[03:06] fabricius hrsms - the story is quite easy to tell: sourceforge - our svn repository provider - got a huge overhaul lately and thus the paths did change [03:07] marclaporte fabricius: the knowledge should go the wiki, where people will look for it [03:07] fabricius maybe a few more details [03:07] fabricius marclaporte: is not there? obviously. [03:09] nelsonko @marclaporte I think I might have a fix. testing... [03:09] marclaporte fabricius: hrsms is going through what many others have and will go through. This should be clearly documented. [03:09] fabricius marclaporte and hrsms ... still right, that the knowlegs has to go to a wikipage to be found by users [03:10] fabricius marclaporte: you are right! [03:10] marclaporte hrsms: you have to add something to the wiki before we can continue [03:10] fabricius at this point I would suggest that hrsms sticks to his original plan and makes a fresh checkout [03:11] fabricius keeping the original 9.x as "running backup" [03:12] marclaporte fabricius: why? [03:12] hrsms @marclaporte: Got. it. I may have missed the "relocate" instructions before your last fix. I think I was too fixated on the section above "Example Command". When I read "Example Commands" I presumed it was example "switch" commands, and I was still trying to get past the "pre 2013" part. I should have read more closely. [03:13] fabricius marclaporte ... cause he does svn checkout only second time, has to switch first time, does not know the shell at all ... ohhh kay ... he made it anyway .. congrats hrsms [03:14] fabricius hrsms are you the guy whom I guided through his first ever using the shell experience whilst being badly tired and nearly sleeping at 6 o'clock in the morning? [03:14] hrsms "you have to add something to the wiki before we can continue" What is that? [03:14] fabricius without audio - just in the chat? [03:14] nelsonko @marclaporte So what I did is to make the indexer detect if it's a fresh install (i.e. only one user and no homepage) [03:15] nelsonko then it indexes the admin user so at least there is something to index [03:15] marclaporte hrsms: read http://dev.tiki.org/Update+from+SVN+pre+2013 and add the content of svn info as an example for others. [03:15] nelsonko seems like a reasonable workaround to me [03:17] marclaporte fabricius: svn has benefit of merging and dealing with non Tiki content. This saves time. Why would someone not want to take advantage of this? [03:17] hrsms @fabricius: "are you the guy whom I guided". Yes, that was likely me. I kept notes from that, and rather than looking for tiki wiki pages on updates I was trying to use my notes from the previous time. Not such a good idea... [03:17] fabricius hrsms .. I guess marclaporte wants you to document the part to here first, before he continues to explain the installation ... in Ottawa a few days ago, he made me developing my complete 5 pages company website in 5 less than 5 hrs [03:18] Tiki-KGB 03nkoth r48846 10branches/12.x/lib/search/searchlib-unified.php * [FIX] Fix for initial new indexing not creating index due to no content [03:18] marclaporte This is yet another example of why we need clear community recipes for all common operations. Starting over elsewhere is the mentality of someone who is used to FTP [03:19] nelsonko @marclaporte Because it looks to me (but I may be wrong) that it's a systemic thing that a mysql unified index can't exist if there is no content at all. [03:19] fabricius marclaporte: I always do minor upgrades just svn up, but you got me! with the shell I easily could copy the complete installation directory in a few seconds, change the local.php and have my running backup .. next time I will do that and switch .. good point! [03:22] nelsonko @marclaporte: you can test my fix it works for me [03:22] marclaporte nelsonko: doing now [03:22] fabricius hrsms ... not a bad idea, but better would have been the following: put your notes on a wikipage on doc.tiki.org, write me an email and ask me to review .. then we simply needed to add marclaportes hint of copy and switch, which will save me more hours doing major upgrades [03:23] marclaporte fabricius: great, so now please document :-) [03:23] nelsonko @marclaporte: in future we ought to consider moving the homepage creation logic to before the installer ends [03:25] hrsms