[11:12] Tiki-KGB 03chibaguy r48022 10trunk/ 10(46 files in 18 dirs) * [ENH] Bootstrap classes added to more instances of input type="submit". [11:14] fabricius huh very busy chibaguy .. still mostly volontary (nonpaid) stuff .. many ideas regarding Tiki and UI/design, which is a hard task for me, as I am a side-entrant and missing some basic knowledge here and there .. meaning not ready to commit the ideas to the common code base or to release the project ideas [11:14] fabricius chibaguy: but prepared to share the ideas and getting closer anyway [11:17] chibaguy Well, we're at an especially good stage for sharing ideas, I think. There'll be a lot of changes in Tiki 13. It's a good time to rethink and improve things, probably. [11:17] fabricius chibaguy: my ideas are pretty much going to focus on non-techie users, making things easier to setup, design and structure more smooth .. same direction than other do with the wizard(s) .. my ideas are focussing mainly on using existing features to make life (with Tiki) easier for newbies and to make design responsive [11:18] fabricius chibaguy: question is who-what [11:19] chibaguy I'm trying to get my ideas together to put on a wiki page and dev list about Bootstrap, etc., so that can be one (more) thing to look at and give opinions about. [11:19] fabricius today I try to include/integrate certain jQuery plugins into one or some of my Tiki which I think are needed for responsive design or at least nice to have [11:19] chibaguy Also I'll upload some templates/layout/layout_view.tpl files to sourceforge tiki/users/chibaguy for people to have a look at. [11:20] chibaguy I haven't done anything with javascript (it's not really my area) so far. But I've had fun and some success with .tpls and css. [11:21] fabricius chibaguy do I have such a tiki/users/userpage aswell, or better question: whom to ask to get one? [11:21] chibaguy do you mean Tiki's sourceforge svn repository? the user directories? [11:21] fabricius chibaguy: maybe we could share some ideas about css/tpl and I would be delighted to share ideas on an appropriate dev.t.o/wikipage [11:22] fabricius yep, I mean [11:22] chibaguy IIRC, you can just create your directory locally and add and commit it. [11:22] fabricius commit access I have, so can I create one by myself? [11:22] fabricius ahh nice [11:22] fabricius have to try that [11:23] fabricius so far I only committed once ore once in a while to a certain branch [11:24] chibaguy In the past I used my user directory for theme files that were in transition, ones taking a long time so I never put them in mods or anywhere, things like that. [11:26] fabricius I want to demonstrate a feature idea, which I find very practical, but I'd need assistance by a developer before I can commit it - it is just css/tpl, but I need a preference for it to make it optional and deactivated by default - and maybe you could have a look at the tpl, if I have placed it on a good spot - meaning in the right
[11:27] chibaguy ok [11:27] fabricius the quickadmin and the main application menu are in my way in every single Tiki installation, but same time I need both at hand all the time [11:27] fabricius so I created a "leftflip" module or kind of a "toggle" menu which hides in the left corner of the browser [11:28] fabricius only one button visible in the top-left corner [11:28] fabricius hover and the admin slides out (css transition makes it a bit smother) [11:29] fabricius so everywhere the quickadmin buttons and the main app menu are instantly there, but never in the way [11:30] fabricius what do you think about the idea? I never want to miss that anymore, since I created it .. need it on every site I develop [11:30] chibaguy Sounds good. I wonder if it'd be good to generalize that kind of slide in/slide out and be able to put different content in it. [11:32] fabricius that would be a good idea aswell - also thought about "inventing" new module zones, which are "hidden" out of the browser edges and sliding in [11:32] fabricius such things could be made with jQuery plugins or with css/tpl [11:33] fabricius I really should present my idea, even it might be implemented in a different way finally, if somebody comes up with a better solution for it [11:34] chibaguy Yeah, good idea. [11:34] fabricius question is, where I put it to download in a way, that people can commit .. sf tiki/users ? [11:41] chibaguy yes, that'd be good. Then they (coding wizards) could check it and move it to trunk or whatever. [11:47] chibaguy