fabricius: four times the same notifications ( for three variations of the sites domains) ... ist tsr
it is really annoying
can't we do anything about t,hat?
chibaguy: Hi fabricius
I think if the multiple display of the forum posts can't be fixed, it should be turned off here.
fabricius: Hi chibaguy
chibaguy: But I don't know why is in charge or who knows what to do.
why -> who
fabricius: caarrie is
but caarrie sais, it is the fault of Tiki, not the scripts fault

chibaguy: That's right, so I don't know who on the Tiki side will handle this.
fabricius: I did have a look, but I did not find a hook
maybe a bug or a missing part related to rss feeds
chibaguy: I had a look at tiki.org's feeds admin but didn't see anything to change there.

Emenems: Hello :-) I was thinking : is there such thing as intermediate version ? like 10.1 ?
fabricius: joined #tikiwiki
msaad: Emenems: not sure, but I don't think so :)
Emenems: msaad, ok :-) so, as Jyhem_laptop was saying, it's better to use a daily snapshot, or the svn version, even in production ?
or at least have a "pre-production" with svn
msaad: Emenems: yes. But introduce changes with baby steps.
exactly
have a pre-production where you can merge incoming patches
see if it's all good.
merge to production
It's safer.
Emenems: so.. i was also thinking : would it be possible to have multiple wikis (ie databases, files) with only one instance of the main code...
?
(im not sure if i'm clear)
msaad: You want your production site to be connected to multiple DB's?
Emenems: No, several production sites, each one has its own DB, and its own configuration file(s), but the majority of the tiki code is the same for each site... hum
msaad: I'm sure there is a way to inter-connect them
chibaguy, amette, luciash ^ (you guys are way more experienced than I am)
Emenems: Like hum... the Multisite possibilities in wordpress
msaad: Emenems: hopefully one of them will be able to help you out. I started contributing not a long ago hehehe :]
Emenems: okok :)
you are already a big help
chibaguy: Emenems, there's the "MultiTiki" feature. https://doc.tiki.org/MultiTiki
hi msaad.
msaad: hi chibaguy :), thanks for your reply on the email.
chibaguy: Oh, sure.
msaad: Emenems: Chibaguy for the win! +1
Emenems: o/
chibaguy: Emenems, with MultiTiki, you use one database and one set of files, but use perspectives to have the appearance of more than one domain.
Emenems: chibaguy, yes, looks like what i would use... i'll take alook :)
chibaguy: So you can have different themes, content, modules, etc. at one installation and one IP address.
Emenems: cool
fabricius: joined #tikiwiki
chibaguy: Oh, actually looking at the doc page, I was thinking of a different feature than MultiTiki. With MultiTiki, you do have more than one database.
I was thinking of "multi-domain" feature - https://doc.tiki.org/Multi-domain
nelsonko: joined #tikiwiki
chibaguy: In the case of multi-domain, there's just one database.
msaad: The scary world of android fragmentation -> http://opensignal.com/reports/2014/android-fragmentation/
Emenems: chibaguy, no, multitiki is ok for me. One set of files, but different configuration and DBs for different wiki.
chibaguy: Ok :-).
Emenems: chibaguy, i will have different (separate) groups of students, and we offer a collaboration tool.
chibaguy: I see.
wow, msaad, that's a lot of android variations.
msaad: chibaguy: tell me about it. Look at the OS comparison. I love how apple just slams their stick on the table and say "You must update or you shall not have phone" whilst android goes like "Heyyy cutie, we have a new version , would you like to update?"
chibaguy: yep, apple's world is tightly controlled.
I was surprised that the next iOS version is supposed to be compatible with my iPhone 4s. I still haven't upgraded from iOS 6.
I'm not an apple fan especially, but when we got these phones, there was a lot of talk about malware on andriod at the time.
And it was a kind of family phone package upgrade.
Didn't want to be hassling with four phones' malware problems. ;-)
fabricius: joined #tikiwiki
msaad: chibaguy: Yeah. I had the first iphone, then moved away from its strict environment.
I'm using an LG G3 now.. quite a phone (4k display yatta yatta yatta)
But yeah, android is finicky.

chibaguy: hi gezza
gezza: hi chibaguy
i was thinking about how join in with the documentation/decisions about the bootstrap standards for Tiki
do you have some workflow in mind about this?
i mean there is that dev page and the themes page
is there a vote needed about anything or just write down what seems best?
or we pick a best practice form?
put a screenshot and explain why these and those solutions are used
chibaguy: There are some points that probably need a consensus on, so maybe a vote, such as label position. I'm not looking forward to that, really, because I know people have different preferences so I'm not sure how everyone will be happy/satisfied with the result.
Working towards a best practices for forms, probably we could start a tentative list of points (practices). And if anyone disagrees with or wants to modify a point, there can be a discussion.
gezza: I think we should pick a form where we can demonstrate
eg: tiki-edit_article.tpl
chibaguy: Yes, there needs to be probably more than one form, because we have several types in terms of layout, etc.
So several examples.
gezza: right
chibaguy: I like how it is done on bootstrap's example page - you can see the implemented form and the code.
gezza: so maybe first group them
chibaguy: Yes, whatever makes sense.
gezza: dev or themes subsite?
chibaguy: There's a https://dev.tiki.org/Templates+Best+Practices, so I just made a https://dev.tiki.org/Forms+Best+Practices .
The templates page is way out of date.
But since this is info for devs, probably the devs site is best.
gezza: ok, I will add info there
thanks!
chibaguy: We want to keep the page clear and free from discussion, I think, or maybe discussion is ok while the best practices are being decided, but the end result should be just a doc page, similar to Bootstrap's.
IMO
Maybe a second page linked to this one, like Forms Best Practices Discussion, to keep this page clean. ?
Anyway, time to take the dog out here. I'll be back in a while.

gezza: hi jonnyb
jonnyb: hi gezza
gezza: decided about the file upload?
jonnyb: not completely, was hoping for some more input - my feeling is to go for the jquery one
but composer.tiki.org is still being uncooperative ;)
gezza: both look good on the demo
jonnyb: yes, but i think the jq one does a bit more, and the bootstrap one would be hard to backport into 12 if it's deemed a good idea
gezza: but the devil hides in the details - mirror translation from hungarian :)
sure you want to backport?
jonnyb: not me particularly
luciash was also looking into it some more i think?

jonnyb: polom chibaguy
on https://dev.tiki.org/Forms+Best+Practices do you mean?
chibaguy: hi jonnyb
yep
jonnyb: thanks :)
-: jonnyb wonders how we could make this all "optional"
chibaguy_: joined #tikiwiki
jonnyb, do you mean the form practices?
jonnyb: yes, only kidding really - think it would be impractical
but was sort of thinking about how the tracker fields have a same row option (sometimes)
chibaguy_: Well, the forms could be all over the park, but I'm not sure how good the user experience would be. ;-)
jonnyb: i was thinking of a pref for stacked or grid forms and some sort of css fix that changes it globally - probably a nightmare
chibaguy_: I imagine trackers are a special case, since they're being created for various purposes that maybe can't be anticipated.
jonnyb: indeed
chibaguy_: The Tiki admin pages are a more stable set.
chibaguy__: joined #tikiwiki
gezza: jonnyb: for trackers custom wishes would be solved having a form builder
jonnyb: :D
gezza: that we will do after the UUID thing :)
so I would not worry about tracker layout
