Polom everyone
Can someone help me out just a little for the installation of the R plugin ? hmm, it just loaded ok for me. jonnyb: odd - dinn't get them last month (and i have done some nice fixes in 17.x on it)
it loads ok but when i added myself it got stuck, and when i saved my changes chibaguy: ah jonnyb: clearing caches
same - doesn't work at all for me now :( chibaguy: ... watching the load anim after inputting my name ...
... still watching. I have the feeling it isn't going to stop. jonnyb: yup, check the js console, it'll be a 500 server error
no, it won't chibaguy: so I reloaded the page and my name is in the convene plugin list. jonnyb: indeed, i think maybe it's a server change... will ask Oliver Padlock: Polom jonnyb and chibaguy ! jonnyb: pompom - oops, meeting time (again) chibaguy: hi Padlock Padlock: Lol it's ok jonnyb ;-)
have a great meeting, y'all jonnyb: :P chibaguy: I reloaded the page again and the plugin is updated.
So anyway that aspect is ok. (Padlock, we're talking about using the Convene plugin on https://tiki.org/Roundtable+Meeting+2017+05 .)
It should do an auto-refresh after entering data, but isn't. luciash: polom pom pom Bsfez: joined #tikiwiki luciash: Padlock: yup, you need to install R libs on your linux I suppose Bsfez: polom luciash: jonnyb: chibaguy - yep the loading is stuck but when you reload the page it gets saved it seems Bsfez: I confirm Padlock: luciash: polom and thanks ! One of my colleagues did it for me (I so know nothing about this linux stuff) and I also installed the r_test profile : seems to be working. I have no idea what to do with it, though, but that's another problem lol luciash: it is a bit annoying to use that convene plugin i would say ;) hopefully after the site gets svn up it will get better?
Padlock: lol :) Padlock: So now the remaining issue for me this week is about the versionning system. Bsfez: Note, the page is improved each month (roundtable from March, April, etc...) luciash: hi Bsfez -: luciash noting Bsfez: Hi lu :) Padlock: I have two questions about the versioning system : is there a way to insert by means of {tags} or $parameters version information directly inside a wiki page, like a table saying versionX-author-Date ? luciash: Padlock: you mean version of page? Padlock: yes luciash: Padlock: yep, I think there was something on the Wiki control panel
Padlock: to display current version of the page Padlock: well that actually woudln't do. Maybe I should explain the other way around, so you see what is wrong with my orderers
they think the embedded "history" feature of the wiki is not satisfactory, because it shows too many versions of the page (one is created every time the "save" button is hit) and they can't clearly see which one is an actual new version luciash: lol Padlock: Besides, it's always me typing stuff into tiki, but they want the name of the actual author of what I type to appear luciash: maybe use {sign} after each paragraph of yours? :) Padlock: So far, they would use classic word templates that all start with a table where they manually enter version 1.0|date|name of author luciash: that creates signature with your name and timestamp Padlock: they would "simply" like a table like this inserted at the start of every page. which means I would have to find a way to tweak the history feature anyways : Bsfez: luciash, I added the missing information Padlock: Actually if i can tweak the history, they will have to need for a table at the start of the document. Is there a way to "clean" the history of a doc, by removing all intermiedary version, and then re-numbering the remaining versions ?
If I made 83 versions of a page because they keep asking me to correct this or this every time I show it to them, I usually clean the history and keep only major releases of the document. However, those will be number 12, 58, 83. And they will all have my name on them, instead of the actual author of the data luciash: Padlock: sounds complicated
Padlock: I do not think there is an "easy way"
Padlock: maybe you could track the data of each page in a Tracker and display that information through PluginList or Trackerlist? Padlock: oh i see what you mean
trackers again.... I'm so bad at using them... I'll look into that, though, it sounds like the only option luciash: :) Padlock: I hate that I chose Tiki because of a list of requirements they gave me, and now they just keep stacking up new requirements, although the choice has been made, so I have to make tiki comply
and I am no computer guy :(
that R plugin thing was about the most difficult thing I ever did luciash: I think it was good choice to choose Tiki. I doubt you would be able to do all that with another system... Padlock: Now they're also demanding an explanation as to why C++ code snippets won't display in color when displayed with {CODE()} and selected color scheme is "clike" luciash: So no hate necessary ;) Padlock: Oh luciash that's exactly what I told my colleague. I don't hate that I chose tiki, I hate the situation where they stack up new crazy reqs when I chose tiki because it filled other reqs luciash: Padlock: hmm, really? Make a wish? ;)
Padlock: for the color scheme
Padlock: at least you have a job to do what you are paid for (I hope ;)) Padlock: Tiki is really like magic to me, everyday I marvel at what it is capable of, even if I don't comprehend it all. luciash: hahahah, can we use it as a quote? :D Padlock: It's a job I'm not skilled to do. I'm supposed to only be using stuff, not searching it and implementing it. For the color scheme thing, i'm supposed to provide an explanation and a fix. How the hell ? lol
luciash: lol yes, be my guest
If I can at least contribute a slogan, I'm happy ;-) chibaguy: Padlock and luci, can this be used to report the page version: https://doc.tiki.org/Wiki+Argument+Variables ? luciash: :) chibaguy: "{{lastVersion}} (last version of the wiki page; added in Tiki 12.2)" luciash: chibaguy: yes, but I think Padlock actually needs "custom version" numbering, something like a "relase tags" actually chibaguy: ah luciash: s/relase/release Padlock: chibaguy: thanks for contributing :-) that's what I've been using so far and it was perfect to me... luciash: lunch time, bbl ;) chibaguy: joined #tikiwiki

