hello!
I'm trying to upgrade an old tiki server, 1.8 version, to 1.9 (first step to upgrade to a newer version, I have read), but I can't login with admin user. All the other users can login and I admin user exists in mysql table tiki.users_users. I changed admin password via mysql command, with no errors. But admin can't login. Is there another way to change admin password? Thanks in advance! marclaporte: jpdebian: which version will you go to?
jpdebian: I suggest you upgrade all the way to 9x LTS or 12 LTS Alpha
jpdebian: In more recent versions, in tiki-install.php, you can set the admin user to be in Admins group jpdebian: I tried to upgrade to a new version, first, unsuccessful. I read in doc.tiki.org that 1.8 is very old and I must to upgrade to 1.9, then upgrade to 3.9 and, later, upgrade to 9 or 12. Now, my server runs 1.9, ok, but I cant login with admin user. Rest of features are right.
1.9 version installer ask for a password for admin, too, and I provided old 1.8 admin password, successful. Installer runs right and, now, 1.9 version is running. marclaporte: hmmm
You should be able to do from 1.9.x to any later version
I am positive you can skip 3
You will get false warning errors because our DB migration script was less smart than today
But it will work
1.8 -> 1.9 -> any
Don't worry about logging in to 1.9
What version do you plan to upgrade to? jpdebian: I want to upgrade to last version or a LTS version. But, before to upgrade from 1.9 to 3.9, I want to login with admin user
Dou you think that I can login with admin user in 3.9 ?
(when I do next upgrade step, from 1.9 to 3.9) marclaporte: forget about 3.9
Go to latest 9.x or 11.1 jpdebian: I read, at http://doc.tiki.org/Upgrade#If_you_have_1.9.x_or_2.x : "However, if you are having trouble with a database upgrade of anything prior to 3.0 (so including 1.9 and 2.0, especially if it started life before 1.9) it is recommended you upgrade to 3.x (currently 3.8) first, and then to your final version." marclaporte: yeah, I wonder who wrote that :-)
6.x has all the same scripts as 3.x jpdebian: Is it possible to upgrade from 1.9 to 11.1 without admin user access in t version? marclaporte: yup jpdebian: in old version, I'm trying to write marclaporte: Starting in version 3.0, you can set the admin password in the installer (tiki-install.php) Source: https://doc.tiki.org/Lost+admin+password jpdebian: Thank you! So, I'll try to upgrade to 11.1
Any more suggestions? Thank you very much! marclaporte: Do you have a custom theme?
If you do, be prepared to say goodbye :-)
Are you using web interface or command line? jpdebian: I have a custom theme, but no trouble to change it (it's very old) marclaporte: If you use command line http://dev.tiki.org/Get+code#Using_11.x_from_SVN will save you a lot of time for updates jpdebian: I have no trouble to use both methods
Thank you very much for the idea! svn is always a good option marclaporte: Also for you: http://dev.tiki.org/Update
Is your site only in English? jpdebian: Thank you, marclaporte! My website is in Spanish, not in English marclaporte: Bueno jpdebian: But i'm thinking about to have the website in two languages, when I finished upgrading marclaporte: Entonces, debe usar conversion UTF-8 en tiki-install.php
Otherwise, your accents will be all wonky jpdebian: Vaya!
Each new version has new strings to translate
and sometimes, strings change so translations are lost
We also added a lot of admin tips in recent years, most of which the average end user never sees
jpdebian: how many users do you have? jpdebian: I have approximately 1000 users, but each course, are different users (it's a high school)
Since website starts, 12000 users marclaporte: ok, it's totally worth translating :-)
Can you get students to translate? https://tiki.org/Translation+Student+Program jpdebian: This is the idea for 2014, really. If I can upgrade tiki, of course!
I'm trying to convince english teachers to participate. But I need an actual look for our website
I read that there is an spanish user, Daida_Q, that have start with the experience to translate, from Universidad Europea de Madrid
Is it working, now ?
Is he working, now ? (sorry) marclaporte: I don't know, but I can put you in touch with them jpdebian: Thank you! I appreciate you to put in touch with them!
I registered today in tiki.org with the same login (jpdeian)
jpdebian, sorry
