[16:01] fabricius he likes it so far, but he checked which of the nice features "call home" since he painfully accepted to need a microsoft account to run W8 [16:02] jonnyb :) [16:02] fabricius and what? [16:02] fabricius he switched of only one bad home calling (tell MS where he is ... he does not want them to know his position) - only one of the many security "option" and no nice features anymore [16:03] fabricius so no more talking computer [16:03] fabricius no mor telling him how the weather is [16:03] fabricius somewhere else [16:03] fabricius mind: MS wants to know where he is (ex. in Berlin) to tell him where the weather somewhere else is (ex. Munich) [16:04] jonnyb there's also the peer to peer update sharing thing i've heard is naughty, defaults to on and uses up your upload bandwidth apparently [16:04] fabricius MS will tell Lukas only the weather in another city, when he activates geo-localisation [16:05] fabricius yeah -- MS desides your upgrades - what and when [16:06] fabricius I like the features from the ads ... yeah like that ... but for the price of being a transparent industry owned puppy, I just do not want a bit of it at all - not at all at all. [16:09] fabricius High Security and Appropriate Dataprotection you will never gain together with Full Convenience. [16:11] fabricius W10 seems to be Conveience Product, whilst the Gnu/Linux and BSD flavors are variations of Fresh Food. A bitmore time to prepare, need some basic knowledge, but healthy and tasty (usually). [16:13] * jonnyb wonders what that makes Mac OS? ;) [16:15] fabricius trying to be more convenient? [16:17] fabricius data collectors all [16:19] fabricius why MS needs to track where you are and where you go just to provide you fancy features for which your geoposition is irrelevant ? Guess ! We all know for the most part . [16:20] fabricius Being tracked anyway . Yet trying to get away from that . Maybe soon using TOR !? [16:20] fabricius Or I get a rootserver and use that from a VPN tunnel [16:21] fabricius internet and such [16:23] msaad joined #tikiwiki [16:25] jonnyb :D [16:25] jonnyb hi msaad [16:26] msaad Hi jonnyb! Saw your comment on the bug tracker! :) [16:26] jonnyb which one? [16:28] msaad "How about for the time being we restrict the wishlist fields to only appear for "Team Wishlist" members? " [16:28] msaad [16:29] msaad I'm still going to go over all the suggestions, trace a plan, discuss what will be done first and then give it a go :) [16:29] jonnyb oh right yes, i on;y just started using that "view only if in group" setting on tracker fields recently, seems to work fine [16:31] msaad And it makes sense to have it that way. I'll make sure to include that on the changes. [16:39] fabricius Wouldn't be one "field type textarea" very much enough for the wishlist ? [16:56] chibaguy hi fabricius. Of course I'll try to deactivate as much privacy intrusions as I can, but so far I like Windows 10 quite a bit. [16:56] chibaguy But then I liked Windows 8, too. [16:57] * jonnyb is glad someone liked it [16:57] chibaguy (Not really a big windows fan historically, but the OS works pretty well without getting in the way these days, IMO. [16:57] chibaguy Edge browser seems pretty good too. Using Theme:arcturus Option:geo any language that reads r2l like Arabic displays as a different theme in the logo module at the top. It displays as the the 'default' theme fivealive instead. Is that something that I can fix or is it an issue for the Theme designer? [18:20] jonnyb joined #tikiwiki [18:22] redflo joined #tikiwiki [18:27] pat-proulx joined #tikiwiki [18:31] cidoc-dswg Before anyone asks I have cleared the cache. Also I thought it might be a browser problem (especially as first seen in MS Edge) but it does the same in Chrome and Firefox. [18:36] jonnyb hi cidoc-dswg - the arcturus themes were form tiki 2ish, so probably don't support RTL languages at all, sounds like a tough job to convert it i would have thought [18:37] gezza polom [18:37] gezza cidoc-dswg which tiki version do you use? [18:38] cidoc-dswg Dowloaded the recent update. was that 12.4? [18:40] cidoc-dswg Shame if not arcturas geo, like that theme. How tough to fix, how are the themes defined? [18:40] gezza ah, ok, so before the bootstrap&theme revamp (started with Tiki13) [18:41] cidoc-dswg I know this is a daft question but is there a quick way i can remind myself what version i am running? [18:41] gezza in that version they are in the /styles directory [18:42] jonnyb i used to use geo on an old site, but when it was discontinued (before chibaguy re-added them as arcturus) i just switched to a different theme... (not much help i know, but it's quite a bit of work i tihnk) [18:42] gezza to check your version go to tiki-admin.php?page=general [18:45] cidoc-dswg Yep it is 12.4. I'm hearing that it wouldn't make any difference if I updated the version though. I need to choose a theme and check it in both language directions. Any shortcuts/guidance on theme selection, rather than grinding tjrough each one again? [18:45] cidoc-dswg s/tjrough/through [18:48] gezza not sure which ones are RTL ready [18:48] gezza https://themes.tiki.org/tiki-browse_categories.php?parentId=2&deep=off&type= [18:49] gezza the listed ones were mostly maintained [18:49] gezza in the Theme Demo section [18:50] gezza except for Bootswatch themes, they are for Tiki13+ [18:52] cidoc-dswg What is the latest stable version, maybe I should get that. I did think i had installed 14 (or am I imagining that?) [18:55] jonnyb yes, latest version is Tiki 14.0, but 12.4 is still supported to an extend as it's the Long Term Support version until 15.1 [18:55] jonnyb (or even longer actually) [18:59] cidoc-dswg OK thanks that's all useful. I will have a look at the Theme Demo and list and select a new one. Cheers. I will also update to 14 probably, since I am not out of initial set up yet. [19:00] jonnyb 14 is much nicer than 12, so i recommend that, but i'm not sure what the state of RTL is in it as yet (whatever it's like it's probably better than the arcturus themes) [19:05] cidoc-dswg Which prompts me to ask something else. How does tiki know which direction a language should be displayed in? Is that a setting I need to be conscious of when adding new languages? [19:16] jonnyb there's a fairly crude check somewhere that i tihnk currently just checks if it's Hebrew or Arabic, probably easily extended [19:18] cidoc-dswg I need to add Farsi (Persian) and Urdu to that list. Something I do or request? [19:25] jonnyb sorry cidoc-dswg - got to go now, have a look at... hmm, sorry, should be a page on https://dev.tiki.org/Developer+Documentation about it but can't find it now [19:25] jonnyb more tomorrow probably... [19:26] jonnyb here it is https://dev.tiki.org/Creating+or+maintaining+translations?structure=Developer+Documentation [19:26] cidoc-dswg Many Thanks.