With the switch functionality, I think my old notes are obsolete. No need to post them. But I think I understand what marc is asking for as my contribution here. I'll post the URL both before and after doing the relocate. I have the before saved. Now I'll do the relocate, run info again, and post that after version. OK? [03:26] marclaporte hrsms: well if you can improve that page to be what you would have wanted, that would be awesome! [03:29] marclaporte nelsonko: so index is created indeed, with just one element (user admin). This is expected? [03:29] nelsonko yes [03:30] nelsonko basically as I said, ideally it would be best if we can create the homepage prior to the end of the installer so we can index that instead of admin [03:30] nelsonko But that is a rather big change right now [03:32] marclaporte So, we re-package 12.0 now? [03:33] nelsonko yes if you can. I would rather not make any more changes [03:33] marclaporte ok, super [03:33] marclaporte changi: I hope you are still u [03:33] marclaporte up [03:33] marclaporte Both blockers are resolved and Composer / setup.sh doc is relevant now [03:33] marclaporte changi: please re-package 12.0 final :-) [03:34] hrsms My svn info now reads: URL: https://svn.code.sf.net/p/tikiwiki/code/branches/9.x This is better? [03:35] marclaporte hrsms: yes [03:35] marclaporte try svn status [03:38] hrsms It is running [03:39] marclaporte nelsonko: is it normal that editing pages doesn't add more info to the index? (incremental update) [03:39] nelsonko when search feature is offI believe so [03:40] nelsonko try turn it on [03:40] nelsonko and then edit [03:45] lindonb joined #tikiwiki [03:45] marclaporte ok [03:46] marclaporte we can improve for 13 [03:46] marclaporte because indexing should happen even when search is off [03:53] marclaporte changi: sleeping? [03:59] hrsms http://dev.tiki.org/Update+from+SVN+pre+2013 updated [04:06] nelsonko @marclaporte, would be good for 13, but have to rename that feature again :) [04:06] fabricius I'll check it, if I can add something - thank you very much hrsms [04:06] nelsonko the text in the admin panel i.e. @marclaporte [04:07] nelsonko @marclaporte, isn't that a default change? [04:07] nelsonko anyway, can discuss more later. I'm off for the night [04:07] nelsonko changi can probably package when he gets up? [04:09] marclaporte default change? [04:10] nelsonko I mean that under the feature "Unified Search Index" there are a lot of settings that determine what gets indexed or not etc [04:10] nelsonko some options are more about querying, e.g. the weights but many are about indexing [04:10] nelsonko if indexing is always on then these options need to be settable [04:11] marclaporte ok [04:11] marclaporte nelsonko: needs doing indeed :-) http://dev.tiki.org/item4666 [04:12] nelsonko it's sort of renamed now already [04:12] nelsonko the label has been changed, it now shows as "Unified Search Index" in the admin panel [04:13] marclaporte Right, but it's perpetuing the confusion [04:14] marclaporte but anyway, it's OK for now [04:14] nelsonko ok gd night :) [04:14] marclaporte Thanks Nelson! [04:26] hrsms I am on Bluehost, and get the error shown here. https://dev.tiki.org/Composer#Bluehost. Is there anything to be done? [04:26] hrsms Sorry. Anything that can be done? [04:30] lindonb what error are you seeing? [04:33] hrsms Sorry. Wrong link. http://tiki.org/Bluehost [04:34] hrsms It says "No input file specified." "We have failed to obtain the composer executable." and then some steps to attempt a resolution. I tried those, but no luck. [04:35] hrsms I posted this problem a while back. http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=49930&topics_offset=7 [04:35] hrsms No responses, so I put it off for a while. [04:43] lindonb and there is no composer.phar file in the temp folder? [05:01] hrsms No, no composer.phar file [05:02] lindonb "php temp/composer install" in the tiki root doesn't work? [05:03] lindonb opps - php temp/composer.phar install [05:11] hrsms I had tried something weeks back that I thought had installed Composer. Perhaps it has not. I just downloaded the file to my home machine and uploaded to the server. Now sh setup.sh may have worked this time. Certainly more of a result than before, but if it was successful is hard for me to say. There