arildb:-)
marclaporte: I found a problem i draw. Doesn't work properly. Added it in the bugtracker.
Otherwise, it's easy to add the "fancy" features now. ... makes Tiki kind of like a new product. (I never used profiles much)
[01:42]
marclaporte:-) [01:56]
arildbElFinder is awsome! I love it
In the admin wizard,if Elfinder is selected, all dependencies are enable and the finder view is set as the default file gallery view. Hope this is OK. Enable drag & drop for the user, but will overwrite the default view (for those not wantng Elfinder)
[01:59]
marclaportehow far to have elFinder as the default interface? [02:05]
arildbit is now, if you select Elfinder in the admin wizard. So, easy to activate now. Should also make it easy to evaluate...I assume lots more people will actually try it. [02:06]
marclaporteDoes it deserver to be experimental? [02:06]
arildbI have not used it much. So, I really cannot say, but so far...no problems
Now it's easy to test. This decision can be made later, or?
[02:07]
marclaportesure, no rush
I think in Tiki13, the old interface should be ripped out and we converge all efforts on elFinder
[02:11]
arildbYes, I tend to agree. This Elfinder is so much better
Though maybe 13 is too early to remove it
Elfinder should get some runtime first

arildbHi jonnyb ... back from the high north? [12:42]
jonnybhi arildb - yes, deep south at about 51º now :)
almost equatorial!
[12:43]
arildbhopefully a little warmer [12:44]
jonnybyes indeed - high of 21c here today apparently
been struggling to keep up with your commits recently, been working hard! thanks :)
am now trying out the new wizard for the first time... will send feedback to the dev list
[12:45]
arildbthanks [12:49]
jonnybjust wondering why "Full Wysiwyg Editor is optional" seems to be part of "HTML mode" - is that intentional? [12:51]
xavihi jonny@irc, welcome back! :-)
hi arildb
[12:52]
jonnybhi xavi
how's the leg?
[12:52]
xavixavi houseworking (aside of tiki) right now
leg is doing fine, thanks :-) (after 2 h of exercise every morning)
[12:52]
arildb"Full Wysiwyg Editor is optional" ... yes, I added it to HTML when the text editor is wanted...though not good to combine. For wiki format, it's always optional...or? ... if not Wysiwyg is not selected. [12:54]
jonnybsurely the optionality for wysiwyg isn't dependent on the format of the page?
the toolbar button depends on that pref, afaik
not on wysiwyg_htmltowiki
[12:55]
arildbNo, the wizard attempt to make the setup as "good as possible". So, it's only the wizard display [12:56]
jonnyboh right, you've made it set it if you pick "compatible" - hmmm...
just trying to work out how it all works - as lphuberdeau said, shame it's not done with services... :(
[12:56]
arildbServices add another element that may fail. As long as the wizard is hooked up to the login process, avoiding them may be better. The "same" code (user wizard) can be wrapped in a service, if needed. [12:59]
jonnybdo services fail for you? i've not seen that... (as long as js is enabled i guess)
feature_fullscreen isn't a text area thing, it's a wiki page feature i think
[13:00]
arildbNo services work well, but still an extra element [13:01]
rodrigoprimojoined #tikiwiki [13:02]
jonnybin a similar way feature_categories is not a wiki feature - applies to anything
as does jCapture
[13:03]
arildbYes, but structures have a categorize option. To "process" it, the category setting should be known. Thus categories moved up to same level as structures [13:04]
jonnybi guess i should do a reply via email with all this... [13:04]
arildbjCapture ... added there in my initial test page. STill there. Should be somewhere, I think [13:04]
jonnybbut i think that is misleading, and not applicable to all installation types [13:04]
arildbMaybe a more general question about installation "type" can be made earier in the wizard. [13:05]
jonnybalso 'm wondering why auto TOC is there twice, and even gets it's own page for just one input (i know it's your baby ;) ) [13:05]
arildbThe wizard layout is ...first main page...then detail page afterwards. Opened if main feature is selected
This way the details can also be enetered. The user is only asked for details about main features that are enabled
[13:06]
jonnybok, i just got to the categories page [13:07]
arildbno prefs there, but a details page, which guides the user to where it is configures [13:07]
jonnybhmm, but now i'm back on a wiki page about structures... [13:08]
arildbagain a detail prefs page, because you selected structures [13:08]
jonnybhmm, ok - maybe there's a better way to show this graphically - didn't seem obvious to me (but i guess i'm not a typical user) [13:09]
arildbthere may be better ways...it has been evolving quite a bit lately. [13:10]
jonnybi guess this is why tiki 12 has been postponed? too fluid now to branch i guess... [13:10]
arildbA graphical guidence about what's coming would be good [13:11]
jonnybyes, hard to tell where you are in it - a progress bar thing would help
hmm, http://dev.tiki.org/RoadMap says tiki 12 is due in 8 days
[13:11]
chibaguyjoined #tikiwiki [13:13]
jonnybgenerally though, the wizard works well and covers most features - so well done arildb [13:14]
arildbthanks jonnyb. The framwork seems to work, and it's easy to alter the wizard pages and order. There's still some work to be done on the content. [13:15]

[FIX] Make plugins (better) visible, when the inline editor is used with themes using a non-white background
[18:18]
arildbHi Bsfez, you mentioned the need to move the inline styling out of the admin wizard, to make it scriptable. How should this be solved. Use design.css, or? [18:20]
xaviarildb, regarding wizards: there is some duplication of information (at least, lots of overlapping) between the hard coded description of a preference in the admin_xxx.tpl and the info shown in the popup box when passing the mouse over the icon of the question mark (defined in the description fields of the corresponding feature definition elsewhere in TIki) [18:27]
arildbHi xavi [18:28]
xaviIn addition, the screen is sometimes a bit cluttered with text all over the place. Example: templates/wizard/admin_wiki.tpl : there is lots of text all over the screen
so I was wondering whether it wouldn't be better if we improve the description in the pop up box (good anyways), and allow the user to pass the mouse over one icon of those questions marks to know more about one feature
the interface would be way cleaner
xavi in brainstorming mode ^
[18:28]
arildbThe textual description should be checked/updated. I don't see a big problem with preferences being shown several places, e.g. categories. They are somewhat different cases. Yes, the admin_wiki page has quite a bit of text.
