chibaguy: It it's necessary to reconstruct doc.t.o pages added or modified since the Nov. 11 backup, I've made a list based on googling "last modified on" for the dates in question.
It -> If
So google's cached versions can be used.
Though some "re-tikification" will be needed.
fabricius: retikification from google - thx chibaguy

Hi. Anyone know if it's possible to upgrade from 6.1 -> 16 directly?
luciash: frederik1: hi, some guys did it recently even from older version
ah, that was from 2.6 to 12.x
but just make a backup of your db and files and give it a try I would say
frederik1: luciash: Right :)
luciash: Can you help me spot something obvious I missed? I downloaded 16.2, backed up my files/db entries and overwrote the dir with a "cp if source newer" policy. now the wiki redirects me to a non-functional index.php (I can still access the wiki with full access using tiki-index.php) and the tiki-admin.php claims my version is still 6.1
luciash: frederik1: probably there were some old files left which conflict with the new version
fabricius: Mind the changes of the menus in Tiki 7 .. for larger and productive sites I always would recommend to get to the next 3er version: 3 -> 6-> 9 -> 12 -> 15 -> 16
Would be quite easy with svn
luciash: frederik1: I would recommend to extract 16.2 in a new dir and then connect the db to it and upgrade that. then you can rename the dirs
frederik1: luciash: oh thats genius
luciash: and then copy over any missing files from the old one if needed

frederik1: luciash: This process gave me a clue but also made me realize that your suggested method may also have complications. When I do a "clean" install i.e copy files from the release to a new folder and access that web server through index.php I get ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS
luciash: do you know if tiki makes its own error logs or if I need to search apache logs?
jonnyb: joined #tikiwiki
luciash: frederik1: apache logs
frederik1: do you have _htaccess renamed to .htaccess ?
frederik1: luciash: yes I did that :s
luciash: frederik1: and when you rename it back, same error?

patrickproulx: Has anyone had issues installing a fresh instance of Tiki15?
I got a “PHP Fatal error: Class 'ZendSessionValidatorId' not found” error and had to manually add the Id.php file in the zend/sessions vendor files for it to work
luciash: patrickproulx: nope :(
patrickproulx: temporary glitch while getting the vendors? or is it from a release package?
patrickproulx: Not sure. Looking into it right now.

patrickproulx: luciash - seems it might have been a temporary glitch since I can’t recreate it.
Validator/Id.php isn’t introduced until zend ^2.7. Not sure if another component was trying to use a more recent version of Zend, but I can’t get it to error out again and give me more specifics. I deleted and reinstalled, and if I grep vendor files, I also can’t find any reference to Validator/Id.
Anyways, I’ll keep an eye out for it, but i’m thinking it might have just been a one-time glitch
