of training, how to reliably get JS files integrated and activated and some hints how to assess the most common error messages. marclaporte: joined #tikiwiki fabricius: There are different possibilities to integrate third party JavaScript and Jquery plugins into Tiki (or into HTML), like puuting it intothe custom javascript zone in admin->look or use a wikiplugin or create a custom module etc.
