hi. i was wondering if there is a way to sync all users from an ldap server. functions ldap_sync_all_user does not seem to be called from anywhere in the code xavi: anupam: no idea about those numbers (millions of wiki pages).
nstylianides: afaik, users are created upon their first login to the TIki site, getting the credentials and the other information from the LDAP server at that time
no idea about that function, sorry. nstylianides_: joined #tikiwiki Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Using TikiWiki for a large public wiki? - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=60551

I have already achieved that through CAS SSO. I was looking for a mechanism to update my user db in bulk action. Especially for users that belong to groups other than "Registered" xavi: nstylianides_: afair, group sync does work also, once the user is created at least, it will get the needed groups created to have that user also as a member of that group in Tiki groups also
(tested in Tiki15 a few months ago) anupam: xavi, thanks for getting back. Any idea on the scalability of the platform in general? Like is it considered to be more scalable than others in the space (like Dokuwiki)?
I am have been trying hard for the last few days to zero in on a good wiki solution that can scale and has good search. It seems DokuWiki's search is not good for large number of pages
If not million pages, maybe good to get an idea for 100,000 pages. (Million pages is a far fetched goal right now) xavi: feature-wise: for sure it is. Whenever you need a new feature, you enable it, and that's it. No need for extra third party code in form of external plugins, in general, etc.
and regarding upgrades: yes, it will help you upgrade over and over without loosing your previous content.
regarding search, tiki lately uses a unified search index, which makes search faster than searching the mysql database in real time when you search for some terms anupam: Ok - do you know of any case studies of large wikis using Tiki Wiki (like wikis with about 100k pages or so) (btw - thanks for helping me out!) xavi: and you can use start with mysql full text search, for instance, but if you need improvements when reaching that phase of 10^5 or 10^5 pages, you can switch maybe to "elastic search", and provide as many search servers as needed?
s/10^5 or 10^5/10^5 or 10^6
nope, sorry. Let me have a look at tiki.org or doc.t.o... anupam: Yeah, maybe elastic search or using Google's CSE could be good alternatives for a better search
ok I searched through google a bit but couldnt find many write-ups about scale. I'll also continue to look - thanks for looking, xavi! xavi: t.o: 3318 pages.

Could not perform index modification: Incorrect string value: 'xE2x86x92 Wi...' for column 'contents' at row 1
Any clue where to look for correction?
I wonder what could be misconfigured.
Rebuilding the index doesn't help but ... produces same errors in same pane, but has additional pane "Error
Could not perform index modification: Incorrect string value: 'xE2x86x92 Wi...' for column 'contents' at row 1"
(i.e. repeating one of the previous/ last error from the former pane) xavi: RadoS: try restarting the web server?
or wherever you have your search engine (if elstic search, and not local, etc) Bsfez: morning guys RadoS: xavi, restarting apache2 didn't help. Isn
't the search part of tikiwiki? xavi: hi Bsfez :-)
RadoS: if you use mysql as unified search engine, try restarting mysql?
I mean, I have no clue why this happened to you. But maybe restarting the affected service will help
try clearing tiki caches also
or I would try (if all the previous didn't work) to temporarily change to another unified search engine, to see if that is related to your problem (i.e. from mysql to lucene, or viceversa, etc) RadoS: xavi, neither didn't help, restarting mysql made it even worse perhaps, because before I could open "admin groups" with no error up front, now the same error appears there, too, before I edit a group. Bsfez: Hi
Rados… May be your index is corrupted. If it is not a production site, did you try to delete/remove index files so they are recreated brand new ? RadoS: I found the culprit: while migrating content from mediawiki by "copy&paste", a page contained this char "→" (arrow-right). This killed the index.
(index building)
I removed those chars from the page via phpmyadmin, now all is well again.
But this is ... worrying.
Why would this special char cause such problems?
tiki-check said all is viable. Bsfez: Please post in the wishlist with details this may lead to improving Tiki.
Thanks Telesight: joined #tikiwiki RadoS: Bsfez, sure I will, protcolling all my experiences for later reports.

polom y'all jonnyb: hi ricks99 ricks99: Q: Anyone using trackers for calendar? I'm having problems getting a usable RSS feed for upcoming events
By default, Tiki sorts tracker items by date added/updated (which is different from the event's actual start date)....
I can add a &sort_mode to the RSS URL to get it to sort correctly, but I can't figure out how to have the feed show only upcoming events.
(and hi jonnyb) jonnyb: sorry, not tried that
could you use the status somehow? and maybe listexecute plugin to set them to closed for past events maybe? ricks99: hmm... hadn't thought of that route... automatically "close" events whose start date is greater than (now)? nelsonko: joined #tikiwiki ricks99: maybe. good pointer. thanks jonnyb Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Using TikiWiki for a large public wiki? - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=60551

RadoS: I have a category containing wiki pages + perspectives. When I rename such a wiki page, it's reflected in the list of category objects, but that doesn't happen when I change the name of such a perspective. Isn't the relation set by ID? How can I adjust that short of hacking the DB (again with phpmyadmin ;)?
BTW, in which table are the contained category objects stored? jonnyb: hi RadoS - several ;) categories are complex things in tiki
you can't categorise perspectives can you? RadoS: They are auto-created + assigned by workspaces.
jonnyb, I assume then 1 type of objects is stored by ID and there renames are reflected & used well, while other types are by name rather than by ID, so ... besides looking ugly things could get broken by not finding renamed stuff.
bah, could get broken -> can break ;) jonnyb: only wiki pages (well, and sometimes groups) use the name as id, everything else uses a numeric id (afaik) RadoS: Oh, another case I didn't consider, yet doesn't help. :) Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Using TikiWiki for a large public wiki? - https://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=60551

what's up? jonnyb: hi nelson
we had some odd "ghost" items appearing on dev on tracker 5, but it seems to be only when editing one single item - all very odd
i deleted the ghost ones but we need to keep an eye on it i think
strangley enough i just fixed a bug in the webservice field that was having the exact same effect, but that field isn't even enabled on dev... nelsonko: ghost items, that have no content? jonnyb: yes, so probably just the item record and no fields (or not all of them)
the thing with the webservice bug was creating items owth only 2 or 3 of the 30 fields it should have
it was due to the $this->itemId() not working when loading the item edit form... nelsonko: what do you mean " only when editing one single item" ?
might be worth watching the network panel to see if any ajax requests doing extra tracker updates Tiki-KGB: 03jonnybradley r59302 10trunk/lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_tracker.php