are a lot of messages regarding being on a shared host that I do not fully understand. [05:12] lindonb can you paste the messages here? [05:16] hrsms I need to back up. I was in the wrong directory - one for an older tiki version. I've run setup.sh in the new folder (for 11.x) and now I see something completely different. [05:17] lindonb ok, different error or does it look like it's working? [05:18] hrsms It is asking me to select an option: f fix (classic default) o open (classic option) and then a host of very odd ones related to "permission check model" 'paranoia', 'worry', 'pain', 'insane'. What the heck is this? [05:18] hrsms I don't know what these are, but they scare me :-) [05:18] lindonb press c for composer [05:19] lindonb is that an option? (not sure if c was there in version 11) [05:20] hrsms C was not an option, but I tried it. There were not messages, it just took me back to the same dialog. The prior default was 'f', now it is 'x' (for exit). [05:21] lindonb press f [05:21] lindonb that's safe [05:21] lindonb when prompted, hit enter a few times [05:22] hrsms OK. Done. It's the same as in the file for the older version of tiki. These are the message (I just kept hitting enter) [05:22] hrsms You are not root or you are on a shared hosting account. You can now: [05:22] hrsms 1- ctrl-c to break now. [05:22] hrsms or [05:23] hrsms 2- If you press enter to continue, you will probably get some error messages but it (the script) will still fix what it can according to the permissions of your user. [05:30] hrsms I ran "php installer/shell.php", per http://dev.tiki.org/Update#Database. It only took a second. Is that normal? [05:32] lindonb i've never done it that way so not sure. I've gone through the tiki interface [05:33] lindonb source forge archive of commits is here: http://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/mailman/tikiwiki-cvs/ [05:33] lindonb last commit message is for 48846 [05:35] hrsms Look like I accidentally went from my intended 11.x to 12 [05:36] lindonb can you open your tiki yet? [05:43] lindonb ha ha - it is here: http://dev.tiki.org/composer#Uncaught_exception [05:44] lindonb i put it there because i had the same problem myself! [05:46] lindonb try this: php-cli temp/composer.phar install [05:46] hrsms Is that tip #3? [05:47] lindonb seems similar [05:48] hrsms It's downloading several things. I wish I knew what I was doing here. Can you explain without having to write a book? [05:49] lindonb for whatever reason, composer didn't properly install in the first place [05:49] hrsms Probably because I didn't do it correctly. [05:50] lindonb now that it is installed, it is downloading all the external packages tiki uses [05:50] lindonb i think the cli thing was probably the problem in your case [05:51] lindonb you may always need to run the command line php commands rather than shell [05:51] lindonb i mean rather than sh setup.sh [05:52] lindonb seems like setup.sh doesn't handle the cli varition [05:52] lindonb variation [05:52] hrsms Probably worse than the cli. I ran something weeks ago (months ago?) thinking that it installed composer. Can't remember what it was, but it apparently was not it. Then just now I only grabbed the .phar file, thinking that was all I needed. I'm trying to go too fast, not reading closely enough. [05:53] lindonb understandable - the composer thing should be simpler imho [05:53] hrsms I understand it's new. I'm sure they'll clear it up over time. [05:55] hrsms I'm back in my tiki, but the modules (?) are missing. No menu, no login. [05:56] lindonb is it a brand new tiki? [05:57] hrsms No. Started some version prior to 6. Then it was upgraded to 6, then to 9, now to 11 (or maybe 12, by mistake). [05:57] lindonb what if you go to tiki-install.php [06:00] hrsms I manually typed in the admin url. There is an error messge telling me to do the same [06:00] hrsms errorsDatabase Version Problem Your database requires an update to match the the Tiki version; use the installer. Using Tiki with an incorrect database version will cause errors. If you have shell (SSH) access, you can also use the following, on the command line, from the root of your Tiki installation: php installer/shell.php [06:00] lindonb i use the tiki interface [06:05] hrsms I mean that I manually typed the url to get to