You can see some of my tests at http://zukakakina.com/tikitrunk/ . This is making Bootstrap-compatible templates/layout/layout_view.tpl files and putting bootstrap.css, etc. in vendors/ . [11:47] chibaguy These are the files I'll put in my svn directory. [11:49] chibaguy Just a few files. [11:50] chibaguy Such files plus the bootstrap.css classes added in Tiki's tpl and php files already goes pretty far to support bootstrap themes and responsiveness. [11:51] chibaguy Of course when people create their content in wiki pages, etc., if they want the site to be responsive they'll have to add the classes in wiki divs, if they don't have a simple one-column center area. [11:51] chibaguy And we need to make it easy to have responsive elements in the page header and footer, etc. also. I do not like tha default as default, but in general the aproac and the work you have put in is very good .. right direction [12:11] chibaguy Well, the goal was just to replicate the bootstrap example themes, not to break new ground in design or anything like that. [12:11] fabricius sure [12:12] chibaguy You can compare to http://bootswatch.com/ [12:12] fabricius maybe we should consider to work together, cause I have experimented similarly and I am on similar issues [12:13] fabricius one real problem I am on (and a while ago nearly solved, but only nearly) is the navigation [12:14] Tiki-KGB 03xavidp r48026 10branches/12.x/templates/wizard/admin_features.tpl [12:14] Tiki-KGB [FIX]Avoid duplication of 'basic search' checkbox in both screens features (removed) and search (kept with the rest of search related features) [12:14] Tiki-KGB 03xavidp r48027 10branches/12.x/lang/ca/language.php * A few more strings translated [12:15] chibaguy Well, we have to wait for the coding wizards to do the heavy lifting on navigation elements, I think. Although there is also the question of whether to continue to support Superfish menus and add Bootstrap menu classes, or what. [12:15] fabricius chibaguy: could you make up a tiny horizontal demo css menu (and maybe optional a vertical one)? This is an important part and a proof of responsiveness [12:16] chibaguy About the collaboration, let me upload my files and add some doc/idea pages and you can see what you think. Anyway, I've got to go do some work now (away from computer for a while). [12:16] chibaguy Well, currently my horizontal menus just wrap when the page gets narrow. [12:16] chibaguy which is a good behavior, I think. [12:16] chibaguy I didn't do anything special; it just happens that way. [12:16] chibaguy See you later. [12:16] fabricius chibaguy: there are a few MIT licenced jq plugins out there, but I'd need assistance to find out a standardised way to implement external jq [12:17] fabricius c ya later [12:17] chibaguy I'd like to stick to native Tiki ways as much as possible. Tiki already has so many external files to get. [12:17] chibaguy Anyway, lataer. I just moved a tiki-install (version 10.2) from one server to another and have run into two interesting issues. The setup of these two sites are quite similar. One running fedora and the new one is a RHEL6-install, bith using a cherokee webserver. The Tiki-sites are identical. [20:36] rinnan Issue 1: Suddenly logging in using IE is no longer possible, due to the dreaded "You have to enable cookies to be able to login to this site" error message. Both Firefox and Chrome works just fine (and we haven't got any tilde characters in our path). [20:36] rinnan Issue 2: Some GIF-images in the file galleries are displayed with black background. If I display them directly from a web folder on the same server they appear with white background (as they do on the old Tiki-site). I'm guessing these are transparent GIF's. [20:37] rinnan Now, I'm sure the reason behind these issues are a combinination of factors, like the software version or similar, but I've spent all day barking up a multitude of wrong trees. My hope is that one of you guys have seen similar errors earlier and might be able to give me pointers as where to start looking. My myriad of web searches have all failed to give me a clue. [20:41] ricks99 i've seen the transparent gif issue before. iirc, it only happens for transparent gifs when you're displaything them at antyhing other than 100% [20:41] ricks99 if you view at full size, do u still see the black background? [20:42] ricks99 you might also want to try with the current 10.x (10.4 i believe) instead of your 10.2. these issues might have already been fixed.
