Hi guys! :) I have some problem with Tikiwiki Authentication
I set up the auth system to use my CAS server (that is bind with an LDAP server)
The login works fine ;) but I cann't figure out how to import LDAP groups of the user! :(
If I use the LDAP auth method for tiki, groups works fine! I also tried to configure "LDAP external server for groups" but no result... Any idea??
I have Tikiwiki 14.x

DarthDepaHi :) [09:35]
gezzafabricius just keep you updated: i made a page for the transifex workflow https://tiki.org/Translation+workflow+using+transifex, also contacted transifex about the language.js file that is not recognized currently
hi darthdepa
[09:35]
DarthDepagezza: May you help me? [09:36]
fabriciuswolod
Hi gezza
have seen the page yesterday - thk you!
I brought German translation from 73% to 76% yesterday ... heading towards 80%
[09:36]
gezzadarthdepa : maybe I can help, depending on what is the issue :) [09:37]
DarthDepaI set up the auth system to use my CAS server (that is bind with an LDAP server)
The login works fine ;) but I cann't figure out how to import LDAP groups of the user! :(
[09:37]
fabriciusleast goal has to be >95% for the most important languages [09:37]
DarthDepaIf I use the LDAP auth method for tiki, groups works fine! I also tried to configure "LDAP external server for groups" but no result... Any idea??
I have Tikiwiki 14.x
[09:37]
gezzafabricius : download your translation to local from time to time [09:38]
fabriciuswhy? [09:38]
DarthDepaSo, If I use LDAP auth method all works fine... If I use CAS auth, qhen user login Tiki can not know his groups
:(
[09:38]
gezzawe will come to test soon automated updates, things can go wrong :)
darthdepa : i am not familiar with the LDAP integration, have checked the documentation?
[09:38]
fabriciusah please report early enough and we all must take care about backing up languages where any contributions have been made [09:39]
DarthDepaYeah... Nothing special :(
Seems that "LDAP External server for groups" is not working well
Because if I have CAS Auth method I hope that ""LDAP External server for groups"" import groups at login for me
[09:39]
gezzanot sure this is any help, but check here too for information: https://tiki.org/forum17 [09:41]
fabriciusgezza, DarthDepa we must somehow bring the LDAP users together ... every so often someone pops up, often fram a small company environment, but not really networking - we NEED to get the LDAP expertise to one table! [09:41]
gezzafabricius: there is a forum for this, i just linked it [09:42]

thanks a lot

thanks anyway

fabriciusDarthDepa: I am thinking to somehow actively connect LDAP users with each other, maybe offering a webinar / roundtable meeting or so ... and if it is only to find out where the different people and companies have reached to or are stuck
DarthDepa: would you be interested in such an approach?
[09:46]
DarthDepafabricius: I'm not an expert about LDAP... not at all lol
In my company, we use LDAP and CAS for some services
[09:47]
gezzabrb [09:48]
DarthDepafabricius: anyway, I think that is a good thing to do! ;) [09:49]
fabriciusI think most of the LDAP users around are not the experts, but use it somehow in a company environment and have to figure out things ... that brings me to the idea to let people stick together in a community driven but professional way
good
by the way: are you from italy?
[09:49]
DarthDepaYeah ;) [09:49]
fabriciusvery good
would you be interested in helping the Italian translation getting to a higher percentage?
the Tiki Translation Team needed some more contributors in a number of important languages
[09:49]
DarthDepaI have no much time :(
I'm involved in some others projects and I have no time left
[09:50]
fabriciusIt is so easy to contribute, that you even could quickly login for only few strings, whenever you find stuff that should be translated for your company
that easy, that you maybe could encoiurage collegues who are using Tiki in the company aswell
We just started a pilot project on Transifex, where I increased German from 73% to 76% yesterday evening in a break time besides watching some television series
just besides in the browser a few strings and i have been surprised by myself