any ideas?47 luciash: ironwarning: in modal dialog or simply in wiki page?

looks like a new setting in the new version
have to switch the bootstrap on luciash: hmm... should work without bootstrap too

hmm, where do activate minor revisions? Padlock: oh hi Jyhem !
let me check those
and thanks for backreading and suggesting ;-) Jyhem: ahhhhh "Allow minor edits of wiki pages" in wiki config tab general prefs, all the way to the bottom
no problem Padlock Padlock: ooooh Tiki-KGB: 03luciash r62606 10trunk/tiki-editpage.php
[ENH][FIX] wiki page edits: show the link to diff only when page is not initially created (first version of the page, thanks marclaporte) and url encode the page name (thanks chealer) Jyhem: I play with Tiki17 and I can remove items from the history, and also I can collapse editing sessions
https://demo.tiki.org/17x/tiki-pagehistory.php?page=ppSample&clear_versions=1&show_all_versions=n
maybe you can simply add a version number in the edit description, then delete the useless edits Padlock: Well, I can too delete items from the history, but then I'm left with a pretty strange numbering, because the remaining items don't get re-numbered.
And that seems to be what they take issue with
that and the fact that all items are authored by me, when they would like the actual author to appear Jyhem: By you can't cheat about the edit authors Padlock: lol Jyhem: Ohhh yes you can! Padlock: can I ?
what sorcery are you talking about ? Jyhem: You could install the login module on a side bar (not the pop-up version)
This lets you "switch to another user" when you are admin Padlock: yes, it's already soemwhere on all my pages Jyhem: then you impersonate that user Padlock: can I switch to other users without knowing their passwords ? Jyhem: Yes Padlock: oh, my login module only shows the current user and log out
i don't have a switch option Jyhem: hmmm
that's weird. You are not admin of the Tiki? Padlock: Oh sorry, it was in popup mode but I displayed it in a way that I did not realize it
I will try that right now :)
Ok. I kinda like that. Of course once i've switched i cannot switch back without loging in, but I'm ok with that
I'll try to sugarcoat it and sell it as a GRAND improvement lol
thank you so much Jyhem !! chibaguy: joined #tikiwiki
back luciash: Padlock: you can switch back to your admin user when going back to the /login page
Padlock: or if you have the login module displayed in left/right column for all (not in popup mode) Padlock: luciash: it's ok, i'd rather not let other users switch back to admin anyway ;-)
I still don't quite see the difference between minor edits and regular versions, because they're listed the same in the history, though chibaguy: Padlock, one thing is minor edits don't get flagged for translating, I think, if you have a multilingual site. Padlock: Oh, so it affects other aspects i don't realy use, I see ;-) chibaguy: I'm not sure if there are other differences. Padlock: It's really too bad the version items are not re-numbered once some have been removed :(
Because thanks to all your suggestions, I'm not going over all the documents and saving them once "as" their original author and adding "v 1.0" in the comment section, and removing all other history items, so all documents are now available in their first version but the number displayed in history feels wrong lol nelsonko: joined #tikiwiki ironwarning: joined #tikiwiki

actually, it's not so important, you've helped me heaps today, thank y'all so much.
It's just not easy looking up stuff now in the doc site, seems the index is busted :( amette__: Hi Padlock - is it outdated or what is the problem? Padlock: well, when I look up for something, i get the list the corresponding suggestions of aliased pages, and if I select one, I'm taken there alright
but if i do a freeword search, it keeps saying there's 0 matches found
actually "Error - no such index" amette__: alright, could reproduce - I'll check. Padlock: It's been like this for a couple of weeks now. I thought it was due to the major server crash a month ago or so, I didn't want to rub it in :(
I'm sorry I didn't tell sooner amette__: Yep, I guess it's somehow due to that. Didn't notice. Nice of you, cheers! Don't worry, we know now! :)
Weird thing is... the index that is mentioned in Admin->Search as the current one, it does exist on the elastic server.
I'll try reindexing. Tiki-KGB: 03luciash r62607 10trunk/tiki-editpage.php