the tiki interface, since the modules with the login and admin links are missing. So I'm at the point in tiki-install where I give the database connection. I'm going to go off on a tangent here: [06:07] hrsms fabricius help me upgrade from 6 to 9 a year ago. As a result of his instructions (perhaps I didn't follow them correctly) I created a new database, dropped the table from the old one, and loaded them to the new one. The new database, which I am using now, was named with a "9x" at the end, which is no longer approprate. Can I rename the existing database before I continue with the tiki-intall (just to get rid of the 9x, which co [06:09] lindonb are you using phpmyadmin? [06:11] hrsms yes. I'm seeing now where I can copy it. Then I should be able to point to the copy. What about this option: "Add AUTO_INCREMENT value", which is checked on by default? [06:11] lindonb uncheck [06:12] lindonb yes, that's exactly what i was going to suggest - create a copy [06:12] hrsms radio button set to Structure and Data [06:12] hrsms CREATE DATABASE before copying [ON] [06:12] hrsms Add DROP TABLE / DROP VIEW [OFF] [06:13] hrsms Add AUTO_INCREMENT value [OFF] (now it is) [06:13] hrsms Add constraints [OFF] [06:13] hrsms Any other changes? [06:13] lindonb looks ok [06:16] hrsms mysql, and not mysqli, correct? [06:17] lindonb mysqli [06:18] hrsms Is that difference something I can see in phpmyadmin? [06:18] hrsms I have to chose what the host is using, correct? [06:19] lindonb plain mysql is old [06:19] lindonb you should be safe with mysqli [06:19] lindonb not sure where you can see this [06:26] hrsms Getting better, but still with some problems.... [06:26] hrsms I'm sure I've upgraded successfully. But where in admin can I see the version? [06:27] lindonb admin general panel [06:29] hrsms I think I might have to turn User-friendly url's back on... (not related to the admin version question) [06:29] lindonb are you on tiki 11? [06:29] fabricius hey lindonb and hrsms ... still fighting!? ... had some other support and I am fighting on a funio.com host ... curious if they have the appropriate php version for future 13 yet [06:30] hrsms yes, tiki 11.2 [06:30] lindonb ok, thought so [06:32] hrsms the SEFURL is already on, so that's not my problem. If you're not tired of me yet, I'll explain what it is... [06:33] hrsms I have a page that lists items of a tracker. http://www.hrsms.org/home/References [06:34] hrsms If you have permission, there is an edit icon for each item. That takes you to http://www.hrsms.org/home/Edit+Reference+Edition&itemId={{itemId}} [06:34] hrsms Now I get this error: Edit Reference Edition&itemId=1062 [06:34] hrsms Sorry: [06:34] hrsms Page not found [06:34] hrsms Edit Reference Edition&itemId=1062 [06:36] hrsms The page is set up to add (not edit) a new reference if the item ID is not passed. If I go to http://www.hrsms.org/home/Edit+Reference+Edition it works. So, it doesn't like the &itemId={{itemId}} part, but I have no idea why. [06:38] lindonb not sure - you've cleared all caches on your server and browser? [06:38] hrsms tiki cache yes, browser no [06:39] lindonb nice-looking site by the way :) [06:40] hrsms Thanks! Surprised to get a compliment from a "real" tiki user. I just dabble in it. [06:45] fabricius hrsms, I would be curious if you could be keen on trying to upgrade to bootstrap based responsive Tiki 13 ... development project on a testcopy, not the productive website ... anyway would mean some amount of work to refactor and rethink the layout ... by the way nice site as it is .. you theme fits to the topic very well [06:45] hrsms Cleared the browser except for active logins. That did not help. [06:46] fabricius hrsms what you want to achieve with adding resources (language difficulty mainly - do not understand, what you want to add) [06:47] hrsms We can talk about the Tiki 13 issue, but not tonight. I need to get some sleep soon. [06:47] hrsms I don't understand the second question, about resources. [06:49] fabricius no not tonight!! hehe [06:49] fabricius hehe ... you did not understand what I do not understand? [06:50] fabricius funny [06:50] hrsms Are you asking why I have this list of books? [06:50] fabricius no [06:51] fabricius I just looked at your site and try to imagine how the tracker items, the categories and the