polom gezza: polom
chibaguy fabricius : I updated https://tiki.org/Translation+workflow+using+transifex with info about why translation lines are commented out chibaguy: hi gezza. One thing I read was that the commented out lines are due to the php closing tag being missing. Is that still true? gezza: no, that was dropped, transifex agreed with your arguements :) Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Custom CSS rule at tiki.org causing problems - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=26&comments_parentId=56749

New Forum Posts: TikiWiki Forum with mailing list stripping first line - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=56742 chibaguy: Can the translation resource be refreshed at transifex? gezza: it is because the original lang/en/language.php file has all line commented out chibaguy: I see.
What's the solution then? gezza: yes, we can upload new version (even automatically update from svn) chibaguy: But the English lang file always has all or mostly all lines commented out. Does transifex ignore these comment-out characters?
Ah, but the English lang file shouldn't be involved (my mistake). It isn't being translated.
We just need to be sure transifex doesn't comment out lines that aren't already commented out, in other language files.
I don't know how the tiki project is configured at transifex, but it seems the English file shouldn't be involved.
...unless transifex can recognize that the English file is "special" due to its commented-out strings. -: chibaguy wonders how the strings resource file is formatted, of other projects. gezza: joined #tikiwiki
I think as the english language file is the resource (the base file) and the lines are there commented out that is why they are written back that way into the translations
as far as i understand, transifex you need to define a resource and you translate it to other languages chibaguy: Yes, that sounds right, gezza. Looking at http://docs.transifex.com/formats/php/, I see a file like ours except lines aren't commented out.
So does an lang/en/language.php file without "//" on each string need to be made, to be the resource file, I wonder? gezza: yes, that is what i am thinking too
I create a new project with such a file and we can test MagicFab: joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: Ok. And if that works, then we need a mechanism to produce such a file regularly, as the strings are updated. so thare are no more commented out lines, but I think it is ok this way chibaguy: ok. I added ja language target to test with, too..
Hmm, 0% strings translated.
I guess it has no knowledge of the existing ja file. gezza: did you upload the "ja" file? chibaguy: nope gezza: you create the language, than click on it and upload the existing translations chibaguy: I see. gezza: it think does not automatically syncronize between project

But it shows 99% translated. Apparently this time it ignored forward slashes and considers all strings translated already. gezza_: you have to "clean out" the ja translation file before uploading
how did you upload the file to the Tiki15 project?
maybe torsten cleaned it out, he did it for some languages chibaguy: And I looked at the "untranslated strings", picked one ("You have to create a gallery first"), and found that it _is_ actually translated already. So I don't know how transifex is determining what strings are translated and which aren't. There's an interface to delete translations of selected strings, so I guess that has to be done for all the "false positives". But what happens when the resources is updated? It'd have to manually

New Forum Posts: TikiWiki Forum with mailing list stripping first line - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=56742 chibaguy: I wonder why now in tiki 14 (looking at tiki.org) there are two icons superimposed in the module titles - the cogs from before and now "exchange" also (a pair of horizontal arrows).
They are in two spans "moduleflip" and "moduleflip-vert" that seem to be redundant.
Not sure why the exchange icon wasn't showing before.
Apparently this is not a new change; last module.tpl file change in March shows both spans existing.
But I've always only seen the cogs icon, never the exchange one until just now at tiki.org
doc.t.o only has cogs fabricius: hi chibaguy: what are cogs chibaguy: gears
sprockets fabricius: ahh wheels with teeth !? chibaguy: exactly ;-) fabricius: great
by the way chibaguy: working with LESS since yesterday chibaguy: what do you think about it? fabricius: WOW much better than overwriting CSS in customCSS or in stylesheets - I expected that actually, as I was reading a lot of the priciples. Yet I did not really dare to take the time learning it and switching - having been afraid about installing and about understanding how it works
It is much easier than I thought
absolutely worth to work with it
Actually I got to the decision, when I accidentally lost as grown set of customCSS and did not want to recreate
Now I should get phpStorm
did complie a file with the command line and now with the GUI compiler Koala (which uses the commandline and tracks errors on the fly, what is really nice
aswell I did "invent" two new module zones on a site, changing classic layout to classic2 => horizontal very top bar full width background (no container) plus a topbar full width background (no container) with a fixed width layout active.
I think I am starting to get a clue and it is great to define the custom module zones' design with an extra less file ... makes things so easy