mouse of description. Helps content overload, but user must detect it, and a bit hadr to read several sections.
Maybe a "more ->>" button, which pops a description section of the template page
not pop, but makes an inline div visible
Azure uses a nice help feature. The help button is at the bottom. Up pressed, the help screen open from the bottom and up.
s/Up pressed/If pressed
[18:30]
xaviok, no idea myself (skills limited here) [18:34]
arildbIf we made a special div id, e.g. wizardHelpSection, then have the wizard frame present the More->> button and if pressed, show the wizardHelpSection, which is defined in the page .tpl file
Maybe that can work?
Then maybe get rid of all(?) help text in the main page section, but also develop the mouse-over descriptions.
[18:35]
xavimmmm, well, the other example was the structures page, which was clean with just the options (fairly descriptive themselves), plus the info shown in the popup over the info icon. Maybe this simple technical solution is enough? (once the user learns that this icon shows more info, then we are done, and we reuse the same system and info like elsewhere in Tiki admin panels?) [18:37]
arildbYes, the structure page, I agree...but the options are kind of obscure without a description
I agree that the mouse over option is much cleaner
[18:38]
xavito me, the first parapgrah introducing the specific help screen is fine (again, like in the structures page), but then, we can re-use the system (and info, improved where needed) of popup boxes
I wonder why some preferences don't have the info icon and extra popup box
xavi searches in the code
[18:38]
arildbwe can do that...develop the system preference descriptions and limited in page description to what is "required". An additional Help section may not be needed [18:41]
xaviyes, +1
and some of them show nothing because:
'description' => tra(''),
[18:41]
aalex_joined #tikiwiki [18:42]
xaviOk, I can help with that
btw, what did you have in mind for the user wizard?
arildb ? ^
[18:42]
arildbuser wizard...prime purpose validate that the wizard framework can be used with more wizards. Second reason, make a starting point for "user things", e.g. tutorials [18:43]
xaviok. I presume that the first wizard for users might be the one guiding them over the user settings in Tiki [18:44]
marclaportejoined #tikiwiki [18:44]
arildbmaybe ... The framework seems to work well with both. So, it's there to be developed further [18:45]
xaviI mean, if MyTiki is enabled, and USer Preferences screen, etc., then show the user the basic first questions to set up his/her account to match his/her wishes: info public/private, languages, etc [18:45]
arildbyes...maybe that [18:46]
xaviOk, I'll see how much time I can allocate for that during tomorrow
Once we have this basic user wizard in place, we'll need an extra option in the admin wizard: "Show user wizard on first login for new users: [ ]"
[18:47]
arildbWe should not enable the wizard at login time for user in Tiki 12.
This present additional complexities, which we should avoid right now.
[18:49]
xavinope, but let the tiki site admin do that id he/she wants in his/her site
for instance
but anyway, step by step... this can be done later if needed (12.1, etc)
[18:49]
arildbSomebody meantioned smething about a "start-up" module, which was run the first time a user logs in. This would run after the actual login, I assume
Does such a thing exist?
[18:51]
xavino idea
mmmm, in fact yes, there is some setting in an admin panel to send new users to one url once they are successfully validated and login for the first time,e tc.
^but this is a one-time approach
better than nothing as a starting point...
and the tiki site admin can choose to do that... (we can add that option somewhere in the admin wizard; maybe at the "Community" section)
[18:52]
arildbI am sure this can be re-programmed, so it is opened repeatedly until the user checks "Don't open again" [18:54]
xaviok [18:54]
arildbUsing the login wizard can also be used to signal important messages, e.g. security alerts to admins, who can then maybe subscribe to them.
or important system messages to users
[18:55]
panamausoh my. my users are bugging out this morning because the user drop-down list in "tasks" has stopped working