fabriciuspbiendl hi, I found a number of funny things, double and multiple same strings, misstranslations ... need to talk with the DeTUG about translation strategies, soon
pbiendl: one question is "Sie" or "Du" and I feel strongly from previous comments, that "Sie" get's more and more support, as more companies get interested in Tiki - what do you think?
[10:07]
pbiendlWell, if the Community does the Translations that's an error that will occour all the time... most of the time the problem is the out-of-context-translation. You don't really know where this string appears [10:08]
fabriciusyou are right and there are spots where this occour more and spots where translation is obvious [10:09]
DarthDepahttps://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=56698&forumId=17 [10:09]
pbiendlWell i dont know, in some CMS you can choose between these two, i configure all my CMSs with "Du" if possible, but there are other companies too, which want to use a formal form of "Sie". Just compare Typo3 and Wordpress... Wordpress is more personally, Typo3 more professional just by changing the salutation [10:11]
fabriciusWorking with Transifex since a few days, I feel that has advantages in this respect aswell and maybe the Tiki internal online translation could be used for a subsequent quality control [10:11]

[10:14]
pbiendlfabricius: Some time ago i did some translations for PrestaShop. They use https://crowdin.com/, and they solve the out-of-context-errors really good [10:17]
fabriciusI think into the following direction (still can be commented by other community mebers):
1. Get German back up to near 100%
2. Same time switch to "formal (Sie)" for "de"
3. Create a "casual (Du)" branch as "de_informell"
where "de_informell" might get another naming aswell
4. Cleanup English source file (which can be done independantly from language teams
5. recheck context with interactive i18n capability of Tiki and merge outcomings into Transifex
I will share the crowdin.com link and check that aswell thx. Transifex is a promising pilot project for us, yet no final desicion made. I think the most important thing is getting non-tecchie contributors motivated.
[10:17]
pbiendlJust watch the Demo, they also have in-context-translation (like the inline-edit in Tiki)
Here the example: https://demo.crowdin.com/profile/demo

[10:44]
gezzahistorically: polom has been a greating (coming from lord of the rings?) for long time, then there was a tikifest in czech republic where we found a nearby village that was named Polom to take a photo there
anyway, it is a greating :)

Have you checked out the Transifex site yet, the Tiki project there?
(translation interface, etc.)
I did some translations in the Japanese file at that site, then installed the local client to pull the translation. I wanted to see how the file compares to the standard Tiki lanaguage file.
It seems all lines are commented out; I don't know why it's commenting out lines that weren't commented out before, why it's touching lines that weren't processed during the online translating.
I wonder if this is a configuration thing.
For the project resource.
I'll have to check with gezza and/or fabricius.
The good news my translations were saved in the file ok. But when using the cli client, the language file is pulled to a new directory in Tiki, ‏not directly to lang/. I suppose this will all be automated eventually.
For now I could use WinMerge (diff application) to merge in my changes.
[13:55]
jonnybsorry chibaguy - i registered at transifex but not done anything with it yet, gezza and fabricius have been working on that mostly i think (and have gone now, oops) [14:08]
chibaguyI found that it's pretty painless to use, but I was just doing simple things like country names. There seems to be some provision for commenting and so on which might be good if more than one person is working on a language.
Also there's a "Review" step after a translation is done, which again would be good for larger organizations, etc.
(Kind of a hassle for one-person translation efforts, but it does give you a way to retain an item to think about or research.

chibaguyI reviewed the strings that I translated. Fabricius made me a reviewer. But when I pulled the file, the new translations are commented out, along with all other lines.
Every line in the file is commented out.

Another topic: I wonder why "img/icons/email.png" is a string to be translated.
[14:57]
Also in the ja language file, quite a few strings aren't commented out but also aren't translated, so I'm commenting them out. I may break even on this commit. [15:09]

chibaguyhi fabricius. Have you downloaded (pulled) a translated language file yet, from Transifex? [16:11]
fabriciusyes
upload and download
you can download "for translation", translate locally, or do fancy search and replace stuff and reupload
important is te name of the file, the php tags and the actual non-commented strings
commented stuff will be ignored on upload
[16:11]
chibaguyI'm asking about the download. Have you pulled a translated file yet?
I found that *every* line is commented out.