fabricius did you work on cleaning the japanese translation for transifex?
to have the real percentages fabricius: Hi gezza, I guess chibaguy did work on it -> chibaguy? gezza: i was chatting with chibaguy, he did not remove the commented lines
just wanted to check before I spend time witht it chibaguy: I didn't do any file editing of the ja language file before uploading it to the new transifex test.
I don't know about the file for the first transifex project. gezza: chibaguy I uploaded translation, can you check? chibaguy: ok gezza: seems to be less, than in the other Tiki 15x project chibaguy: yes, as I recall the other file was 12% vs 9% for this one.
What did you do to the file before uploading it? gezza: fabricius worked out a way: copy the array key => value lines into libreoffice calc, sort it by having the "//...." first, than delete them and copy back the leftover to the language.php file, than upload the translations
should be a one time thing chibaguy: Do you mean all the "//" are deleted? gezza: all the lines starting with // chibaguy: I see. gezza: not just the two cahracters chibaguy: ok. gezza: when downloading the translatiion for use, transifex adds back the lines that are not transleted chibaguy: yes, I noticed that.
Hmm, this seems quite messy.
Too bad transifex doesn't understand Tiki's use of "//".
And respect it, etc. gezza: well, i wonder what is the use of having // chibaguy: If everyone uses Transifex, maybe it's not needed, but for anyone translating the language file itself directly, it shows what needs to be translated. gezza: it provides some visual help when working with the source file, but you can still find and translate items without that
i mean I an usually just searching for a string the I need to have translated chibaguy: So find the source string in the resource file, paste it into the target language file, and translate.
Or find the source string in the templates, etc. gezza: you mean when translating directly in the eg: japanase file?
the untraslated strings will still be there
just without the //
they remain as an "english to english" translation chibaguy: hmm, I was thinking of them being removed, to prevent that needless "translation".
Just as they are commented out in the English file.
I don't know what the efficiency hit is, but seems good to avoid it. gezza: if it was 100% translated tiki would have to manage it
so i dont see much difference
i mean the performance should not be consideration as we aim for 100% translation chibaguy: ok :-)
It seems to me that if we're making radical changes in the language files to accomodate using Transifex, the result should be only improvement, not a step backwards. And to me having thousands or even just hundreds of lines of en => en is a significant step backwards.
But I'll defer to the php/server experts on this point. msaad: chibaguy: <div class="table-responsive"> <table class="table normal table-striped table-hover"> </table> </div>

New Forum Posts: Page Templates - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=56743 chibaguy: msaad, sorry was eating. It depends on the situation. The div class="table-responsive" is needed for wide tables to be responsive (have a scrollbar) in small devices. Actually table class="normal" is a legacy class that isn't really needed. The "table" class Bootstrap expects for any data table. The hover and striped are extra but maybe useful. MagicFab: joined #tikiwiki msaad: right, those are my thoughts as well. I'll remove the normal class
table-responsive should be inside the table itself, not on a div..
but that's my way of doing
bootstrap recommends doing on an outer div, so we'll stick to that :)
apparently I've been doing wrong o/
chibaguy: thanks :) chibaguy: Table-responsive goes on the surrounding div, to give it the scrollbar. Y'see we were mostly Bootstrap newbies when we started integrating it into Tiki, so we _had_ to use the Bootstrap docs constantly, and got to know them fairly well. ;-) msaad: which are fairly well developed =]
My mistake on that one =x chibaguy: Yeah, they're good.
No problem. :-) msaad: I'll be comitting from 6 to 10 files. Hopefully I'll manage to find consistency and follow what we have discussed previously.

So, I'm seeing title="{tr}According this order rules will be applied ('0' or empty = auto){/tr}"
and it could be rephrased to "Rules will be applied accordingly to this order ('0' or empty = auto)"
Is it just a matter of doing so on the template? Do I need to change the English translation file as well? chibaguy: (heh, didn't get away from the keyboard yet). Technically it should be done in the template and all the language files. Anyway, that's how I do it. msaad: _all_ of them? -: msaad gets startled. chibaguy: Ah, I guess it can be done in the template only. There's a script to get all the translation strings. -: msaad phew, breathes again msaad: thanks once again chibaguy. Your dog is waiting on you. chibaguy: Then the language files are updated with that script, I guess (never used it). msaad: (if anyone has further info on how to do it, I'll be happy to hear) chibaguy: But about that phrase, as long as your doing it, I'd take it another step and say "Rules will be applied in this order ('0' or empty = auto)"
