I'm finding that they are added as ordinary form labels when using the modal edit box.
If I use the legacy edit page, heading field types do display as headings.
Also in the modal popup, I have a wide image (field content) that breaks out of the modal. Seems like it should either be resized as a thumbnail for this view, or overflow should be hidden in the modal div.