wikipages are interlinked [06:51] fabricius and what you mean with ressource [06:52] fabricius name of modeller or type of vessel or image of model [06:56] hrsms Resources: Resources for ship modeling items. This area is not very well developed. I hope to revise and expand it soon. What you see currently is from before I started using tiki - I created the club's first website as a learning experience - first just a little html, then added some css, then some mysql and php - all just using notepad and ftp. [06:58] hrsms What look like they should be categories are just some options in the table. I copied these over from the original site. Now that I am using tiki I will probably change to using categories. But I haven't worked on this yet. [06:59] hrsms The categories I do have allow a visitor to find ship models by era, type, nationality, the model maker's name, etc. In addition to a search tool, it helps me create a dynamic index as new pages are added. [07:00] hrsms Maybe I should be using a Structure instead? I don't know.... [07:02] hrsms If you browse the categories, you can follow Model Subject --> Nationality --> Portugal, and you will find one listing. This is the model I should be working on instead of devoting hours and hours to this website !!!!! [07:04] hrsms If you are a visitor and you really like tugboats, you would follow Type-->Vessel-->Working-->Tugs/Towboats, and you'll find four models built by our members. [07:05] hrsms I really like this one, by the way - http://www.hrsms.org/home/Wild+Goose [07:06] lindonb nice indeed! [07:07] hrsms @fabricius: does that answer the question? [07:09] hrsms I just noticed that the behavior has changed! [07:10] Tiki|bot New Forum Posts: bootstrap video clip: ready - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=26&comments_parentId=50397 [07:12] hrsms It used to be that when you clicked Models-->By Member on the left-hand menu that it would display the names of all of the modellers. Then you could click on a name and see what they had built. Now it is just a sequential listing of the pages. That's not good !! [07:13] fabricius nice model [07:13] fabricius hrsms - yes, you made things clearer [07:13] fabricius maybe we could follow up to discuss the behaviour thing another day [07:15] hrsms Sure. I am even more concerned about the &itemId={{itemId}} issue (discussed further above) [07:15] fabricius did it work before? [07:16] fabricius haven't seen this before [07:16] hrsms Yes. I've been working hard on it for the past week. [07:16] fabricius so worked in 9.x and not anymore in 11.2? [07:16] hrsms In 9.2. I got it to the point where I was happy with it (except it is very slow) and then did a backup before moving to 11.2. Now it doesn't work. [07:17] fabricius I cannot say, if that is a crude hack or a smart way to do s.th ... but if it is a smart way to do something, it seems to be a regression [07:18] fabricius Tiki12 coming out soon, it is likely to get fixed in 12, if reported there, as 12 will become LTS [07:19] hrsms I thought this was a normal way. I'm pretty sure I have seen examples in doc.tiki.org [07:19] fabricius but there are other people who are more familiar with specific tracker magic than me [07:19] fabricius can be normal [07:19] fabricius but advanced [07:19] hrsms I also see that all of my special characters (Portuguese) have been lost. This happened in my last two upgrades also. But I thought that since I finally had UTF-8 set that I wouldn't see it again. Not so. To see what I mean, go to http://www.hrsms.org/home/Cule+and+Chata and see the "Research" tab. [07:20] fabricius ouch [07:20] fabricius thats bad [07:20] fabricius and should not be [07:21] hrsms probable cause would be????? [07:21] fabricius we should chat some day soon and try to figure out things [07:21] fabricius no idea off hand [07:22] fabricius and sorry, must finish something and then get my little son picked up [07:22] hrsms What do you have in mind as far as "some day soon"? [07:22] hrsms It is 1:21 am here. Time for bed. [07:23] hrsms Thank you very much for your time, once again !!!! And definitely to you too lindonb!!! [07:23] hrsms @lindonb: Thank you very much !! [07:23] lindonb np have a good night! [07:26] hrsms I'll be back to see if anyone can help with this &itemId issue. Good night all.