(thanks jonnyb) Padlock: And if any of you has any idea of how to properly organize things in a tree view in wiki, feel free lol amette__: not sure exactly what you mean... but how about a Structure? Padlock: (it's just a display thing, I don't need to display a treeview of wiki items, just organize text in a wiki page and make it look like a tree structure) Bsfez: joined #tikiwiki amette__: ah, ok, hmmm... sorry, don't know any such feature Padlock: the author gave me a .txt doc and he desribed some sort of architecture by organizing elements and sub elements by using pipes and underscores |___

I just rebuilt it, but it's still b0rked. jonnyb: hi amette__ amette__: Padlock: no problem, just use ~np~ASCII-Art~/np~ ;)
Actually the internet was built like that, just read some RFCs... they only since this year accept SVG graphics. *g* Padlock: hahaha
Yes, and before that computers were made of wood.... see where I'm going ? ;-) amette__: Yeah, I guess you have a point there... ;) Padlock: I'm old enough to have seen all kinds of horrors, even full blown major paintings re-done in ASCII but... 2017. Those guys I'm working for may be programers, I keep hoping there's still a little human left in them
:D* amette__: Programmers tend to like the simplest thing that might possibly work. *g* fabricius: joined #tikiwiki -: jonnyb likes ascii art, also ascii art movies (once upon a time)
amette__ suggests the mplayer ASCII output plugin for that Padlock: This is the end of me, they're everywhere !! amette__: ;D jonnyb: :P Padlock: Well, what can you do ? ..... ¯_(ツ)_/¯ amette__: Exactly. *g* luciash: amette__: heya bro! amette__: heya luciash bracho! luciash: Padlock: lol
but yep, you can put it as amette suggests or inside a PluginCode ;)
or just put it in some unordered list and find a jQuery plugin to convert it to some fancy tree -- must be there somewhere on the internets ;) Padlock: Ha well, i'll just leave it like this. They could easily make fancy stuff with words and I could paste the picture, they chose this, they'll have this.
trouble is sometimes spaces are not respected with plugincode, so everything gets unaligned jonnyb: how about ~pp~some ascii art~/pp~ ?
"~pp~ data ~/pp~ Displays preformated text/code; no Wiki processing is done inside these sections (as with np), and the spacing is fixed (no word wrapping is done). " amette__: oh, sorry, I tend to confuse np and pp, but yep, one of those should work Padlock: I'm confused, what are thos ~/xx~things ? amette__: wiki syntax luciash: iirc pp has some wiki syntax processing Padlock: weird
so I can use those as tags instead of {code()} ? amette__: exactly luciash: Padlock: wiki syntax - pp for preformated paragraph as it renders <pre> and np for no parsing amette__: aah, ok, yes, then ~pp~ is gonna be the one most likely Padlock: oh. Padlock confused. amette__: Padlock : write into a wiki page (without the quotes): "~pp~ Test Text ~/pp~" and you'll see luciash: np in IRC is np for no problem though ;) amette__: :D Padlock: yes, i just tried and they work amette__: k, cool :)
Now try with line breaks. Padlock: I'm confused because I've barely got used to plugin tags and had no idea there was more weirdness to it :D
well the ASCII tree thing looks perctly aligned with those ....taggy things amette__: hehehe, yep, these feel maybe a bit unnatural... reason being that they existed before plugins (I think) Padlock: the whole thing is displayed in a grey area though, is that ok ? amette__: Yep, that's the preformatted paragraph area, so to say. Padlock: interesting. But yu can't use any coding color schemes with those, right ?
(see, still trying to weasel my way into solving my color scheme problem) amette__: nope, that's what {CODE()} is for. ~pp~ and ~np~ are explicitly for not doing anything to the text. Tiki-KGB: 03jonnybradley r62608 10branches/17.x/lib/images/imagick_new.php

It's great to see people get more capable each day. :) jonnyb: doesn't ~pp~ generate <pre> tags? amette__: jonnyb : yep, I think so Tiki-KGB: 03jonnybradley r62609 10branches/17.x/tiki-download_file.php
