Robert___: from argentina
and im searching a new cms to my website ciudadpolitica.org refizul: Robert___: hi
Robert___: hablo ingles
Robert___: What is your question about CMS or especially Tiki?
Do you already use Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware?
Or is this website a xoops installation right now?
Do you need advice to migrate to Tiki on technical level?
Do you need advice whether to migrate or not on philosophical level?
start line with [off] to exclude message from log Robert___: sorry tel
wait please
here im
sorry
tel
my grandma
My website is now in xoops
Its an old version
I like to migrate
To a cms more oriented to community but with semantics for resources
this is very good site http://www.aster.it/tiki-index.php refizul: .
So what stops you from migration? Robert___: i dont know tikiwiki refizul: You like to migrate, so just do it if you think Tiki is appropriate for you.
ok
How much time do you have to administrate the page in average?
2h a week? Robert___: all a day a half an hour refizul: this is 3h a week approx Robert___: and how about the security? refizul: how much time do you have to spend on migration? Robert___: one week refizul: one week full or only private time? Robert___: private time refizul: how much is this in hours a day? Robert___: but the migration its not about the whole site
2 hours
i have two question
one about security
and the other about the upgrade refizul: migration will need to become confident with Tiki - first do a test installation and play around. Maybe 2-5h to get an impression Robert___: ok
and how about spanish translation? refizul: at the beginning, you need some time to adjust Tiki to your needs - including language specification
My spanisch is quiet poor, but Tiki is quiet ok AFAIK Robert___: i speak a poor english
but understand all refizul: Tiki is a multilingual system - this was the main reason for me to go here
At least one of the coders is from Spain
eh - not coders, but contributors Robert___: im know php refizul: language is not something to worry if you use Tiki - you can improve missing translations
do you have got opportunity to test it?
an old PC somewhere or a virtual machine? Robert___: yes, i have a hosting server
with apache and mysql
www.ciudadpolitica.org/social refizul: so: do a test installation and play around for 1-2 days Robert___: ok, i do this refizul: it took me 2 hours to see the potential and I loved it
then go step by step and try do do stuff and more stuff
then go step by step and try to do stuff and more stuff
you will know in less than two days whether Tiki is good for you or not
once you migrate - you won't regret it
if you need foo or bar (as a blog or a forum or...) later - just activate it. no more installation
now about your points above Robert___: yes refizul: upgrade and security Robert___: im uploading now the zip in the server refizul: Tiki is renewed each 6 months, and each 18 months there is LTS Robert___: i upload the 12 version refizul: and there are intermediate updates inbetween Robert___: ok refizul: follow the update manual on website and things will be smooth Robert___: good refizul: security issues will be fixed in intermediate updates
LTS is supported longer
former 3.5y or something, now we choosed a 5y lifecycle Robert___: searching for security issues i see this http://www.hacking-etic.cat/?p=823&lang=es
its in spanish
you use tikiwiki or are a coder? refizul: http://info.tiki.org/Version+Lifecycle
I am a low level coder, more administrator and user Robert___: of tiki or a other website? refizul: https://dev.tiki.org/RoadMap
I contributed some PHP code and shell to improve administration Robert___: ok, maybe i need to wait the Tiki13 ( Tiki13 is planned for April 2014 )
what its your opinion?
i hace 16000 members refizul: I do more stuff C++ and infrastructure in virtualization Robert___: i have 16000 members, but only 2000 active refizul: My opinion is, you should be conservative and take Tiki 12 LTS, and have an eye on Tiki 13 Robert___: ok, i see, thanks
thank you for your attention refizul: if Tiki 13 is okay, you can switch to Tiki 15 next year Robert___: OK! and how about the responsive design? and the html5 validate? refizul: no problem, you're welcome in the Tiki community Robert___: i read tiki its very complete but the modules are coding independents (sorry for my english =) refizul: resp. des. is not my field of experience, but you can ask Torsten about that during the next days
he will be back here in IRC in a couple of days
look for a nick starting with fab[...]
he does Bootstrap design as well Robert___: here in Argentina a big site with Tiki is http://biblioteca.fadu.uba.ar/tiki-index.php
Ok, i try to contact him
12000 files remaning =) refizul: AFAIK the origins from Tiki are in South America Robert___: seriously? Good refizul: I guess Brazil Robert___: i discover, because im searching for a semantic site
i see too mediawiki refizul: without the idea of Free Software - we would have exploited this idea as well as anything you can provide. Shame on "first world" governments
but Tiki community gives everything back to the whole world Robert___: Ok
Thank you refizul
i will eat in the dinner now
my english is similar to a robocall
=)

I need some help with the trick of the post-it note (and therefore, the profile I created for it), because I can't manage to get it closed after page reload
the example in http://doc.tiki.org/post-it works (placed inside the wiki page), but not when the equivalent code is placed in "Admin home > L&F > Customization fields" Tiki-KGB: 03xavidp r50430 10mods/trunk/ 10wiki-plugins/r/lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_rr.php 10Packages/wikiplugins-r.info.txt
[FIX]Concatenation character for the url to refresh cache fixed for some SEFURL cases.
