all ok today? olinuxx: joined #tikiwiki xavi: he he, working on projects for clients... (trying to reduce my "todo" list) :-) RadoS: xavi, I went trough creating workspaces via WS UI, all looks fine, but when I let a user from the group associated with workspace A edit the ws-homepage in that Workspace to create a new page "page", it's called wsTempl:_:A:_:page , the user can only read/write wsTempl:_:A, when the user wants to follow the link to create that new page, it says the new page is forbidden. What's going wrong, or have I misunderstood the permissions there?
Moin btw. ;) julenlar: joined #tikiwiki fabricius: joined #tikiwiki julenl: Hi! I am trying to get a map like the one xabi documented on the "geolocation" page, but the path "Admin home > Wiki > Features > Geolocation of wiki pages" doesn't seem to exist anymore in tiki-15.0 jonnyb: hi julenl - i'm sure i saw it somewhere, on the maps admin panel maybe? julenl: hmm... from the control panel (admin panel), the maps section only shows: Settings => pluging map, location and zoom level to searched location xavi: julenl: hi, ensure that you have the preference filters set to show also not just the basic preferences jonnyb: oh yes, thanks xavi - the dreaded pref filters! ;) xavi: to me, they are a regression in usability for new site admins, they shouldn't be hidden by default (imho) julenl: jonnyb: thank you so much! Uff.. that was exatly the problem: I had it on basic (only) :)
and... one thing... maybe it would be better to use a consistent name for the "control panel" and "admin panel" in the documentation. Someone could get the feeling that they are two different things
I mean "admin home"
maybe replace all "admin home"s with "control panel" (as this is the name in the interface) xavi: julenl: we need help on that. Your help with it would be MUCH appreciated jonnyb: good point julenl, please do! :) xavi: the name changed in Tiki14 or Tiki15 (at least), and most documentation still refers to Tiki12 or earlier julenl: ok, I'll go for it. I just wanted to make sure that it is not that way for some reason... xavi: no, just keep the "Admin home" name for up to Tiki12 LTS, for instance, and "Control Panels" for Tiki15 LTS onwards. Info about Tiki 13, and Tiki14 will be soon phased out in favor of Tiki15, so that you can concentrate is being consistent for Tiki12 LTS and Tiki15 LTS. julenl: ok, I'll do that olinuxx: joined #tikiwiki fabricius: joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: joined #tikiwiki
polom julenl: how can I edit the doc.tiki.org pages? I just created an account in tiki.org but I can't log in with those credentials fabricius: joined #tikiwiki
hello julenl, still there?
please try again, your account is just validated chibaguy: Hi fabricius. I noticed there
I noticed there's a DocTwoEditors group. Do people need to be in that group to edit pages at doc.t.o?
Or can any registered user? torsten1: joined #tikiwiki
.
chibaguy: have been disconnected ... did you say more than "Hi fabricius. I noticed there" ? chibaguy: I noticed there's a DocTwoEditors group. Do people need to be in that group to edit pages at doc.t.o? fabricius: not sure ... I am just testing the validation ... checking that right away aswell, thx xavi: hi chibaguy (and fabricius and RadoS ): registered can add content. those doctweditors had more perms, afair
RadoS: one solution might be (just a guess) that you will need to make your users create new pages from the structure navigation bar. this way their pages will belong to that structure, and they will inherit the perms from the hoempage of the structure. Does this solve your issue? julenl: xabi, fabricius and chabaguy: all solved. I'm in :) RadoS: xavi, I didn't install structures yet because I thought I don't need them... xavi: RadoS: then you will need to play with "Category perms" (if you don't want to grant global perms to your users, even if you could to make things easier for you, if your setup allows it), I guess, plus the setting to force categorizing new wiki pages, etc. or even set a default category for new content, etc. I don't have much experience with those settings myself, sorry. I usually follow the "wiki structures" road with my students.
hth RadoS: xavi, thanks for input. WS UI created WS, namespace, category & group and bound everything to each other. It _SEEMS_ as if the permissions are bound only to the top-page of the namespace, not "recursively" to all sub-pages.
If that's what structures are meant to be used for, then I'll look into it.
However, I assumed it would work without structures "just like that" with just group -> namespace -> category -> permissions.
Maybe the 3 levels of namespaces is confusing with permissions application. xavi: yes. or somehow, the "category jail", but I haven't used that feature in production. I would follow first the "wiki structure" road. RadoS: lvl 1 == template, lvl 2 == WS, lvl 3 page.
xavi, aye aye, will check. xavi: for structures, you can set them in the workspace when you switch to the advanced view, and use the same syntax as with profiles (yaml). There is a profile to let you play and learn how to use structures using yaml code (tricky, but works, as demonstrated by the profile "Structured Master documents" (it's available in the Profiles Wizard) fabricius: chibaguy, xavi: registered users can edit docuentation wiki pages, whilst "DocTwoEditors" seem to be editors of the whole website, including additional permissions as xavi stated . chibaguy: I see, thanks. olinuxx: joined #tikiwiki Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Hide part of a page for a group of user. - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=59506 jonnyb: joined #tikiwiki nelsonko: joined #tikiwiki fabricius: joined #tikiwiki Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Hide part of a page for a group of user. - http://live.tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=59506