you need to uncomment
// English to Japanes

luciashchibaguy: in my opinion all tr strings should have been more descriptive placeholders like tr_some_string-optionalcontext, so it would be tr_POP for your example, or tr_free-as_in_beer or something like that [16:45]

math_, if you use the FancyTable plugin or Split plugin, I think you can say the width of the columns.

luciashmaybe we can just add them in between slashes, like "Free /as in beer/" and tell translators they can remove them in the translation ?
"POP /email context, do not translate/"

yo anyone can help with migration from 2.5 to 12.4 .. ???? http://anahata-retreat.org.nz/ and http://www.padma.org.uk/
[18:48]
jonnybhi pedro_morgan - coo, that's a big jump! :)
i tihnk i'd suggest doing it in a couple of steps, like from 2 to 6 (and fix stuff) then from 6 to 12 (and fix more stuff)
[18:49]
pedro_morganjonnyb: yep.. and funnily enough.. got no hair left and dents on forehead from banging head..!!! lol [18:50]
jonnybsorry can't help now, just on my way out soon
should be around on wednesday mostly
[18:51]
pedro_morganany hints at "permissions" would be usefule.. as its olde category stuff and something in db config is not letting login(missing rows etc...)
am doing.. 2.* to 3.lts and 3 lts to 12.4 lts
[18:51]
jonnybhmmm, yes permissions got significanly "fixed" around tiki 4 so category perms will all need remaking somewhere around tiki 6
i definitely would "stop off" at tiki 6 on the way ;)
[18:52]
pedro_morganumm ok kinda been there...;-( and trying to script this (using fabfile) et all as I got 3 of them.... [18:54]
jonnybalso i think i would work locally on it - do you have a localhost server you can use? (like WAMP etc) [18:56]
pedro_morganjonnyb: yep. .on a linux box.. and dual screen developer workstation.. and (using fabric.py) some scripting to pull .. download, unpack etc [18:57]
jonnybgood, should be slightly less painful [18:57]
pedro_morganstyle is not a problem.. its the fact that the migration kinda looses permissions somewher along way etc.. am even develping a quick json dump of schema so I can see db changes.. and works.. But SOMETHING happens with perms in the db... sign!!! [18:58]
jonnybi'd use svn for getting and updating the installs - don't really know what fabric.py is but i guess it'll do much the same
i seem to remember (it was a long time ago) that you really jsut have to start again with the permissions after tiki 4 or 5
ok, gotta go, good luck! :)
[18:58]
pedro_morganleft svn yonks ago for git.. and fabric is a kinda "shell" http://www.fabfile.org/
jonnyb: thanks for help.. if u see me around.. ping me as this stuff may be useful...
[19:00]
jonnybok, will do, bye for now [19:00]

I am hoping that someone here can help me. I have TikiWiki 12.3 installed and set up with a mailman mailing list. All emails received by tikiwiki and posted to the forum are stripped of their first line. Has anyone encountered this
[21:18]
fabriciushummm
we have mailman aswell, as the sf-lists are mailman and the dev-list ist synched with the forum
not really encountering this problem ... must tink about, who cares about the synch

[21:23]
gezzafabricius just to keep you updated about transifex: there seems to be an issue with the dowloaded translations, all lines are commented out in all 3 available option (for_use, reviewed, for_translation)
i wrote them email about this
will update the transifex page when I get reply
[21:30]
fabriciusfor use should not be commented
I check whazif reviewed
[21:44]
gezzai also started to test crowdin
they seem to have an online translation tool
[21:53]
fabriciuseven reviewed are not uncommented so fa (Transifex)
Crowdin is a company aswell
Did you try the open source one?
[21:57]
gezzayes, they have a free plan for open source projects [21:58]
fabriciusCrowdin you mean [22:01]
gezzayes [22:01]
fabriciusdid you try Pootle? [22:02]
gezzano, pootle does not have online service, I would need to install a server, i dont know when/if i will have time for that
i dont think pootle would work, it would require server setup and maintenane
we dont have resources for that
